  • @TheMercySeat321

    merci Mercy! :)

  • This is exquisite.

  • @iamsarahreid

I see you watched both versions ... :-) ... thanks again! ww

  • Para quien no lo sepa eso es un timple canario...

  • Jeez, dude you're just sick. This is probably best cover of this song, which is one of the best songs written EVER.

I'm gonna check more of your covers tommorow.

  • this is an awesome cover version, man. you are one talented dude. x

  • @turbot9

    thanks! :-)

  • @MissDimples87

    thank you, Miss Dimples! :-)

  • thank you -alice :)

  • @aliceecila9

    thank you alice! :-)

  • Wow!

  • Délicieuse et délicate version de ce très fin morceau. Cela met en évidence le classicisme de la composition et le lyrisme subtil que l'on retrouve dans la voix de Tom waits Super

  • Got more of a spanish vibe to it than the original. Nicely done cover.

  • A very good instrumental version. Thank you for it. Congratulations to you.

    Ron

  • @zimmyfan115

    thanks Ron!

  • nice

  • I'd love to hear your version of poor Edward but you'd do a great job. ***** 5 star quality

  • This is incredible. How do you strum?

  • not sure if I understand your question, as I think I dont strum at all ... .-)

    ww

  • @waitswatcher

He picks. I'm a guitarist too. This is very good. Congrats.

    Ron

  • wow beautiful.

  • thank you! :-)

  • Thanks a lot for a real gem.

  • Do you have any cds or downloads available? Very beautiful!

  • you can find some links on my channel page here on youtube ... :-)

  • Thank you so much, I am enjoying them right now!

  • cool - glad you like it!

  • so beautiful..

  • being a uke player myself, i must say that was great. far beyond anything i could pull off. your the man

  • This looks like "Poor Edward", no?

  • you might find an answer to your question if you browse all comments below ... ;-)

    cheers, ww

  • superb

  • WHooooaaaahhhhh. . . . .. .

    That's pretty awesome.

  • :-)

  • truly, proper beauty... i'm still in a little trance

  • Very beautiful!

    I love it.

  • Thank you

  • Beautiful. NO other comment is needed!

  • Why the hell are people rating sangah07 down?

He said its fuckin incredible which is what it is.

  • thank YOY :)))))))))) alice

  • Wonderfull! Respect.

  • FUCKING INCREDIBLE

  • bedankt!

    :-)

  • awesome! great job, i really like your arrangement. :)

  • Excellent fretwork and a pleasure to listen to. I keep hearing 'Poor Edward' trying to creep in there repeatedly, so you might want to change the description from just 'Alice' to 'Poor Edward and company' :)

    Excellent vid overall, though.

  • Damn. Now my ears are sure it's Poor Edward and they can't hear Alice at all :D

The performance is unbelievably beautiful. The watcher should rework now his Fawn cover and work -pretty please- on Fish and Bird, one of the sleepers of the album.

  • I send it too quick i think ^^ i mean the chords and the notes by "part".

  • sorry, but I have not written any tabs for this...

    greetings, ww

  • May you send me the part ? i really would like to play it ! Excuse for my poor english speaking i'm frensh, and i also don't know if i can send you a private message, so i'll wait for your answer there =)

    Beautiful interpretation, thanks !

  • beauty song , beauty sound , beauty play......bravo!!!

  • This is really pretty

  • that was absolutely stunning. it just shows how beautiful that song is-- that it can be interpreted in many ways, on many different instruments, and still be gorgeous :) really, thank you for sharing it with all of us.

  • That was gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing your music with everyone. Any tips on learning to play as well as you do?

  • This is the best cover of alice i can imagine

  • hey thank you willem!

    cheers,ww

  • I just realized Alice and Poor Edward have the same melody...

  • nearly .... but they surely have the same chords.

and they make a good couple ( or triple)...

    :-)

  • Absolutely amazing. Any advice for a guitarist trying to adapt songs to solo guitar? (which would be me!)

  • oh dear - I cant cover this in a few words...

one way: find chords, find bassline, find melody. play bass & melody together. add chordnotes on the remaining strings in between bass & melody.

I do it this way quite often, see my videos of:

    Time

    Never Hold Back Spring

Back In The Good Old World

    I Beg Your Pardon

    Picture In A Frame

    etc... :-)

    ww

  • Yeah, it was a pretty broad question! Thanks for the tips though, it'll take me a while to get there 'cos I'm pretty new to this style of playing, but I'm determined to do it

  • cool - have fun! :-)

It can be helpful if you find piano scores of a certain song, or maybe guitar chord sheets.

You can use them as a starting point.

  • this is amazingly beautiful. thanks for sharing.

  • cool. i've been trying to figure it out on my ukelele.

  • that's pretty impressive. sounds real nice. is your ukelele in standard tuning?

  • thanks .... yes, standard tuning.

  • Great job man! Did you just figure this yourself or are there tabs for it? If so, are there guitar tabs? Please point me in the right direction, I've been dying to learn this song for a really long time.

  • I did this version myself, but there is a music sheet book available for the Alice album.

You should find the chords there.

    Maybe check amazon...

    cheers, ww

  • nice, but the song is "poor edward" off of the alice album. but i like your rendition of it. im kind of a tom waits nerd so its a treat whenever someone covers his work as well as you.

  • thank you!

There was a similar comment before... let me repeat:

Alice & Poor E are basically the same songs, regarding the chord progression, but with a slightly different melody. I play Poor E too, but different from this version.

Maybe try to sing along Poor E, it doesnt really fit.

So this IS Alice, damnit!!! :-)

    cheers, ww

  • Wow, that was beautiful!

  • thank you, shirley!

  • Man, you are good!

  • thanks, glad you like it!

    ww

  • Beautiful. I assume this was your own arrangement - you have a great gift.

  • thank you & yes, its my own arrangement.

    ww

  • When I first saw that this was not the song itself, I made ready to depart to the actual version, only to find that in my mesmer I would not dare change from this page.

    I'm having troubles yet.

  • thanks a lot for the nice comment.

I hope you've managed to escape in in the meantime... :-)

    cheers, ww

  • Ofcourse its alice whoever wrote that down below.really nice makes me wana buy a uke!

  • This is Poor Edward, not Alice.

  • up to you .. its the same chord progression... I'd play poor ed a bit different though...

  • I hope you will consider doing tabs for this one, Pascal. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • this is great music.

  • Thanks... and to think I didn't used to like Tom Waits !

  • thank you.... never too late to get into TW!

  • very good. get a bass and a sax player

  • utterly amazing....so beautiful and creepy at the same time. you kept the mystery that tom would have wanted.

  • the tears on my face and the skates on the pond they spell alice.Tom takes me to a dark place in my heart and i feel you play from a similiar place.

  • Bravo once again bro! You do this song justice and Mr. Waits would and should be proud of you! I wish you would do his whole collection! Take care my friend!

    Peace ouTY!

    TAMMRON

  • Aw, yay! One of my all time favorites, from one of my all time favorite albums. And you do it justice too. :) It help that my name is Alice, so you can see where my affection comes from.

  • Classical beauty

  • Great Pascal! Just beautiful :-)

    cheers Maja

  • one of your best Pascal!

  • Just beautiful.. AHHHH!

  • How wonderful is listen that music! Thank you so much for sharing your great talent!

  • beautiful as always, and this time maybe even more beautiful.

i never really listened to nor liked tom waits, and after hearing you play his tunes (that i don't know) i will surely never listen to him, it can only be a disappointing experience.

if this would have been a purchase on ebay, i'd have written as feedback: A+ youtuber, highly recommended.

  • you might really enjoy the album that this is from though...It's his most mystical, and least abrasive work. My personal favorite.

  • Thank you, zaza, always a pleasure to read your comments.

I'm not a waits missionary at all, I dont care if people like him or not (as long as they dont bother me with their opinions about him), but maybe you should give his music a try. I cant believe you'll be disappointed. You'll find something that you will get nowhere else in the music world.

    :-)

    cheers, ww

  • Delicate and very poetic cover of Tom song, you have a great talent in rearranging songs to your style ! Thanks for make me dreaming during the light of day !

  • Oh Pascal! Sooooooooo beautiful! Cheers to mi gifted Pascal! I'd sing to that instrumental but I'm afraid to make it dirty with my voice coz it's so fu, someone told me not to use that word very often - soooooooooooo beautiful!!!

    Peace,

    Sis

  • Thank you so much,Sis!

Feel free to use it as a background track and sing along, but I fear it wont fit the lyrics very well, as it is semi improvised - not a very acurate cover version... :-)

  • that's allright, my singing is not very occurate either ;o) I just love what u do!

  • Superb

  • Was da an Licht fehlt, wird durch tollen Klang kompensiert! ;)

  • stimmt, etwas dunkel geraten...

    Danke!

  • That was beautiful and relaxing. Stress reliever! :)

  • Just about the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. I'm actually weeping. ^^

  • Wow, it really got to you. I read "Ukulele" and couldn't get "Blue Hawaii" out of my head.

  • aw...sorry! It wasnt supposed to make you weep! :-)

  • wonderful interpretation...! and def. no kitsch!! :-)

  • thanks T.! :-)

  • Lovely.
