  • Thank you so much for uploading these. It was my favorite show as a kid. I used to stay up late to watch it. So much fun seeing it again.

  • Should have hit the night stalker with the lamp shaped like a woman's leg.

  • Happy 40th anniversary, Kolchak!

  • thanks ! this show was one my favs !!!!

  • excellent. never seen this. have heard of it several times. thanks for the upload.

  • We don't want undesirable elements in Las Vegas. That line is so funny and ironic on too many levels to count.

  • Believe the story had a hole in it! When they dropped the Shaft in Kolchak in the end, They had the accomplishment of all participators. The Blue Shield! But not the woman laying on the bed giving blood! What happened to that eye witness??

  • @jor99912 she was killed and made it look a accident most likely. he said some were run out of town, killed or vanished.

  • I felt sorry for Carl Kolchak for losing the true love of his life. If only the writers would have brought her back for a guest appearence it would be a happy reunion just like Indiana Jones 4 with Indy and Marion together again.

  • Janos Skorzeny, the most believable supernatural cinematic vampire in modern history, brought to you courtesy of Dan Curtis in a made for television movie which aired on ABC on January 11, 1972 (Hmm.That was on my mom's 42nd birthday. Spooky!) We also loved the Dark Shadows tv series by Curtis which aired 1966 to 1971, just before this outing. Now that Halloween is approaching, I sought this lurid tale, thoroughly enjoyed tripping back into the seventies with all those great actors. Thanks.

  • Would've been a lot campier if Barry Goldwater had played the vampire!

  • I love Kolchak's reaction at 3:36 after he listens to the summation of what happened, he simply laughs and walks away.

  • we ll take care of ur back rent

  • We don't want undesirable elements in Las Vegas? They'd have to close the city down to get rid of all of them lol.

  • Very realistic ending. As Wilde would say, " No good deed goes unpunished".

Where the real enemy of Kolchak is not vampirism but officialdom.

That is what probably for me anyway makes the end very chilling. To quote R.R MCCammon. " They stalked the land of nightmarish dreams; rationality was their shield of invisibility." Instead of being hailed as a hero, Kolchak is pilloried as a villain. But then what can the authorities do; Vampires are bad for business.

    But in LV-theme park.

  • Written by the GREAT Richard Matheson. And an excellent job by all involved, especially Darren McGavin. I remember when this came out it shook up a lot of people, some actually thought it was based on a true story.

  • One of my favorite shows when it aired. THX for the post.

  • Politics at the end of the movie!! Good twist!!!

  • what the hell is wrong with these jackass cops? what about the girl tied down being drained of blood, what about everything...geeeez what a bunch of schmucks...not suprising thoough from cops...id say about 90 percent of them become cops to gain power over their fellow man...bullies is what they are...its not suprising such men are lured to positions of power

  • @longfootbuddy As Mr. Rogers might say; "Can you say Cover-up?"

  • Great movie! It was terrible what the Sheriff and DA did to Kolchak. IMO they were lower than the vampire himself.

  • @jewel1260 We may think this movie was a little scary. But not because of the vampire, it was because of the attitudes of the law enforcement officials. Now that's really scary!!!!

  • Ohh, poor guy, he lost his lady friend. :(

Thank you for uploading! Now I need to watch the rest of the Night Stalker series. :)

  • But he stayed alone cause he did the series afterwards...tks for uploading, love Kolchak...

  • @arthurrocha I'm glad you enjoyed the movie!

  • @arthurrocha They should of had Carol Lynley appear maybe in the final episode of the Night Stalker tv series. And give some closer too the characters finding each other again, ect.

  • That was fun! Miss Foster knew he was going to the "Big Apple," I guess she didn't want to marry him after all! Jilted! Kolchak sure has a sexy voice.

  • @1PartAngel Actress Carol Lynley, who expertly portrayed Miss Foster, often was cast as a somewhat unstable girl. I always believed that the Las Vegas authorities had shaken her already jaded character over the edge so as to make sure that she and Carl would never be allowed to reassemble the true facts of the actual events. She threatened their closed society by not only knowing all the story, but as a strengthening factor to Kolchak's ability to attempt to get his story published. Evil indeed.

  • The truth is suppressed, he loses his love...God, it's the first draft of "Grave Peril"!

  • thanks naysgrace. good quality, brings back memories.

  • @tubeusr1

Night Stalker is pure classic!! I am glad you liked it!

  • Fantastic movie and brings back memories :-)That was low down what they did to him sending his girl away....I would have made them all pay in some kind of way before i left town for doing that!!!!!!!!!Thanks for uploading.....excellent movie :-)

  • @kyteddy1

I am glad you enjoyed it!!

  • Of course the ending was to be expected. Could the police actually come out and admit that vampires exist? Could they actually come out and say that evil is real? No. Btw Atwater was also on Star Trek TOS. He played Surak the founder of Vulcan philosophy.

  • Thank you very much for uploading this.

First time I've seen it since it was broadcast.

And it's just as good now as it was then.

  • @Krocotto

I am glad you enjoyed the movie!

  • "She's an undesireable element".

Is Gail Foster supposed to be a hooker?

She "works" nights in the gambling section of a hotel,

but I don't think her job is ever specified.

  • Boy, that DA and Sherrif don't fool around.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

  • @wheelinthesky300

I always thought Bernie Jenks came off like a woosie, right there at the end, when he could have used his Federal clout to help Kolchak.

Some FBI agent he is,cowed by a bunch of local cowboys.

Just exactly WHY couldnt he help, because he also was implicated in Skorzeny's destruction? I thought Federal jurisdiction trumped local in terms of fugitives from a warrant, which Skorzeny was,an international fugitive?

Both Kolchak and Jenks should have been free on this.

  • @PrinceAntonVoytek Bernie is a wus, but I think the Feds gagged him.

  • @PrinceAntonVoytek Yea i agree their very hostile on him. Heh cops/police back then. Tsk tsk tsk

  • @PrinceAntonVoytek I'm wondering if maybe its a situation like the Blade films. Maybe vampires or some other supernatural creatures have influence over law enforcement and/or the government and don't want the truth to get out. Just a thought.

  • @Calriec I believe that's exactly where this series was going. Watch the episode "The Devil's Platform"... Too bad Kolchak never continued into a second season. But these allusions provided ample inspiration for Chris Carter to take the ball and run with it on X-Files.

  • @wheelinthesky300

yeah, but the looks on their faces tell me theyre protecting a lot more than just their jobs or reputations. They look too serene and/or self-assured.

Something reeks of supernatural corruption with Butcher,Paine, and Masterson.

  • Also in the legends, If Skorzeny's stake had been removed. Skorzeny could of came back too life and placed a cadaver in his place when he was supposedly creamated. Too bad, I would of loved a sequel with Atwater, and McGavin returning too Vegas too confront him again. Nice too dream what could of been.

  • Funny thing about this movie is that even if it was true story it would not be the weirdest thing that ever happened in Vegas. LOL

  • @bigcomcast

    Yea a' la Hangover!

  • Great series from back in the day. If you like this episode, check out the movie, "The Night Flyer". It was based on a Stephen King story.

  • @wamcalif5

Yes "The Night Flyer" is a definitely a cult classic!

  • What a great TV movie. Outstanding cast all around. I especially like the way they used to do the end credits. They stayed on the screen long enough for you to read them.

  • brilliant - well done Naysaygrace

  • they should have wrote her into the sequeal.

  • @smithdsmit it seems like he never saw her again. seems like he loved her, too.

  • After all he accomplished it's hard to watch Kolchack treated with contempt like that. Bet he was more than happy to leave town like they ordered.

Even tho his body was cremated I can't help wishing that the vampire Janos Skorzeny coud've come back from the ashes one final time for the sole purpose of ripping out the throats of these two jerks played by Kent Smith and Claude Akins. Especially Akins. What a bully.

  • Great, enjoyed it

  • Las Vegas sure has changed. I think I liked it better back then with just the desert. I enjoyed watching the Night Stalker.

  • as i got older i liked the plot more than the action scenes

  • Great ending. I enjoyed that, thanks for the upload.

  • thanx naysgrace...oooh this brought back memories...god great pilot...next to KNIGHT RIDER pilot and the INCREDIBLE HULK..

  • You "love up skirts"? So do I! ...Never mind that though. To the rest of you, I was thinking the same thing. The Monsters Are Due On Maple St. Barry Atwater and Claude Akins both starred on that same episode. When I was a kid, this scared the HELL out of me ( The Night Stalker that is). That pilot episode was the best that there was! The rest were somewhat Cheezy, but never-the-less, i still watch them when I can. It was tricky trying to find this episode in it's entirety on here. Thnx Naysgrace

  • loved watching this thanks naysaygrace.

  • Claude Atkins always plays an asshole!!!

  • Barry Atwater--the vampire--was also on Twilight Zone

  • Akins...I mean

  • Claude Atkins--another frequent actor from the Twilight Zone, where writer Richard Matheson who did this teleplay wrote.
