  • The last tone almost sounds like a Bach organ. Cool.

  • Hi! Can someone tells me if this effect goes well with a boss ds 1? if not, what distortion pedal do you recommend to play it along with this octave effect?

  • @lorithimas1 I recommend a good fuzz :) Big Muff!

  • god i hate demos when i hate the style of their playing

  • I always hated this guy, i don't like his castrato voice, i don't like his bored playing and i really hate his reviews. How i ended here? going from one video to another, what an accident!

  • I'm annoyed.

  • Thanks for this, best Micro POG review I have seen on YouTube!

  • thanks for playing some chords!

  • Great review, but it seems like a pretty useless (or extremely niche) effect; I can imagine maybe picking this up in the studio for one little passage, but I can't imagine EVER needing this on my pedal board full-time. I guess I'm just a purist. Also, I don't care how good the tracking is getting for this type of effect, it still sounds gimmicky. But again, great review - I enjoy your reviews.

  • @zakhansonfan at 200$ I have no use for this pedal!

  • @zakhansonfan You listen to The White Stripes? Their guitarist, Jack White, uses octave pedals a shit load, and it's actually pretty interesting.

  • @MyEverConstantSmile Nah I'm not really into them, but if you've got some particular songs in mind I'll check it out. There's just so many "useless" effects out there, you know? Like the ring modulator. I only just recently heard that on on an album (some song on RHCP's "By The Way") first time ever for me. Anyhoo, yea, tell me some particular songs.

  • @zakhansonfan The intro to Blue Orchid and the solo in Black Math has some octave wankery. I agree that it may not be useful in most musical settings, but I think it's a cool pedal to mess around with.

  • @zakhansonfan yeah but you get a pretty decent 12 string effect and that's without changing guitars

  • If the real fun begins at 8:50, what the fuck have I been doing watching 9 minutes of fake fun?

  • I had the original one, I liked the sounds better because of the eq filter option. But there was something wrong with it from the start...the signal went out and came back...so I took it back to the store. I like this one as well though, it's small and can make an ok organsound. I have had it in two years now and it works like a charm. I use it for 12 string and organ sounds in my trio. You can hear it live on my liveclip from the venue posten on my channel if you like :-)

  • all these effects...i'l building a pedal board flight case...

  • too much talking to start with!! get on with it!!! FFS!!

  • @nicktmayer The oldest one is called a Harmonic Octave Generator (HOG) Then the Micro POG came out in 2004 followed by the POG 2 in early 2011.

  • is it good for bass?? doe it support low frequencies 100%?

  • Groovy, Man :) :)

  • just play it already

  • this pedal is $200 bucks! LMAO!

  • @missinglink27 That's because Electro Harmonix makes the absolute best pedals.

  • Sounds like you could do a lot of Byrds tunes with this thing.

  • The old one is called a "Hog" not a "Pog". FYI

  • @tybanez555 the old one is called the Pog but now they've updated it it to the Pog 2. FYI

  • @MeanGreenMovies Ummmmm... you are totally wrong on this one. The oldest one was called the HOG (Harmonic Octave Generator), then the Micro POG came out in 2004 followed by the POG 2 in 2011 ;)

  • @tybanez555 fair enough but the POG is mainly just octaves, the HOG oscillates so it's almost an unfair comparison

  • @MeanGreenMovies The POG 2 also oscillates, so technically it would be a pretty fair comparison. I have owned all 3.

  • Bought the pedal love it! Great review!

  • Excellent review!

  • Nice job on this video. I bought this pedal. I love it.

  • good review.

    professional and informative.

  • is this better than the boss oc-3 octave pedal? whats the difference?

  • whats the difference between this micro pog and the normal pog

  • @punkiassjunki Great idea bro, LISTEN TO HIM AT THE START OF THE VIDEO, or you know... LOOK AT THE WEBSITE. God youtube is full of the most ignorant people. *facepalm*

  • @punkiassjunki i think the boss can only do octave up. im now a fan of boss though so dont take my word for it

  • Well now I know what Im getting for chistmas... the problem is the price! I was also thinking of getting a few other pedals but w/e.

  • i would get this pedal simply for the sub octave, the octave up just sounds ridiculous to me.. like a church organ

  • very useful pedal from shredding to ambiant

  • i want to make sweet love to that guitar

  • Fucking brilliant pedal.

  • God - as soon as those advertisements start, I move on.

  • @AlanSturgess Get real. If you could turn AdSense on, you would do it. They put hundreds of reviews for free, and they ask nothing in exchange.

  • @nirvanafrik How do you know I'd switch on Adsense? When I look for Youtube demos, it's the demos I want, not advertisements. I often return to demos if they're useful (eg: in the case of the POG, demos can help if you've got that gizmo and want some info or tips) - I certainly don't want feckin' advertisements every time. So, for me, as soon as I click on a link and up pops an advert - it's time to look elsewhere.

  • fuck Garnier fructis style genll...

  • love paul, dont like the pedal tho

  • thats a pretty good sound, not so much lag or etc for what it is

  • i love how he goes from playin little baby riffs to jammin out at the end

  • i'm sold the tracking chords on thissounds amazing! thanks paul!

  • 7:12 "whats my age again" on acid

  • @domokunbogle loool...nothing like whats my age again xD

  • hello... digitech whammy?

  • @anim8orjoey hello... size?

  • I want to see the ad again, more interesting than the demo..

  • can this be used on a bass?

  • @sidwho123 HELL YEAH IT CAN!

I tried it 'gains the Multiplexer and even though both are different to almost no comparisson, I'm getting this one as my next pedal (Y)

  • Where's the distortion stage placed here? Is it from the amp or is it from another unseen stomp box?

  • is he reviewing or advertising that thing?

  • "Lets hear what that sounds like" hehe, ;)

Great review man. First time I've actually heard someone talk about how playing technique relates to the pedal they are reviewing on youtube. Good job. I'll be checking out more of your stuff.

  • The 2 note octave up sounds terrific! Great review. Indeed, more reviews should be as thorough as this one. Top marks!

  • is this like a Harmonizer? Like the Eventide? Can i use this for the intro of Aces High?

  • what a horrible les paul!

  • @jaimico777 its an esp

  • @fairfaxsurfshoprider Yeah man.... i know.. but i dont like it, and is my opinion

But off course i like all the videos of this dude jajajajja

whatever .... Thats for the correction! ;)

  • @jaimico777 Huh? It's an ESP NOT a Gibson LP.. and what's wrong w it?

  • Juswt play the fucking thing!!!! Why do you get the impression we want to hear you blabber on. Jeez. It took 3 minutes to hear a sound sample...

  • One of the best reviews I've seen yet. Keep it up, mate. Really appreciate it.

  • Where is the Micro POG supposed to be in an effect chain? before or after distortion?

  • @Cnaeus

probably after maybe around the chorus/reverb

  • @Cnaeus or anywhere EQ somewhere around there

  • @Cnaeus

imho it will need quite a clean signal to enable it to track well, so put it at the front just after the compressor.

  • @Cnaeus definitely before. I've got this thing on my board and its much smoother before the distortion, but after my wah for some reason. If you put it after your distortion its going to sound very harsh and muddy

  • anybody stupid enough to put the word "dumb" in their screen name should be careful what they say

  • bass ftw

  • this is a great review, i really needed some info on ehx pogs i am thinking of getting the original but this cheaper version seems just as impressive

  • @roshjosh Is there anything wrong with you?; Of course there is!; Are you a fucking retard? Hell Yeah!! It's true ma'am, roshjosh has no dick

  • "Now that I'm done spazing my hand in front of the camera, I'm going to take about a few minutes explaining something very simple, then play specific styles of music really fast so you think this will make you good and won't know how it will really change your equipment."

  • @JoeJoeTater That's so true.

  • Paul rules!

  • The POG is micro. The price is not.

  • I don't understand why people are hatin' on this guy. He's no where near as bad jason Spencer and that other pothead

  • Micro POG eh?, looks like am going to have to invest :).... Like really really soon.

  • gj, at 9:02 starts the good music :)

  • Hahaha..... Sometimes, this sounds like a trumpet or Guitar Pro 5. XD

  • wow at around 6:10 sounded pretty

  • lame as hell

  • @roshjosh I stand by my original comment.

  • fuck that im buying one..yup yup

  • fuck now 33

  • how does this go down on bass guitar?

  • @woodenmud This guy will go down on anything :O

  • i wonder if system of down uses this

  • yeah i think so

  • I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive. (over $200)

  • The problem with these demos is that what we hear is not the signal coming out of the ampspeakers alone, but they added reverb, compression and equalisation to enhance the sound. Not authentic.

  • @inotissallov That's because they aren't unbiased reviews. They are advertisements. Notice they never even show the basic info, such as the amp. Why? Because a $500 guitar is going to sound awesome through a $3k amp. It's smoke and mirrors.

  • @smoss469 Which is why people should watch more private videos instead of being brainwashed by advertisements. I totally agree.

  • I love the sound with distorsion!

  • you nerds that talk shit on reviews are complete nob slobbers

  • Sorry buddy but you speaking to fucking much

  • damn this demo sucks

  • nah man paul from guitar worlds cool, you should see the dick from world music supply

  • I have this pedal and this is a really bad demo for it, try it out for yourself......

  • @PlumfulPixie How is it a bad demo??

  • doesnt show the full potential of the pedal, I like their other demos

  • @PlumfulPixie there's no youtube video that'll show the full potential of a guitar pedal. it doesn't really make it a bad video

  • goddamn advertisements :-/

  • you know the more and more i watch this dude I realize that he has no idea what he is talking about. the dry knob has obvious changes to the "dryness/ wetness" of the sound. Every time i click on his videos i end up frustrated and disappointed....

    GUITAR WORLD: IF YOUR LISTENING

PLEASE GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO THESE VIDEOS

  • +1

    you re right! man

  • I totally disagree! I watched other youtube reviews and I felt like this one was one of the best. I love Paul's reviews.

  • I agree. Paul consistently has reliable reviews. This one is no exception.

  • @lastdon5581 Oh I agree, slurp slurp, you're a fucken retard as well.

  • @stevesawatsky You retards should suck his dick for a living, I'm sure he'd like that. Fags

  • This thing is so cool. It's like adding virtual strings to your guitar.

  • n00b!

  • Because you're paying for quality.

  • My man LOVES the key of D!

  • harsh

  • this is one funny pedal :D

  • For the price a complete waste of money!

  • i like this guy, confident informative review. i want one

  • This guy really ought to use non-EMG pups for clean tones. That guitar sounds like shit on a speaker when it's clean.

  • get some seymour duncanzzzz

  • Yeah...you'd think they'd know better.

  • The tracking is stellar.

  • I don't like how this guy tells you how to play when you're using this pedal...

  • I agree totally.

and why is that almost every pedal demo, its douche bags playing like bluesy rock all the time?

  • because blues and rock are the foundations of every kind of modern western music.

    that and metal sucks..

I kind wish he'd done this demo on a guitar without EMG pickups... those things sound like a buzz saw

  • So...

I know nothing really about guitar effects but I own a Morley Power wah and A Big Muff. But I play bass...

So I'm pretty much wondering will I be able to wire one of these up to a bass?

Also I want to put a talkbox on too, But I don't know if it will sound like crap or not.

  • i use a big muff with a bass, sounds pretty nice but gain needs to be lowish. a wah too will work.

  • anything you plug into a guitar you can plug into a bass. Often, guitar fuzzboxes like the big muff sound miles better than fuzzes that are made for bass. The wah will sound very good too, the talkbox may not work but im not sure. The rest wilLXD

  • If you can get a boss PS-3 it will do this + it has extra modes + up to 2000ms delay

  • I have one and it its good for detune and 5th and 4th harmonies, everything else sucks ballz.

  • yeah but this is polyphonic, it tracks chords

  • 09:13 is awesome sounding

Thanks again for such an in-depth review.

  • I'm buying it! I hope they aren't too expansive. :D

  • they are.

  • Leave guitar world guy alone!!! T_T !!! leave him alone im serious!!!

  • Serial*

  • Leave him alooone!! :'( I'm serial!!!

  • doesnt anyone have anything to talk about but this guys sexuality?

  • Styx....Ah...it's been too long since I last listened to them

  • i want one!

  • I want his guitar lol

  • so, whats is this story like..???

  • there a people who want to know more than how the pedal sounds...

  • yeah, lets bash him. because he's different. and we need to make sure that everyone's the same, dude.

  • even if he is, he has better equipment than you, is a better guitarist than you and a faaaar more exciting job!

crawl back in your hole you redneck white trash arsehole. sexual preference has nothing to do with guitar equipment or talent!

  • fuck you ! fucking dick

  • it's possible a organ like sound with less clean guitar sound?

  • thanks its so simple,

does anybody recommend this MINPOG ?

  • you need to play iron lung by radiohead! :)

  • you just did it hahaha

  • It's coded to put it in simply by right the time in the comment section.

  • its automatic

  • 6:05 such a beautiful sound.

  • Comment removed

  • At 4.28 I wonder if he realised he was playing the one-note intro to Music To Watch Girls By by Andy Williams...

  • 'bout time someone showed what these things sound like with gain, kudos GW

I've always wondered what one of these things would sound like paired with a metal muff too, you know, with just the sub octave + dry, mmmmm

  • The POG is a rediculously awesome pedal. It's too bad this guy is so flaming because he's an awesome player.

  • hahah, amen!

  • Makes an accordion sound like a pipe organ.

    Just putting it out there.

  • LOL

  • sounds like something johnny marr would use
