I'm not offering an opinion on whether the church is true or false, I'm a member myself. I'm just suggesting that you broaden your thinking a bit. The attitude you present here is ignorant and naive, it dissuades people from religion because it convinces them that religion only nullifies the mind.
Yeah, I'm not Mormon and I do not believe that they are of the True faith. However, our God is a just and merciful God and there's no reason why he'd refuse any of his children. In fact, "That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." (Matt 25:45, KJV)
So of course he would cause miracles, but for his own glory and not to the glory of mere man.
Ha, I love old church videos... Those who say our religion is untrue... What about the miracles? What about the modern revelations we receive? I can bear my testimony that this church is true if not by reading the scripture we so oftenly result to by what I have seen, and what I have felt. I cannot deny the miracles in my life. Neither can anyone else.
the creater of South Park makes fun of every thing They do not care ,true ,false ,or whatever content was not supposed to be correct and probly more of a hate thing and( maybe opp. to imput thoughts into viewers heads anyway*cough, nazi's,cough* T.V. seems to control everyones thinking anyway .
Actually, South Park's episode is decent. The account of JS's visions is supposed to be sound, just funny. Also, the depiction of today's LDS as kind, honest, and positive people is lovely to see. The guys did a good job on that one.
religion is fine it makes people friendly and teaches them good lessons for leading a life through metaphorical stories. i personaly dont believe in any organized religion but that doesnt mean im one of those ignorant athiest who bas religions because i think there great for people who believe but when a person claims to be talking to a god of any sort directly it is dangerous to mankind history has tought us this many times.
Well, it looks like that's where we differ. I don't think that any lie, no matter how the intention is, is OK. You think that religion is OK as long as it helps people. I think religion, as a lie, even if in short term it makes people better, is WRONG. There is NO EXCUSE for lying to people. NEVER.
I think it's more like misunderstanding the religion than calling it a lie. True there is no excuse to lie, but the LDS church is no lie, I can tell you that. But if "Mormonism" was a lie, I would've been dead years ago. I recovered from the harshest conditions, even when the doctors said I would never recover from those conditions. If you want to call a religion a lie, do your research first. And believe me, South Park won't get you very far.
You are actually in the majority of agnostics/atheists. Most free thinkers I talk to (my brother-in-law being one) are really nice people who want to live a good life. The few and most voiceterious atheists are what you see on the news or scattered across YouTube have a personal bone to pick.
Joseph Smith made up the Mormon religion for profit. He is no prophet, but a liar. It's the Scientology of the 18th century. I think Mormons are nice people for the most part and I'm glad they believe in Jesus, but they are mislead.
I love this story! and Im sorry for that people that don´t believe the wonders of God, because in another time, they have chosen to be here and follow His example.
Have you ever read the Book of Mormon? I would question how much you actually know about our faith since you don't even know the name of Joseph Smith correctly.
I'm sorry to tell you, but you're not speaking about any factual event that ever occurred. I don't want to argue either, but let's set the record straight. If you think this really occurred, give a date, specific place, some context, etc.
Seeing as you didn't correctly know the name of "Joseph Smith", and admitted that you know very little about religion, I think you are once again simply confused.
In my opinion every religion is bad. It makes people believe what they are doing is "the will of the lord", no matter what it is. But Mormonism - please, do you really believe all that crap? Promised American land? Ancient American civilizations? There is NO evidence at all for that. If I tell you there exists a flying spaghetti monster, who created the universe after a night of drinking, would you believe that?

As anyone could agree, context is everything. South Park did not do a very honest job of giving context to the Joseph Smith account.

Never?????? So if a murderer breaks into your house and catches you first and asks, "Where are your children hiding?"
Would a lie be justified?

I always thought that Smith lived in 19th century :P
Anyway, watch the South Park episode "All about the Mormons?". It just explains everything :)

I think that's a fantastic idea. Trust in South Park for your information.
See how far that gets you in life. :)

i dont know it because I try to avoid anything that has to do with that religion
nick2323232323 3 years ago
Perhaps then you should "avoid" spreading falsehoods or judging religions, if you admit to know little about them.
