This is why it took so long for PCs to get into the home market in a mass way because of all the stupid suits. Drop the suits, relax, come in jeans, make it look like it's a fun thing for the home and not just for men in suits, no one is going to berate you for it.
@joeypesci well it was serious business back then and still is, they just wanted to show how professional and new this technology was. Now day's they just put some slut on the TV and some Acid trip looking commercial lol
Should have gone like this, 1... "what" 1... "speak consistently stwart, by the way nice hair" Mother fucker I said 1!! "I will not do 1" fine 2 "fuck you human" What!! "Lick my tray first" No im in control "thats what your mother said last night" Fuck you laserdic bitch ill fuck you right up! "My CPU is a neural net processor, you will all die" Hey great work guys thanks for coming out!
"So what Mr. Spock, are you becoming an airline pilot or what?"
"Hahaha, fuck you Ron Burgundy"
I'd like to see a modern version of the "Agoraphobic Lorna" game. And it would be nice if they included the deformed elf on the smoking bed as a nod to the original. "Learn from your dreams" indeed.
Also, press 4 repeatedly in the rhythm of your choice to see some vintage Vulcan beatboxing.
i wonder what it feels like being totally wrong, if only she had a time machine, my mate had a laser disc way b4 dvd, the picture quality was brilliant, too expensive though, i still see laser discs about from time to time
@DarkShadowRage2 You must have gone to a rich school... I was born in 1988 & they always used VHS. Graduated in 2006 & I think there was 1 DVD player in the whole school & the teachers had to sign it out if they wanted to use it. The VHS tapes were all worn out by then too; they rolled like crazy. X)
someone could create this idea ,DSDvideo laser disc , record it blu-ray laser, or it the new technology Holographic Versatile Disc "HVD" , Direct Stream Digital Video, uncompress video and audio , original master
@sylos1 Laser discs were about the size of records (kind of thick too) and predacessors of DVDs basically. We had one in school in the early 90's as a young boy. I was fascinated with it and I remember seeing them in Sun TV department store with movies and encyclopedias. We didn't have a computer at home (too expensive) so this was great to play with at school!
Wow, Gary Kildall, he's the guy who wrote CPM, from which os/2 (i think) was basically copied! That guy is basically responsible for microsofts success!
Those who disrespect laser disc need to know with then, there would be no now. What you dont want to advance technologically, c'mon guys show some respect.
This had such great potential...which was later realized by CD-ROM and DVD later on. A great start for interactive optical disc technology. Didn't Dragon's Lair and Space Ace predate this by 2 years (in 1983) though?
Ah, I loved the sound when the laster is moving to the corresponding track on the media at 5:16 around :) Never knew about something like LaserDisks, but this is realy cool!
@EgolandTed Currently, you can speak names and words in your CELL PHONE and it will recognize and pull up the right entry/search term, and all without voice training. I would say thats a pretty good advance. The hardware in this video that does that is the size of a VCR!
The voice sounds like the Braille 'n' Speak portable computer for the blind. I'm very surprised the system isn't picking up and trying to process the background speech while the presenters are talking. Background speech would cause all sorts of problems with speech recognition.
A few years later in 1989, Pioneer teamed up with SEGA to build a LD based Mega Drive system, in 1990, it was changed to a Laser Disc add on for MD. The project was scrapped later that year in favor of MEGA CD.
Wow the 80's was just full of bad fledgling tech. Even the hosts from then knew that while impressive for the time this thing was no HAL. Seems that back then the tech was so weak that it mostly took imagination to make it seem cooler.

at 7 am and i was thrilled with it because i bought tones of
laserdiscs to play them on my pioneer cld d515 player and it
was great so i watched the xfiles on it and i loved watching the
classic scifi show as originaly attended and it plays scratched
or fingure print marked discs without jumping so i love my laserdisc
it's the best in the world.
