Why are they trying to make Roarschac into some kind of daredevil. The one and only time he tries to make a death defying leap in the novel he practically kills himself landing on a trash can. The only thing he does out of the ordinary is act psychotically, burning people alive, breaking fingers, stubbing out cigarettes in their eyes other than that he's physically average.

HE said something along the lines that if he didn't change some elements to the ending then the studio would've made him change most of the story all together for some reason I can't remember, making the movie a watered down PG-13 movie. and he didn't want that to happen.

Most of the ending is still there, he just got rid of the giant squid and replaced it with a machine that mimics Dr. Manhattan's powers.
