  • this ruined my life :(

  • wow.. I really liked this!!! haha And I don't know what it is but your accents (I'm American soo) just seemed to fit perfectly with the story!!! haha I really, really enjoyed this! Great job!

  • Duck hunt!! Woohoo!!

  • the guy's cute :P

  • I really liked it!!!

there's something about this adaptation that makes me like it.

    i felt fuzzy after watching it..lol =P

  • Really well done! Good adaptation of location.

  • It's not supposed to be exactly alike.

    It's an adaptation.

And for anyone saying they're tired of mediocrity being applauded, at least these people are actually doing something that interests them, while you sit safely tapping away at your computer.

You're not even posting constructive criticism, but simply saying "it sucks and that's it." makes you pathetic.

    Ignorance at its finest.

Good work, I like the vids. =)

  • I buzz on Murakami, especially this short story. I think you've done it justice, nice one. Looking forward to a version of The Elephant Vnishes :)

  • Vanishes before the grammar Nazis jump in.

  • I like it.

  • i just read this story for school... I love he story its sooo alksjdklasjd

  • love this. Just as charming in a Scottish setting as it was in a Japanese setting!

  • very welll done vid of the story and a good job for student's work

  • Very well done, told my english professor about this so next time she teaches this material she will show it in class. great job

  • thanks. i'd appreciate any feedback.

  • Hey, san. Sorry, I was meaning feedback from SirStopherson. No harm done.

  • I'm really sick of these poor adaptations of murakami's stories.

  • and i am getting sick of people praising mediocrity! worse Murakami's adaptations of great stories suffer greatly so these are just poor adaptations of Kawabatas stories twice removed.

  • not that catching the original story.

  • hi. I was just wondering if you had to go throught obtaining the rights to the work in order to make this? just curious...

  • Very nice work. The compositions are outstanding.

  • very cool work! Amazing visual compositions and very well-worked screenplay

  • This is a pooorly re-worked rip-off of the Great Yasunari Kawabata Story, The Bell Crickets. Kawabatas is deeper and richer with imagery and forlorn unrequited love. REad the 2 together for a real assessment of murakami.

  • check out my adaptation of the story

  • It captures a lot of the melancholy of the story.

Really fantastically done. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

  • top class guys. go ahead, put the effort in and make something better than this then EinerVonDenen...

  • Not exactly perfect. Sometimes lame (especially at the very end when the lady smile at the camera unintentionally) but a great try...it's hard to visualize Murakami's work.

  • Shame on you. What a poor adaption. My gosh. Read something, you better understand, guys...

  • Really smartly done. Mirrored the contemplative vibe of Murakami nicely. It's made even more surriel by seeing what is usually imagined Japanese in a Scottish setting, with Scottish accents. Praise Praise Praise lol

  • Beautiful piece of work. De voice(-over) worked really well. I loved it and willl watch it again and again and again.

  • Wow, this is awaesome! Particularly as this is my favourite Murakami short story and I'm from Scotland! You guys encapsulated the story brilliantly, with beautiful understatement and the same mournful longing that i felt when I read it.

By the way, is the scene on the roundabout between the shore and the Brunton? If so my mate used to live in the bungalo in the background!

  • nice one. This is my favorite short story by Murakami. I really enjoyed it.

  • Hey, for some reason i can't view this clip... which is a shame cause i really want to watch it :(

  • Dont worry, it works now :)

  • Pretty interesting, how it's set in Scotland and everything. Must be pretty tricky to do film adaptions of Murakami, so nice job!

  • This video has moved me very, very much. I'm a big Murakami fan, and you guys nailed it.

  • one of my favorites.. GREAT adaptation...

  • Übercool!

  • Brilliant! Loved it! Great to see Murakami's spirit alive and well on the streets of a small Scottish town too!

  • the acting was questionable, but i guess it wasnt a bad considering the low budget and at least they attempted to take on Haruki Murakami. So props.

  • nice! Im JAPANESE "Harukichi"=Haruki-crazy.and I really love this film!sooo goooood!

  • i liked it a lot

  • love it dude, interesting take on his story and set in scotland is genius

  • That was really good. :)
