  • Hello M'am... I was home alone and was starving ... I saw ur video and experimented with the leftover rice I had in house. They turned out superb.... It was a great dish ....thanks a lot for sharing ur skill :)

  • nice one, great recipe.

  • This is so filling and flavorful but it's also bright and well balanced. Perfect for summer! I used 3/4 Basmati and 1/4 sweet brown rice and fresh curry leaves but I left out the nuts because I'm allergic to them. I'm fortunate enough to have a wonderful East Indian grocery store a few blocks from home.

I have wanted to do more Indian cooking, thank you for showing me how, Manjula :)

  • cook without nuts

  • Why are you so good? Thank you - you make us WANT to cook as well.

  • thanks aunty...looks like a really good dish! I had a question though...does the chana dal become tender with just frying for such a short while?... because u say its just presoaked and not prebolied!

  • Hi, I also want to know how the chana dal becomes edible. Can anyone help with this? I made lemon rice once before but cooked the chana dal first because I thought there was a mistake on the recipe. Now I see here that it IS just supposed to be fried... confused now :)

  • looks really good. Is the rice really spicy with the chilies etc...?

  • That looks really great, yummy.

  • which type of rice grain you use for this recipe? is it Basmati?

  • Yes I am using basmati rice

  • it is very easy and tasty.

  • it looks amazing!

i cant wait to try it!

  • Please can you tell if Dal Chana is boiled beforehand? It seems a very nice & refreshing recipe.

  • chana dal is not boiled but it is soaked for half an hour.

  • thank you auntie..........

  • I love all the dishes you have been making; thanks for sharing with us! I noticed you put a lot of salt to all of your dishes (except the sweets), for healthier diets, when I use your recipe, I always reduce ½ of the amount of salt (and oil), from the recipe and they still taste very good.

  • why not just use uniodised rock salt?

  • She does say in most of the recipes that the salt is "to taste." So we don't have to use the amount of salt that she does if we don't want to.

  • hiii manjula aunty, i luv all ur dishes, tey r jst awesome n so easy :) ...earlier i used to hate cookn,,,bt u really inpsired me..... tanx alot :)
