@guitarsdave There are several reasons, I think I explained it in the series. Continue watching, and if it still doesn't make sense then send me another message and I'll go into some detail for you.
Just a big thanks for taking the time to film and post these videos, they are great. I'm in the process of swapping a Warmoth neck onto my Strat and your videos have been tremendously helpful. I can honestly say that my project is in much better shape and of much higher quality because of your vids. Keep up the great work!
What is your opinion on Warmoth bodies vs. Fender bodies? I am building a "Jazz-o-caster" type guitar and a Warmoth body will be able to have the correct routs without me taking it to a luthier. Is the finish of a Warmoth true to the original Fender finish they're based off of? Thanks,
I STRONGLY recommend it, regardless of what their website may say. Even $100 guitars get a fret leveling before they leave the factory. Why should Warmoth or anybody else's neck be different?
I've dealt with several over the years, and they seemed to adjust well. But at least twice I was working on the necks to secure loose frets. Draw whatever conclusions you want from that I guess. Mighty Mite isn't my first choice, but I don't have anything against them certainly.
Hey Jason, just wanted to say thanks for showing your body block a little more. It clarified alot of things for me. I'll still get hold of you, to hpofully get a couple more details on it if you have the time. Anyways Appreciated you shwing this man. Cheers, IC.
I am putting together a Warmoth guitar right now. I have the same issue with my maple/maple neck. The guitar shop I was going to take it to suggested I could do it myself by taping off the neck with painters tape and using #0000 steel wool. I did it and it worked fine as well. Interesting to see there are several different methods.
I'm enjoying your video lessons, Jason. They're very informative, but I do have a question for ya. You're using a Warmoth, but what about Musikraft? Have you found any disparity in the quality of the necks or the woods they're using?
Hmmm, ok. I'd be relly interested in your opinion about Musikraft if you should ever work on one of their necks. I'm trying to decide between Musikraft and Warmoth.
I take a razor blade to the sides of the frets then take a dental tool and scrape the finish off. If done right with a nice sharp blade you should have no problems
a plaque scraper(little hook thing) you do have to be carefull not to slip onto the neck finish but it gets right in the base of the fret and works great for me
Ok, gotcha. Yeah, I'd probably tape off the board if I went that route. In the past I've used a scribe to score the lacquer at the base of the fret, but it makes me nervous so I tend not to go that route these days.
I always tape off the neck...you'd regret it every time if you don't. hey I've always said that guitar players/techs are the most innovative people on the planet. I've also used this tool that I got from an arts and craft store that's used to shape clay, it's not sharp but has a nice edge to it.
Thanks

the piece of wood, pretending to be the body that put it on the Neck Jig, where can I buy it? Thanks and congratulations for the video. Hello Luca

@chitarra2001 You can't purchase them anymore. But StewMac has the dimensions available on their website so that you can make your own.

@AlexDeMars123 Do you mean the color or the chemistry of the Fender finishes?
smbstressfest 1 year ago
@smbstressfest I mean both color and chemistry. Will I be able to tell it apart from a Fender body?

do you have to level the frets on warmoth necks?

How are Mighty Mite necks? I hear mixed reviews of them.

I can't really comment, because I've never actually worked on a Musikraft neck before...

the finish that was on my frets was never poped off so it just came off from playing it for years
