The reason this game is great is because when you play it, you forget that your even in a video game, and really get immersed into the game to the point where you deeply care about what's happening. It's so uncommon for a first person title to have this, which is why Bioshock deserves all the praise it's gotten!

I preferred this more survivalist Bioshock, that gave the feeling of living in the world rather than progressing on a "FPS level-based" system...

I also think it had more detail and atmosphere, esp in the lighting.

go to the 2k website and listen to the Bioshock 2 pod cast . its really good and tells alot of info about Bioshok 2 . the best part is that the main 2 guys responsible for making the first one so good are making the second . the lead designer that made the best level of the first witch was fort frolic is the lead designer for the entire game , witch to me is an EPIC WIN

half life is a really, really close second. i love half life (and anything else valve has a part in) but story wise, so far at least, i think bioshock is superior. as for the series' story, we will have to wait until half life 3 and bioshock 3 are out to fully compare them. but reguardless both games are 10 stars in my book :D

I love them both! I can't choose which one is first or second. They're both really really good shooters and I would love to see Half-Life with Bioshocks elements like Plasmids.. that would be major win!

good point. half-life 2 is more linear but is filled with intriguing puzzle and superior level design. in addition the pacing in half- life 2 is more varied and intense. bioshock on the other hand is more focused on a gripping and creepy atmosphere and a more open-ended approach to gameplay with more emphasis on character building and multiple ways to deal with different situations. both are incredible. I personally want FPS's to use the AI director ala L4D to create several new experiences

There are a couple things that are in this that I would have liked to see in the one that is out now. I like the costume that Jack is wearing in the original (which you can see in the trailers is a brown vest over a white long sleeved shirt and jeans)rather than the finished one (which you can see in photos in Rapture central control is a sweater and jeans) and the speed boost plasmid.
