  • I imagine it would not have been worthwhile transporting it to the lower 48 for scrap metal during World War II.

  • Not exactly old it should still work. My shed is older

  • "Oh my god, Don" lol

  • guess it was well greased when it was built

  • you people are so funny and that looks like a lot of fun.

  • Awesome! We had a rich history here but none of it remains. :(

  • so it only was used for 10 years

  • donde esta ubicado esto?

  • Alaska, man I would love to go and see stuff like this. Forget the tourist attractions, stuff like this is what true pioneers built and left behind.

  • Your a star Don.

  • lets see if they can push it with 100tons on it

  • That is amazing! What an extraordinary find to see a turntable that's been abandoned for over 70 years to still be able to move.

  • long live duck grease and leather bearings! lol

  • even with 80 years+ they were built to handle 100s of tons of fully fuled locomotive, so a 200+ lbs person wouldn't do anything to tose beams, unless REALY rusted.

  • There is one of these in my hometown! Canada's last operating manual turntable. Very cool :)

  • It's amazing how balanced a 100,000 pound piece of steel is. I've never seen anything like this. What a great find!

  • too true. i really would have thought it would have been rusted right to its base.

  • Amazes me all the vegitation thats grown around it. Errie.

  • That turn around was built well, considering it was built 80 years ago and has endured 80 years of Alaska weather.

  • where in alaska is that?

  • very nice find!!

  • Come on Don, We can both leave the old ladies at home and we will both go run back and forth across it in peace, we can even turn it around all the way as many times as we want. and we won't have to hear a bunch of "yap yap yap" great video

  • This is NEAT. I'm sorry I missed seeing this last week. Such an incredible place. Thanks for sharing.
