  • Kareem had skills , great footwork, court vision, timing , shot accuracy, but don't think he couldn't jump high or run fast. He'd beat people down court after blocking a shot and in his prime the sky hook was released at least a foot or 2 above the rim.

  • I'm sure maybe a couple people once or twice blocked his skyshot, but can you guys imagine a 7'2'' guy fully extending his arm to fling the ball? Do you know how almost near impossible it would be for someone to block the arch of that ball? That's a ball that's easily 9 feet high in the air, which is like a normal 3 pt. shot except its almost as accurate as a lay-up.

  • @MichaelSwg 9' in the air at his release point even in his last game was higher than that. Easily the most beautiful shot ever "Sky Hook". In his prime easily released from 11 to 12" When he wheeled around and jumped and released at the top of his jump he could have shot it straight down but he had that ark on his shot so it was dropping down from 15' . No one blocked the Hook once it was out of his hands. saw it blocked 2X but it was still in his hands

  • @tellthetruthg And the beautiful part is the accuracy. "Once it was out of his hand" and he could almost aim it in.

  • But Realistically Skill And Atheletic Ability Have Drastically Increased Over Time...Im Sorry But Put A Lebron, Dirk, Or Kobe Back in Those Times And It Would Be Unfair..Put A Prime Kareem In 2011 And Dwight Howard Would Have Him Pinned Under The Rim Under The Rim Evry Play..Any Player In The Nba Now Would Be An Allstar In These Times..But Seriouslyy Would A Bob Mcadoo Or Elgin Baylor Be An Allstar 2day?? Negative

  • her needs to be more highlights of him!!!!!!!

  • awesome footage. hated the lakers but loved kareem. he was socially aware, intelligent, and active...

and that base line hook was the greatest shot in the game.

  • Had Kareem had a personality he would've been bigger than what he was back then. He was had an aloof standoffish personality. I still remembered when Kareem his a game winning shot and he looked at Magic crazy for celebrating..

  • I have to agree....i just dont respect the players of old as much because they were playing against less talented people, were slower, and didn't jump as high as the game now days.

  • @djdandude322

NO! These types of players played when basketball was a game of skill, not of how high some guy can jump. And less talented people? Who in this league do you consider talented? Lebron? Put Lebron James up against Elgin Baylor or Bob McAdoo and he would get his ass handed to him. I can name 50 players who would take apart the players in the modern league. And don't say "players of old." You sound like an idiot.

  • @elfey2 agreed !

  • @elfey2 agreed all the way

  • @elfey2

    I concur 100%!

  • @elfey2 one of the dumbest comment i have ever seen. congratulations

  • What a goof. This guy wouldn't make the d-league today.

  • @sean1256 NEVER underestimate the heart of a warrior (:

plus his hook shot is unguardable, if he came back next season i would say he could be MVP

  • @sean1256 Are you kidding?

  • @iversonandmuhamidali I personally think he's number 1, so yeah i do ;)

  • un-guardable...

  • Anybody who thinks Jordan is the greatest of all time, does'nt know about this man right here.

  • @lennart180 Wow. You have got to be kidding me. This guy would get broken in half in today's league.

  • eligance

  • 0:38 is just pure greatness...

  • if he skyhooked 3 pointers that'd be epic LOL.

  • That skyhook is scary shit.

  • What the heck is Roger Murdock doing playing basketball?

    Who's flying the plane!?

  • @rm06c Walton, Lanier and Joey's Dad!

  • my favorite NBA player of all time

  • @danrodrigu Mine too. Long live the Lakers!

  • Greatest scoring center of all time.

    Awesome to watch.

  • The game looks so easy to him. It looks like he has the ability to average like 40 points per game ONLY relying on the hook shot. I guess thats why hes the leader in career points.

  • o jea........da song iz definitly bangin......

    roots crew all day

  • dat hookshot givs me chills........and y cant more big men master this unstoppable shot

  • he the man !! o

  • sky hook owns

  • the greatest scorer in nba history and number two in all time blocks. He does it on offence and defence

  • the hook is so beautiful

  • I think Michael is or Larry Legend our the best but Kareem can definently heat up a game.

  • BEWARE THE SKY-HOOK!!

  • kareem abdul-jabbar is the best basketballplayer of all time. that skyhook.... so awesome...

great video, I lOVE the song

  • nba street stretch i think that copy of kareem abdull jabar

  • Although Michael Jordan is the best player of all time, the greatest player of all time is undoubtedly Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Mike was the best in the sport, after all, 6 titles in every trip to the finals is excellence. But it was Kareem who was the real legend, a phenomenon who created and patented the game's unstoppable offensive weapon. I had the privilege of watching Kareem play during his Milwaukee and Laker days, so I know the difference.

  • sky hook

    awesome move!

  • "what they do" - the Roots. one of the greatest jus like kareem!

  • how u gonna have magic and jabbar on da same team dats not even fair

  • kareem+magic+worthy+cooper+rambis+green+scott+thompson etc. good luck beating that team.

  • bruce lee trained him?

  • I was that Wilt actually beat up Kareem. Not sure if it is true, because Kareem elbowed Wilt's teammates and Wilt went after Kareem.

  • wats the name of the song LakerDogg10?

  • WoW you guys are f*ckin nuts fightin with each other and trashtalkin millionaire legends, stop fighting over the internet e-thugs. kareem and magic are both legends, so is bird and jordan. wanna fight about it?

  • Kareem's mind was good enough to not get aids.

  • Kareem went to the finals with 2 of the best point guards ever to play and couldn't make it without, Magic went to the finals (and lost) without him. Magic went 8 of his first 11 years. Magic was one of the most talented minds to ever play the game.

  • Dude Bruce Lee trained Kareem. Therefore Kareem > Magic, Magic just got aids and had alot of sex. Kareem is a real man.

  • Fricken aye Kareem Alley Ooop!! The Classic Lakers.

  • nice hook shots

  • He is better then u kappybarra

  • This is so cool, plus the song in the background rocks. Like The Roots music, too.

  • DIS GUY SUCKS JORDAN RULES

  • how the fuk can u say dat, that hookshot is unstoppable. top scorer nba, ripped shit up with laker

u dont no shit about b-ball. by the way u cant be racist against muslims mas1994 coz muslims arent a race, its a religion, just like christians

  • look, Kareem was the greatest player of ALL TIME, him and Jordan. He was the most points of All-time, won 6 championships, and w/ UCLA! if u dont like the man, u are either dont know basketball or racist agasint Muslims.

  • Magic did a wee bit more then Kareem could do tho koudsi but best shot ever

  • there is no way in hell. kareem was the captain he was the heart and soul. ask anybody on those laker teams including magic, they will tell you kareem is the greatest player to ever play. Kareem dominated wilt, parish, lanier, walton, ewing, olajuwon. he played for 20 years, scored more points, got more blocks, more rebounds, and won more championships than magic.

  • The greatest basketball player to ever live

  • Hakeem > Kareem > Shaq > Wilt > Moses > Robinson

  • I agree, although screw robinson, Bill Russell, Russell is arguably better than Hakeem.

  • Agree with you.

    Russell>Kareem>Wilt>Shaq>Hakeem>Moses>Longley

Shaq has rings so he has to be up there.

  • personaly i think shaq is underrated. I swear he is one of the best passing big men i've ever seen. Although Hakeem beat him in 1995.

  • you are so right!

  • but now shaq sucks he can't get the stupid freethrows

  • The greatest scoring center & player of all time period. Numbers don't lie. That sky-hook was the greatest offensive weapon of all-time.

  • 1 and maybe da greatest b-ball legend. a tru new yorker and a tru man

  • Myrkkymara, I saw Kareem throw that sky-hook over Wilt's head all day long. I think that contributed to Wilt's retirement! No one could stop Kareem!

  • wilt chamberlain could block him, and he did.

  • Myrkkymara, get real! See comment above! Anyone 50 or over knows this! What planet are you from???

  • no one can block his famous skyhook!

  • @bballer1916 Hakeem and Wilt both blocked his skyhook numerous times. The most unstopable shot in nba history is the Dream Shake.

  • The great Abdul-Jabbar & the unstopable SKY HOOK!

  • i'm gonna meet him wed 31st jan in New York

  • Skyhook !

  • Great player even know Bruce Lee kicked his ass.

  • i love this whole thing, Abdul Jabbar ran shit back then, i remember watching him win with the Lakers...yeah, im old ; P

  • could someone tell me who the artist is in this song and the name of the song, appreciate it, thnx

  • The artist: The Roots

    The song: What they do.

And the video for the song is really cool. Poking fun at the silliness of the current (at the time) rap industry.

  • es un idolooo... es un dios kareem

    i love this game...
