Cool story this actually a whole different game its an arcade game called dynamite deka with the die hard license thrown on it. Therese a sequel called dynamite cop on Dreamcast
I think the controls are very easy, you just have to learn the 50+ moves and combos that are in the game. Its like virtua fighter meets streets of rage.
THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!! I remember playing this game. Even though its fun...but then realized we played it for half hour...where we finish the game...
easily one of thebest beat em ups. always thought the controls were fine and it was fun to do sweet grapple moves. if you look online there are quite a few arcade machines for this game out there for sale.
I'd totally forgotten that I'd ever played this, until the part with the completely random Fire engine, and then I was like "Oh shit! I remember playing that!"
Its not a granade launcher you find in the bathroom its an anti tank rifle numb nuts, and if you've played Virtua fighter enough, Both characters play just like Wolf from the VF series. I can literally beat the entire game without even die. You just suck at playing the game.
aint nothing like running down the hallway and straight DUFFING someone out lol & keep it moving, only looking backwards to make sure they are TKO'd lol.
sega released this game on the ps2 with some updated graphics in the name of dynamite dyko or some thing back in 2006 i think the ps2 is a port of the arcade version ( that is if there's an arcade version though) but still the ps2 version have a mode called sega saturn mode where you play the saturn version of the game with the same sega saturn graphics.
For anyone looking to play the sequel, It's called Dynamite Cop (dreamcast). It's just as good as this if not better. Sega couldn't call it Die Hard Arcade 2 because they lost the rights to the license by that point.
I had this on Saturn. I fucking loved this game as a kid, but I was irresponsible and didn't care care of the disc or my Saturn and now their all ruined. I found this game hard, especially at the part where fire truck would hit and kill me..
@CyberSpectrumND if you have your saturn games still you could always taken them a business that resurfaces cd's, and most of them time they'll look brand new...
You said that you can get this for very cheap but i looked on ebay and the cheapest copy i can find is 25 bucks. :( is there any place that sells them for next to nothing or should i just buy Dynamite Cop for Dreamcast instead? xD
The controls suck? of course they do, genius, it's supposed to be played with a friggin' ARCADE STICK. Also, don't blame the game if you suck.
The bizarre things that weren't in the movie are due to the fact that: 1- This is actually a porting of the japanese Dynamite Deka with Die Hard license slapped onto it. 2- DD was actually a pretty over-the-top, not-so-serious game.
In fact, the only complain i have with the game is that it is short as hell.
@Shendue Actually because I had this game and the arcade stick controller, the controls still sucked with that. It's just a design flaw of the game that the characters move Virtua Fighter style when there's so much need for freedom of movement and quick reaction.
this guy don't know shit this is a awesome game and I'm even playing it right now and it still feels as good, oh yes I've got the old Saturn out and I'm having more fun that on my xbox 360 or ps3
I loved the Dreamcast sequel to this, so I'll try this one, too. I just love the (unintentional?) humour. Ever killed someone by throwing cake at him, or released a nuclear weapon in a dining room? ^^
The guy reviewing this game never got to experience this game in the arcades. The game was an awesome in the arcades. Great Co-op arcade fun & the quick time scenes were epic
THis game was so kik ass. I use to play this in the arcade. It took all my quarters until I ran out. I eventually beat it when I got it 4 the saturn, because of the mini game that got you all the continues
This was a short, but very nice game! I loved the interactivity, the controls (sluggy, perhaps, but still very playable and nice; especially with two players) and the environments!
this game is the best beat em up on sega saturn and it still fun to play. good times and i thing this one have some things of double dragon for example you can pick weapons just like double dragon , the final chapter when you are playing co op you must fight with your friend when you defeat the last boss so this game is just like double dragon but a little bit diferent anyway thanks of the review
you fail to mention the submarine game that let you earn credits... also I was addicted to this game for quite some time, was so proud when I got to the endboss with only 2 lives.. ah good times
Shame you didn't state that the game was not based off the movies seeing as when it was in Japan it was a totally different name. When they brought it to America, they changed the name to cash in on the Die Hard name.
i have gotta disagree, this game is amazing even on the Saturn's some what odd controls. Mr. Reviewer, if it's mainly the controls that bother u, try with the Saturn arcade stick. I originally got hooked on this game in the arcades and don't remember so much of a problem with the controls so maybe you'll realize how great it is then.
Nothing says LOVE like a GRENADE LAUNCHER in a BATHROOM!!!
I loved this in multiple movie theatres... You have to play it very timely and go w/ the AI delays or you get your ass handed to you as John Mclane did not... LOL
Also it is a 90% port of a japanese dynamite cop game and it runs like complete SHIT on an emulator so I should have tons of fun w/ it once I get an AR for my JAPAN model Saturn... Mark is AWESOME!!!
My understanding is that the original Die Hard Arcade is Dynamite Cop and the second one released as Dynamite Cop here in America is actually Dynamite Cop 2. I actually purchased Dynamite Cop 2 for Dreamcast thinking it was sequel. Only to find they are the same game, I agree but none the less this game is a classic. This game was bad to the BONE back in the day. Took so many of my quarters as a kid. This game was actually called "Dynamite Cop" in Japan but when they released it here in America they decided to give it more marquee value and call it Die Hard Arcade and make the main guy look like Bruce Willis. Sweet game. Never got past the Fire Truck in the Parking Deck though.
i always thought dynamite cop and die hard arcade were two different game stories the levels are different i know that much and yeah on die hard arcade i never got past just after going down the elevator
I was slightly wrong. Dynamite Deka was altered slighty, namely the building and the main character being changed to John McClane. Dynamite Deka 2 was later released internationally as Dynamite Cop.
the fighting could be really fun if you knew the combos and this reviewer clearly didnt, there was this move that i remember where you held the guy from the ankle and spin around then throw him to other enemies and a couple of other cool combos i played this with my friends alot.
I hope you all know this game is just some Japanese game reskinned. It has nothing to do with Die Hard. Do you remember the long white haired guy with a beard in Die Hard?
I actually had a lot of fun on this game on the SEGA Saturn at the time! Sure, ok, it was really short, but it was fun all the way, and not actually that bad for 30 frames per second! :-)

I actually had a lot of fun on this game on the SEGA Saturn at the time! Sure, ok, it was really short, but it was fun all the way, and not actually that bad for 30 frames per second! :-)

Hilarious review as always. I am, however, one of the beat 'em up fans you mention and I do love the game :)

Dynamite Cop for the dreamcast is this exact same game, seriously, look it up!
All they did was change the skins...

frickfrock999: Dynamite Cop was actually the sequel to this game. Although they do look exactly the same.
