He looked so sexy in the suit (when didn't he look fetching in a well fitted suit?) and I just love the pain and longing in his voice, he just wants her to make up her mind!!!
I love the use of the album cover motif for the video. I suppose the cover is the "morning after" the events in this video. :) Still not quite sure WHAT he's fiddling with on the cover, possibly a high powered pleasure vibe?
It should be. It is the incomparable James Jamerson of Motown fame on bass (recall Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On") ! I just read this on Wikipedia. Unmistakeable styling.
Check out that bass! That's the immortal James Jamerson of Motown layin' down the groove. Robert P. has obviously been doing his homework with a beautiful nod to Stevie Wonder during the bridge. It doesn't get better than this. We miss you, Robert Palmer!
i'm surprised he made a vidoe for this song. it's not the best from this lp or this period. still, a nice rarity. Palmer was one of the most underappreciated singers. His death went practically unnoticed! WTF?!
No it's not his wife. It's the wife of a guy at the record company he was with at the time. Which i think was island. It was allegedly made at Heathrow airport.
It's David Harper's wife. David Harper was Robert's manager and good pal. The management company was Cater and Harper, if you want to get any more info.
I think his voice was amazing in this song; it's one of my favourite of his songs. Video reminds me of almost every walk back to a hotel room. Which is not a good reflection on the wife.
love the part at 2:28 when he holds the note and the chorus catches up to him ... a beautiful moment of music ...

I've heard that the woman in the video is the wife of a friend of Robert's. I wonder why Robert's wife wasn't in the video.

Palmer should be remembered for this kind of excellent music; this, Sally, Pride and a few other gems.

Far too often the REAL SINGING talent gets pushed aside for the flashy over produced deals that offer plenty of show, but not much go.

Why don't more people know how great RP was?
swansnsea 4 years ago 5
Because they just listen to the mainstream music that radio 1,etc play and don't investigate different styles of music.
