You can clearly see that the Deere has MOST of it's weight hanging over the front end. You can have all the horsepower in the World, but if you can't connect it to the ground it's USELESS!
Case QT Engine: 535hp Wheelbase: 154 inches [391 cm] Weight: 51000 to 52410 pounds John Deere 9630T Engine: 530 hp [395.2 kW] Wheelbase: 116 inches [294 cm] Weight: 43,920 lbs [19922 kg] Case 5 hp + 38 inches wheelbase + 8490 extra pounds is an unequal fight Information taken from page tractordata
oh please...lets weight the jd up equally to that red hunk of junk and lets see who pulls who! I love how the red power guys have to unfairly stack the advantage to them to win...lets be realistic here...my deere goes down in the field...within an hour i have a service truck at the end of the field working on it...can the red power boys say that??? While their QT is sittin on the end row waitin for the service call...my JD is back up and turnin dirt!!!
@plowboy4life81 If you read through the comments you'd see that the OP stated that the Deere IS ballasted to MATCH the Case. Also worth noting is that it would put the Deere at least 5,000 lbs over it's max operating weight as the Case QT is rated for 5,000 lbs more than the Deere 9630T. As far as service is concerned that all comes down to dealer support and has absolutely nothing to do with paint colour. Someday JD might produce a tractor that will out pull a QT but right now they don't.
they are always John Deere people that cant stand to loose at anything because big red always beats them. . Just turn the steering wheel in the JD and it looses power in one track , they should have never been designed that way. Go look at ID's new high speed dozer its nothing but a Quadtrak with a blade
The reason why the Deere lost is because the case has better traction because it has 4 tracks and more horsepower its like having a big bud VS a case like that.
actually the deere is over ballasted, its a dual purpose tractor good for a grain cart and a heavy harrow thats it. I truely pitty anyone who has to pull anything heavy with one like an air drill and has to turn. It is shit and if we still had a wheeled tractor on the yard i would gladly hook the two together. Case is superior the power gets to the ground and turning is a great option deere or Cat will never master on two track set ups
APPLES & ORANGES...stupid idiot rednecks just wasting time & diesel with such stunts. I gues they NEED something to talk about over a beer. BOTH tractors are GREAT tractors for what they're built for. The red one has a bunch more weight and almost 100% more tractive area....fools
I've always been partial to the IH brand. As a child growing up on a small farm, my father had an old 46 Case, which is currently sitting in my back yard waiting to be restored. Put the two brands together and you’ll have a winner every time. I've always had a healthy dose of respect for the John Deere brand as well. From my perspective, if you parked either one of these beauties in my front yard as a Christmas gift, I'd never be heard complaining. Very entertaining video. Thanks for sharing.
i say "f" the quad track it may be good in the field but i like jdohn deere its way fucking better in fact i would love to have any john deere tractor
Yea, again guys, The John Deere is not ballasted appropriately.. It's obvious to the trained eye. Look at the places where the weights go.... DUH..... It's lacking alot.... Yes the quad trac is an exellent tractor... In this particular test if you are attempting to show that your quad trac wieghs more than you have succeeded...Both tractors have advantages and disadvantages.... The application determines the winner.. Weather it's fuel economy(bye bye big red) or ground pressure(byebye green)
puut the john deere high speed dozer against that that is a quadtrac that is not fair the case has four tracks to rely on the john deere only has two the high speed dozer has four tracks
The key design feature that you need to keep in mind is that the single track needs significant ballasting on the front of the tractor to keep the weight displacement spread evenly, where the 4 track system does not need that additional weight. If a single track system is insuffociently weighted on the front end, it will cause the majoity of the weight to be pulled to the rear of the unity and therefore cause more compaction
to mantain better track-to-soil contact, JD and Cat or "two track tractors" must add ballast (weight) to the front and to the side of the tractor. Adding the additonal weight to the front of the "two track tractors" increases soil compaction as well as operating costs. Therefore, indentation or ridges in the soil will negatively affect the track-to-soil contact, lessening floation and increasing soil compaction. on a QUADTRAC the ground PSI is 5.6 pounds...
The 9630t is not fully weighted....Carriage is missing the second weight bracket on both sides which is 3400lbs...is also missing the 12 front idler weights and doesnt have a full rack of 26 on the front..... ballast them the same and do it again and the results will be different guaranteed
@zombieapicolypse254 if John Deere EVER made a jd quadtrac THEY would get their asses sued so bad because of stealing a patented design and so thats why there are no other tracked 4-wheel drive tractors around except for the CaseIH Quadtrac
@SuperCaseIHMan ha ha ha when has sueing ever stopped johndeere from doing anything, remeber when cat came out with the tracked tractor, so john deere said "hey thats a good idea" and they took it and added there own thing to it, they got sued for that. john deere is just going to do what evere the hell they want and if they want the idea they would buy it they probly just are not interested in the quad track design
you can have all the power in the world but, you need the weight to transfer to power to the ground. the quad will take both cat and jd as long as the quad is around.
Both are good tractors i think. But Case will always win this fight, because John Deere just doesn't have a tractor big enough to win from a Case quadtrack. This fight isn't about horsepower, both tractors are strong enough to pull almost anything... But Case does a better job in bringing the horsepower onto the ground by using the quadtrack. So from an engineering point, Case wins:)
I prefer john deere over everything else, But i have to admit Quad tracks are Just amazing. AS for the 9400T One side slips and there you end up turning the machine to one side or the other.
All you CAT lovers out there hold your tongue. You find more cummins powered vehicels on a CASEIH ran farm than anywhere else. FYI the motor in this CASE IH on this video was a cummins.
We farm with mostly John Deere ,we tried a John Deere track tractor,it rode just like the cat dozer we have, rough, when one track got in the mud,the track with traction kept pulling and turn me so fast that I had to push in the clutch or else the track in the mud that lost traction would have hit the plow hitch,we own a Case IH. quadtrac now,it pulls straight even in the mud,I told our John Deere salesman let me know when John Deere comes out with a quadtrac, thats the only way to go!
The only grip on the JD is at the back of the wheels - the front has barely any weight on it (check 0:18 when the front drops) - if the front of the tracks has grip it would stand more of a chance.
@05hondarincon650 yeah quad are nice im a case fan but i have alot of respect for both of the companies cause they where made in america and america kicks ass and soo do us farmers in america
@05hondarincon650 yeah we do and alot of them stuck up city people think we have no point in this country but we have the hardest job and thats feeding their asses
even if the deere pulled it i would still rather have the case because you can turn in mud and not loose traction. we pulled our 71 foot morris through all kinds of mud with our 485 case and we never got stuck once.
With the ballast issue out of the way, then the choice of tractor for a tillage is clear assuming money is not an issue. Always wanted a quad trax. With corn prices this way maybe next year.lol. It would be neat to test it against a Challenger 975. I know we have a 955 and it never fails to impress. Makes our deere 9400 w triples look kinda bad. None the less. That's a helluva show..
I'm not biased on color. We farm with mostly yellow and green... But I will say this is not a fair tractor pull. (DUH) The Deere is not ballasted equally to the quad tracks... Even if it was I think it would still win. We have a 9400 and a 9400T. The t will outpull it until the instant the tire machine makes a turn.. Then its so long... So as for the pull. It's BS. Ballast them appropriately then try again....
@burnsjason81 they are both ballasted to the maximum that there manufacturer's offer. so yes it is fair. these are case and john deeres biggest tracked pulling tractors. one more time. yes it is fair.
@SWITCHBACK144 I would Question the square footage of track on the ground. The Deere Simply diddnt have enough traction, It kept spinning even tho it was being pulled backwards. Not lack of power, lack of traction.
@dubya1230 i would love to see that. go hook your 9630 with tires to your stx 535 on tires and pull. dont forget to film it. i cant wait for the results
@burnsjason81 u are full of crap. that john deeres biggest tractor and it has all its weight on just 2 tracks. its ballest is just fine and if it was unballested john deere was just stuipt enunuff to make like that and caseIH people r more smarter CASEIH rocks
@burnsjason81 You can't ballast them the same Jason, the Deere weighs nearly 10,000 lbs less than the QT does when both machines are unballasted. Max operating weight for the QT is 5,000 lbs more than the Deere. Deere just needs to add a little more steel to their tractors if they want to be competitive. Sure the Deere can pull more on concrete but as you can clearly see, that doesn't apply in the real world.
it's all about weight! it's just physics! look at the other video of a quadtrack against a tank... the tank has similar track ground print to the jd and walks off with the stx.(i'm an stx man myself).
another thing, there is no such thing as a caseIH anymore. it was bought over by new holland which is just Fiat/ford. you can buy the same tractor in red or blue with superficial changes( unless you buy some of the puma's which instead is based on the Styer) it was a sad day when CNH was born
case is a POS. ihave had more problems with them than any other tractors. Now my comment................nice video but i would like to see a JD quad track and that case go at it. Good luck farming guys. Hopefully it dries up soon. GETTING THE ITCH TO START PLANTING.
Our farm is all JD, but if I were to choose between an stx quad track and a 9030 t series I would go for the STX, as long as it lasts 8000 hours with few or minor problems it would be the way to go, way smoother ride, higher cab and in my opinion is alot better, you can look more down on your implents giving you better visibility, also the cab on the stx is much nicer than the JDs which hasn't really been changed since'95 when they introduce the 8000 series.
Anymay I'm a "CAT" guy and used to be (8 monthsago) a mechanic at a Case dealership. To be Honest, the transmission is not even close to the deere if we're talking about LONGLASTING and smooth shifts...
The design round the bay on the deere is way more intelligent when comes to service and maintenance. Simply better developed and made... sry for letting go my opinion...
The saddest thing tho, is that all these brands has joined each other. And that's often the reason why they becomes "rubbish" the Deere is the most original out on the market unfortunately...
You get what you pay for the deer is the cadellac of tracters of course, for a reason I dont farm and I dont run tracters but its a small town where I live and plenty of farmers here on the outside of town, I am a fan of the deer, and of cat. Both have been around a long time, but of harvester / navastar its one of the places in fort wayne that pays well, used to be the biggest truck manufacturer in the world till about 1986 when it was downsized now only a fraction of what they were.
why on earth should i care if the case is stronger because it has more weight and more traction than the deer. i go for quality more than power. :) to do an equal test take an 9320 and put on four tracks on it. then i would be interested on the result!
JD guys sure do have a lot of excuses! Case is heavier, they're not the same technology, blah blah blah. Bottom line is, if you go to the dealerships, these tractors are the ones in direct competition with each other. Case has four tracks because that's the way they are designed and it's OBVIOUSLY a better one because even diehard Deere guys are buying them. You can make all the excuses in the world, STX is a better tractor ALL AROUND, tire or track. :-)
I love how everyone gets pissed when the word Cat is used.. Calcahoun you do realize that Cat is coming out with vocational trucks tbis year right? And you do realize that their previous highway engines are very prestigous and Cat just didnt meet emission standards on them? And i have no idea where Cat vs. komatsu came into this. I would much rather operate Cat equipment than any other brand. Caterpillar has held up better than any other company for my family. And to be quite honest you can the
I am presently farming with a 435 quadtrack and find the results in the field impressive to say the least, less compaction, less soil disturbance turning corners more power pulling on corners than JD or CAT. All around just a better farm unit. How many JD's and Cat ag tractors do you see working in the oil patch or on highway construction, almost none ,they just can't hack it when the going gets tough.
@ChevRcr454 Technically, according to the official Nebraska test results, the Deere out pulls the Fiat (Quadtrack). BTW, you mean AGCO Challenger right? (since Cat doesn't built a tractor)
@ChevRcr454 Cat sold everything to AGCO about 10 years ago. The Nebraska tests pull at different throttle levels, all gears, ballast/unballast etc. I checked because I was sure the Quadtrack would outpull the Deere, just wanted to see by how much. I was wrong. Deere clearly outpulls Fiat/Quadtrack in most of the tests. So if I was in the market... Deere pulls more (and at higher speeds), is better on fuel...and is an American owned company. Hmmm... tough decision.
@n4x1c4 Lol forreal? I just cant believe your all arguing over dumb fucking tractors? who gives a shit which is better they both get the job done and make you buku bucks...lol go drink a bush light and when is nascar coming back on?
@GZUZ1991 How about you come say that to one of our faces? I love how tough you city boys think you are on a phone or computer. Think about what you said the next time you eat.... well ..... anything! Without us tough guy hick fags, you pussy little yuppies would STARVE!!!!! Nice vid btw Switchback 44. Don't bite the hand that feeds you literally. Let us fight over tractors because that's our livelyhood and you fight with your pillow bighter buddies about i pods or whatever.
@PCFD41 dude i live in a small town in kansas im surrounded by farmers and i do appreciate what you guys do for us i just dont get why your fighting over tractors? If they work so be it you don't have to fight over it?
case ih series: jxu,jx are from Italy,(cabin on jx is from Turkey),cs series from Austria(steyr factory),maxxum series from england.i think that just magnum and steiger are from US.most of all new case ih tractors haw Iveco engines (fiat)
Just watching the video, it's obvious why the Case won. For one, there's at least a little more track on the ground for the Case. I also wouldn't be surprised to find out there's at least a slight weight difference between the two.
here an opinion from someone who likes neither! i dislike JD and Case with a passion. immad about MF. (say what u like i dont give a shit, massey are AWESOME) but MF dont make big 4, 500 hp tractors. But if i did have a massive arable farm (6 or 7000 acres) i would have the quadtrac. It looks great and the track layout is brill. but if i were 2 choose between a MF 8690, JD 8345R or magnum 340. massey all the way!
@switchback144 If I'm reading the numbers correctly, the Nebraska tests show the maximum drawbar pull on the Deere 9630 is slightly greater than the Case 535 in almost every test. I did NOT think that would be the case. And the fuel consumption is better on the Deere (not to mention the higher hp too). But like I said before, I think the Quadtrack is a great idea - but I'm a little shocked it doesn't perform better.
@apolloman45 we wouldnt have the opportunity to hook a cat tractor up because we would never buy a piece of shit like that. but feel free to bring yours over and we will pull.
@SWITCHBACK144 Bring on the cat anyday friend and we wer one of the lucky guys who busted our ass early and were done seeding by the end of may. If we had two tracked tractors we would not have, try turn with your cat where its wet , good fucking luck i don't care how fancy your hydraulic hitch is you lack articulation, i have demo'd cats
@SWITCHBACK144 thats funny because that "piece of shit" has a better, more powerful motor and transmission. It has more weight. Plus a hell of a lot more traction than that case.
@apolloman45 For some reason there are people who despite the fact that cat in recent years couldn't build a highway engine without mechanical problems and quit,or can't pull against Komatsu with crawlers, you love to brag on them I find it just great when people actually support losers.
@kingkevy99 we did finish seeding by the end of May thanks to quad tracks, wishful thinking your cat would stand a chance, even on dry ground and forget about it if someone took a piss within 20 feet of that cat and it was a bit wet
Red= Fiat
Blue=Fiat
Yellow=Fiat

It would be neat to test it against a Challenger 975. I know we have a 955 and it never fails to impress. Makes our deere 9400 w triples look kinda bad. None the less. That's a helluva show..

nothing kills a deere like a case magnum
ibycubysd 10 months ago
I'm not biased on color. We farm with mostly yellow and green... But I will say this is not a fair tractor pull. (DUH) The Deere is not ballasted equally to the quad tracks... Even if it was I think it would still win. We have a 9400 and a 9400T. The t will outpull it until the instant the tire machine makes a turn.. Then its so long... So as for the pull. It's BS. Ballast them appropriately then try again....
burnsjason81 10 months ago
@burnsjason81 they are both ballasted to the maximum that there manufacturer's offer. so yes it is fair. these are case and john deeres biggest tracked pulling tractors. one more time. yes it is fair.
SWITCHBACK144 10 months ago 20
@SWITCHBACK144 I would Question the square footage of track on the ground. The Deere Simply diddnt have enough traction, It kept spinning even tho it was being pulled backwards. Not lack of power, lack of traction.
bigbadak 10 months ago
@SWITCHBACK144 how about we try the version of these tractors with tires and see who wins then?
dubya1230 8 months ago 3
@dubya1230 i would love to see that. go hook your 9630 with tires to your stx 535 on tires and pull. dont forget to film it. i cant wait for the results

@burnsjason8 well we mostly farm red and black.. the way it should be done
dawson272 6 months ago

Simply better developed and made... sry for letting go my opinion...
monberg88 1 year ago
The saddest thing tho, is that all these brands has joined each other. And that's often the reason why they becomes "rubbish" the Deere is the most original out on the market unfortunately...
monberg88 1 year ago

And to be quite honest you can the
apolloman45 1 year ago
I am presently farming with a 435 quadtrack and find the results in the field impressive to say the least, less compaction, less soil disturbance turning corners more power pulling on corners than JD or CAT. All around just a better farm unit. How many JD's and Cat ag tractors do you see working in the oil patch or on highway construction, almost none ,they just can't hack it when the going gets tough.

the Cat Challanger vs the 900T would be a better match up since both machines weigh about the same.
ChevRcr454 1 year ago
@ChevRcr454 Technically, according to the official Nebraska test results, the Deere out pulls the Fiat (Quadtrack). BTW, you mean AGCO Challenger right? (since Cat doesn't built a tractor)
AZTD1 1 year ago
@AZTD1 didn't know AGCO bougth them, my neighbor has a couple of Cat versions, and they're still yellow so i just assumed they're still Cats i guess.
that test was with dead weight though right?
ChevRcr454 1 year ago
@ChevRcr454 Cat sold everything to AGCO about 10 years ago. The Nebraska tests pull at different throttle levels, all gears, ballast/unballast etc. I checked because I was sure the Quadtrack would outpull the Deere, just wanted to see by how much. I was wrong. Deere clearly outpulls Fiat/Quadtrack in most of the tests. So if I was in the market... Deere pulls more (and at higher speeds), is better on fuel...and is an American owned company. Hmmm... tough decision.

Just watching the video, it's obvious why the Case won. For one, there's at least a little more track on the ground for the Case. I also wouldn't be surprised to find out there's at least a slight weight difference between the two.
CapnJim09 1 year ago
here an opinion from someone who likes neither! i dislike JD and Case with a passion. immad about MF.
