  • I have seen many, many films in my past 20 years. And only one film has ever made me cry. It was this film, and it was this scene.

    I was 12. haha.

  • To this day I have no idea why he didn't finish Macquire off at the Accountant's. No idea.

  • To this day I have no idea why he didn't finish Macquire off at the Accountant's. No idea.

  • SUCK IT jude law!!!

  • whats the soundtrack playing when tom hanks dies?

  • The boy, Tyler Hoechilin, he's now on Teen Wolf

  • there's a similar scene in The Shootist. John Wayne is dying, and he tells Ron Howard to throw the gun away, he does, and Wayne is content. Jude Law was never so sleazy ('cept maybe when he was arrested with the prostute, the thing that broke up his engagement to Elizabeth Hurley) :D

  • @wrybreadspread I think you're getting Jude Law confused with Hugh Grant.

  • @oleander25 dang. you are correct. i've defamed jude law. there go my bragging rights to being a tabloid maven

  • Well I just noticed a problem with this awesome scene. When Tom hanks gets shot in the back the bullets also go through his chest which should mean they hit the window causing the glass to shatter.

  • jude law should be FUCKd in the ass

  • I gave this video the only thumbs down. 'The End Scene' should have started with their approach towards the beach in the car. Not with Tom Hanks walking towards the window.

  • this made me cry , so touching

its uploaded on my birthday aswell

  • Why didn't the bullet break the glass on the exit wound? Awesome scene though.

  • @Antimatter1979 remember this was set back in 1931, which means guns weren't as powerful to cause exit wounds at least not with the pistol the hitman was using

  • end monologue always gets me to tear...

  • I really did hate the end but the whole movie was outstanding and beautiful. tom hanks is a genious

  • My all time favourite movie... Best soundtrack too... Just P-E-R-F-E-C-T !!

  • @al3xdroid3 better soundtrack than American Beauty?! That's a huge claim

    !

  • @mcw8465 lol, I just realised the American Beauty soundtrack is in the suggested videos......

  • @mcw8465 Got me on that one... There are some really great original scores! Don't forget about Conan, the Barbarinan.... by Basil Poledouris! Amazing too

  • @al3xdroid3 That is true, a fantastic score! My favourite overall film composer has to be Jerry Goldsmith tho, Alien, 5 Star Trek films, just a truly iconic composer.

  • Jude Law is so creepy in this movie, but the imagery is beautiful and the ending is just perfect. "None of us will see heaven!" "Michael could." "Then do everything you can to see that that happens."

  • I'm one of the most stoic guys around, and I cried like a little girl during this. This movie is living proof that "movie critics" don't know their asses from their elbows!

  • @lou4brew Hey now, movie critics rated this pretty well.... Just not the 98-100% like I would've given it!

  • Favor returned. U can watch Hulk vs. Abomination I call this real brawn slugfest!

  • The sea reflecting in the window. Dying bloody Tom Hanks laying down against the white wall. The slow zoom-out at the end when the kid's crying. When he looks out at the sea...The whole scene at the beach house is just a piece of art. I love this movie.

  • Smile.

  • Jude Law rules

  • He's behind you!

  • Excellent performances all around, but I actually realllly liked the kids performance here too. Unlike most child actors he never seems to overdue his acting, and I thought he actually held his own with Tom, Jude, and Paul fairly well. Beautiful ending though, I loved that it still ended on a somewhat happy note despite him losing his father. One of the most underrated movies I've ever seen along with Unbreakable.

  • This scene fucking killed me. The movie too.

More than Titanic, I assure you.

  • The music is just so beautiful in this film. Probably my favourite.

  • I wish more people knew about this movie, it really is spectacular. Soooo underappreciated.

  • WIL-SONNNNN!!

  • @HogwartsCastle you and me both

  • The boy that plays Michael Jr., hes in Teen Wolf. He plays Derek and hes so sexy

  • One of the most memorable scenes in a movie ever. This has always stuck with me. Tom? You've truly outdone yourself. The young boy wasn't bad either, of course. Great movie.

  • Id love to see your house!!

  • The end scene was shot 4 minutes away from my house

  • @Ringwraith NO way!.... by the way!.,.. that like your comment has it's mine.. haha!

  • A great movie, all the way around. But only in Hollywood can the GOOD guy get shot TWICE in the back from ten feet away and still live long enough to shot the BAD guy 5 minutes later from the same distance. And, of course, his ONE shot finished off the BAD guy for good.

  • @000SMITH000 Who the fuck are you? A cocksucker for Jude Law? This is one of the very best movies of the decade. Apparently you are a horrible critic. The movie isn't about "bad guys" and "good guys". As far as I'm concerned this movie is about a father and son.

  • @roxtar55 It is a great film, just a bit unrealistic at the end. By the way......why didn't the glass shatter when Tom Hanks got shot ? The bullet clearly went through him because you see the blood. I guess the bullet must have bounced off of the window, huh? LOL.....more Hollywood nonsense.

  • @000SMITH000 LOL dude ur acting like this is a Transformers film. Dude, it's about the story, a made-up story. Plot > special effects.

  • @roxtar55 You can make up a story and still obey the laws of physics. I'm just saying it was sloppy film making, that's all.

  • @000SMITH000 Well, that's the difference between science and art. One explores laws of morals, one explores laws of physics. Pick your poison.

  • @roxtar55 "...One explores laws of morals, one explores laws of physics..." Great films do both.

  • @000SMITH000 Well, unless you're talking about Julius Sumner Miller films, ofcourse. Ahaha

  • @roxtar55 Then we are in agreement. Good.

  • @000SMITH000 Agreed to disagree, yep.

  • @roxtar55 Right.

  • @000SMITH000 well if jude laws character wasnt so insane and greedy he could have killed hanks' character with another shot, but he wanted to get photos of him dying first. people have been shot way more than twice and lived for more than a few minutes, its not just in hollywood... however a good shot to the head will usually put you out quick. the guy making the argument about why the glass doesnt get hit by a bullet, but has blood sprayed on it has a better argument. but in the end, who cares

  • @penal420 Jude laws character took pictures of bodies - he didn't care if they were dead or still dying. And I know it's possible to be shot twice and still live, but isn't it funny how it always takes just one shot to kill the bad guy? By the way, I am the guy who made the argument about the glass not breaking.

  • @000SMITH000 well thats true that law didnt usually care. but in the case of micheal sullivan's character, who has a reputation for being an incredibly dangerous man, it would be a very good trophy for a man like jude laws character to have proof that he killed him, or at the very least, had photos of him in his last moments. plus this hit was personal to law's character since sullivan fucked up his face earlier in the movie during their shootout. the mob already called off sullivans hit.

  • No matter how many times I see this film, I boo-hoo cry! The feeling of overwhelming horror knowing you've met your end with your son witnessing it, is beyond gut-wrenching.

  • A genuinely beautiful and touching movie, and not just this end scene. It deals with that trickiest of subjects - the father/son relationship - with genuine restraint and intimacy. Mendes' finest film, in my opinion. The line at the end - "He was my father" - gets me every time. And let's not forget the heartbreaking Thomas Newman soundtrack. I can also heartily recommend the original graphic novel by Max Allan Collins. Very violent and different to the movie, but the artwork is lovely.

  • i love it when mcguire says to michael "dont you do this" almost like he doesnt want to die and hes scared that the kid will kill him. also anyone else notice that when mcguire dies he falls flat down like a mannequin doll, its really funny.

  • i remember getting so pissed off when he said "smile".

  • This is my favorite movie of all time, and I always cry so hard when I see this part ;C

  • Why doesn't the window shatter when Michael Sr. gets shot? His blood splashes on the glass, so the bullets obviously pierced him, so why don't they damage the glass? I've noticed this in many movies. Is it a ballistics thing or what?

  • @gartnavel89 bullet proof glass ;)

  • @gartnavel89

The correct answer is that it's a fucking movie.

  • That little kid has more talent than Tom hanks and Jude law together! haha okay mabe not... but he was really convincing..

  • Comment removed

  • That photographer was a creep, hated that guy....

  • Why does this film not get more credit?!?!

  • this was one of my top favorite movies for many reasons including exellent storyline heart reaching music and brings me memories of my favorite game "mafia"

  • amazing film

  • most touching movie ever made - there's nothing more to say

  • @purpleGoAhead Watch Shawshank Redemption. Then make that comment there

  • 0:01

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • when people ask me if he was a god man , or not i just tell them one thing- he was my father......!!!!!!! best qout ever riten for a father and sun story!!!!!! i love to wach this mouvie with my father!!!!!.....

  • @epicvlas you gotta fix your vocabulary up..

  • why didn't the glass break.

  • @JuanCalderonHop If they did exit the body then the speed was brought down so much that they didn't have enough force to break the glass thereafter. And they're thick windows.

  • @JuanCalderonHop

The bullets didn't go all the way through. He most likely was using small caliber ammunition or maybe hollow-points. Remember this was the 30s, bullets weren't what they are now.

  • that gunshot scared the heck out of me when i first saw this

  • @HogwartsCastle who doesn't haha

  • i would have no problem shooting that crazy dude i would shoot him in the balls then work my way up
