Hello M'am... I was home alone and was starving ... I saw ur video and experimented with the leftover rice I had in house. They turned out superb.... It was a great dish ....thanks a lot for sharing ur skill :)
This is so filling and flavorful but it's also bright and well balanced. Perfect for summer! I used 3/4 Basmati and 1/4 sweet brown rice and fresh curry leaves but I left out the nuts because I'm allergic to them. I'm fortunate enough to have a wonderful East Indian grocery store a few blocks from home.
I have wanted to do more Indian cooking, thank you for showing me how, Manjula :)
thanks aunty...looks like a really good dish! I had a question though...does the chana dal become tender with just frying for such a short while?... because u say its just presoaked and not prebolied!
Hi, I also want to know how the chana dal becomes edible. Can anyone help with this? I made lemon rice once before but cooked the chana dal first because I thought there was a mistake on the recipe. Now I see here that it IS just supposed to be fried... confused now :)
I love all the dishes you have been making; thanks for sharing with us! I noticed you put a lot of salt to all of your dishes (except the sweets), for healthier diets, when I use your recipe, I always reduce ½ of the amount of salt (and oil), from the recipe and they still taste very good.
yummy - thank you, Manjula - I always look forward to your new videos. You're looking very happy and healthy in this video and I LOVE your kurta (correct word?).
you can if you want...whenever my mom made it the chili peppers were too hot so I wouldn't eat them...my dad would eat all of them because he eats extra extra hot stuff
This recipe looks so easy and tasty. I can't wait to try it. Thank you, Manjula for all your efforts. I really enjoy your videos and your recipes are always delicious.
I just tried this today and it was fabulous. Thank you so much Manjula, your videos are great, and I can't wait to try the next one.
I used dried curry leaves, and it seemed fine.

why not just use uniodised rock salt?
5pecular 2 years ago
She does say in most of the recipes that the salt is "to taste." So we don't have to use the amount of salt that she does if we don't want to.
