  • Not bad kid

  • good job Bro I will do this project this week to...wish me luck^^

  • Nice job. Now you will be the "techie" for all your friends with broken electronic devices. Thanks for making the video. I need to pull a G4 apart too.

  • Oh fuck dude, I have the same problem on my macbook...

But yours is a trillion times worse then mine.

  • awesome video i wish i had a mac my freakin windows xp is slow so i have to fix it :D

  • GLENNERS!

  • i own that same computer.

  • Great vid

  • nice vid, im kinda in the same boat. bought a G4 1.33ghz ibook at a thrift store w/ a cracked LCD for $20!

im going to try to install a G3 LCD, its cheaper, but ill have to change the LCD data cable which is connected to the logic board. YIKES!

maybe ill make a video of my frankenstein attempt and post it on YOUtube

anyone else with LCD woes check out this awesome site - ifixit com

hope my end result is the same as glen's.

if anyone has successfully tried what i am, post a message here.

    thanks!

  • apples suck hp wins

  • u kinda look like my friend mike.

    congrats on your screen.

  • Well done!!

I dropped my iBook and had an almost identical broken screen. Just got a 2nd hand (used) screen from eBay. Saw your video and it's given me the confidence to repair it myself.

You should know that the lcd screen contains mercury (very harmful), so dispose of it very carefully. I would not advise anyoneone to spin it!!!

    Thanks Appledefender.

  • you are good!

  • i ave a powerbook G4 17 inch..and i had to replace the Inverter Board..Inside the screen where it says powerbook(or iboo)..macs have problems with such issues.let alone with the batery recall

  • Spinning an old LCD monitor isnt good when its got cracks cause the fiberglass shrapnel, i learned that the hard way with my old laptop ._.

  • are you looking to sell it at all?

  • Congrats! That must take skills... Any idea how I could do the same on a MacBook, as it has no screws on the side? (Just in case :))

  • CONGRATS

    !

  • I'm also curious, I can't recall if you've mentioned—what are the specs on this Mac? Hard drive, CPU, RAM? It's pretty nice of your cousin to give it to you. Looks like a great machine.

  • I'll give you the specs here. 1.42ghz power pc processor, 512mb ram, 14" screen, 32mb video memory, 60gb hard drive.

  • Ah yes! A fixed LCD screen! Congratulations. Thanks for this video, it was really informative. (Though I do not even anticipate replacing my own laptop screens! Too chicken.)

  • hmm, good video...

  • Yes, your average joe can't replace lcd screens in a laptop.

  • apparently he can.

  • pull out your bb gun glen, lets wreck your old one lol :P

  • good idea! Come over today and we'll film it!

  • is this the 14 inch

  • yup

  • well done

  • The spinning was the best part. Otherwise very informative and great tutorial at that! I forgot how LCD can be expensive, but that's really not a bad price for it. Especially since you got it for free. ;)

  • Hooray! Another Mac up and running. Good job on the screen. That Mac looks nicer now that its working properly with a new LCD.

  • Awesome job, Glen.

  • thats awesome an ibook for only $200 thats so cool

  • Love the screen. It was actually painful to look at your old screen running beautiful OS X.

  • cool nice video, i'm glad you fixed your screen. hope to see some more videos from you later
