This is so majestic, so utterly magnificent! It is better if you know Russian, but it is not indispensable, because to song speaks to the heart. Any person who has lived through times of war and loss and mourning, quite simply KNOWS. And the theme of the soldier who has married death, recurs in many cultures...
Thank you. I have corrected it, although as I write, my corrections do not yet show in the description panel. If the correction doesn't show in a day or two, please message me and I'll check it again.
the first line of the last verse has been translated incorrectly. "Калена" in this case doesn't mean knee (note the accent is on the final syllable not the first as would be the case if it was knee). It refers to metal that has been heated to glowing or tempered by so doing ("раскалённая" in modern Russian). The line should read imo:
Thanks antonc81. Thanks for the info. I have corrected the line in the description (right) but as I write, it hasn't yet updated (may be a delay on the servers). If it still hasn't updated in a couple of days, please message me and I'll try and correct it again.
my english is not good, but i will try to translate: black raven, why do you float above my head? you wont get your prey black raven i'm not yours why do you spread your claws above my head? or are you crazy about the prey black raven i'm not yours fly to my direction tell my mother (you) tell (my) lovely (mother) that i fell for the homeland
Sorry I have tried to find a translation but cannot. I have tried to use Google translate, but it is insufficient. But thank you for your kind comment; I agree, it is a masterpiece.
Thanks!

They sing
Чёрный ворон, что ты вьёшся,
Что ты вьёшся надо мной?
Ты добычи не добьешься.
Чёрный ворон, я не твой.
Not
Черный ворон, что ты вьешься,
Над моею головой?
Ты добычи не дождешься,
Черный ворон, я не твой!

the second half:
take this bloody handkerchief
to my beloved one
tell her - she is free
i married someone else
the knee is graced by an arrow
in the fatal battle
i see my death coming
black raven i'm all yours.
it's a very nice and sad song

The Ensemble could easily be singing
this soul searing folk melody in an
Orthodox Church so reverent and
profound is their performance! Eisen
and Abramov's stunningly resonant
voices embody the Russian spirit
in every breath, word, phrase and
measure! Thank you for posting and
sharing this deeply moving and mystical
performance!
