would you mind telling me what you do for the smearing the green or what you use and also, how do you get the clear coat to be a perfect gloss. I know how you work up to 2000 grain but its just not quite that glass like sheen.
dude its awesome how you came up with the idea for the green scratches to show through truly awesome piece but shark does lame it abit but otherwise sexual work there! :D
Hey man dope paint job! Is the green paint you used flat as well? just curious because one of your tips at the end was to use flat paints when doing graphics
@TheBlackxism I dont think it will, as long as he didnt damage the tone producing part of the guitar it seems. Tone will prolly just be the same as it was before he started.
hey first off i love your work, simply amazing. but when you paint the sharks teeth and the flotation device sign did u just brush on the paint? if so what type of paint did you use?
i have a whole in my guitar where a knob used to be and i dont want it there anymore. i'm plannin on repainting my guitar. if i put say painters or electrical tape over it, is there a way to apply the spray paint to where the end result will be a flush smooth body? In other words i want to cover up the whole. But i dont want an in dention of a piece of tape to show up in the final form of the guitar. ? Never done it before. just curious
@NeoPanzerth dont know if you have dont it yet or not... but yea woof filler, but aplly a little bit at a time so it drys throught... if you fill the entire hole and let it sit, it will take forrrreevvvveerrr before the enter in dry
dude you must be hard up lookin if your that into fat chicks. come on man thats just a sickness , your sick dude. Fat bitch's smell like spoiled eggs and bacon. lol
I just wanted to say your videos really help smooth the process out a bit. I'm working on my first guitar. think I'm going with your tiger stripes with a black base contrasting purple. 5 stars bro.
No man you dont have to paint your guitar black.... Thats just what this finish calls for. You paint your guitar any flat color you find that you like..
Yo teddy, if i use satin paint is that ok for the lacquer?
Oh and when i removed the tape from the design, some of the glue from the tape left a rough surface on the guitar, any idea on how to get rid of that so its somewhat smooth?
Hey Bro, satin is just as bad as gloss, dont do it man.. it will still crack the lacquer in spots and give you trouble. Flat paint is the only way to get a perfect finish and a glass like shine. If you already used the satin paint than wet sand starting with 800 grit to 1000 and finish when smooth with 2000 grit after you applied the lacquer.. keep it out of the sun.. sun will also crack it.
For the glue : very carefuly use 1000 grit paper and sand it off.. it happens to me all the time.
So before i even apply the lacquer, sand the paint wet sand it with 800 or 1000 grit sand paper, then 10 coats of lacquer, and sand 2 coats of that with 2000 grit sand paper?
What about for a matte finish? If i didn't want to do the lacquer finish, what steps do i need to take for that?
No Bro if your going matt finish dont worry about sanding any of it. Just apply about 5 coats of matt then dry sand the top coat off with 2000 grit paper.... thats it for a matt finish.
Hey. I was wanting to paint my guitar. Its solid red. I was wanting to paint it black then do red pin stripes across it but the red needs to be a dark cherry red. Have any tips? Iv never painted a guitar and dont want to screw it up considering I play it everyday. I also want it to have a very high glossy look like its fresh from the manufacturer. Have any tips?
You will have to sand down your original finish , apply your red but only in a flat coats and about 5 coats for good coverage, sand off the top coat before you pinstripe, lay your pins down than hit it with the black. around 5 thin even coats, sand with 1000 grit, use a good lacquer and go no less than 10 coats wet sanding between each coat, this should take a solid 3 weeks to finish.
Hey man can you give me a 5 star rating if this was any help? Thanks man.. good luck!! Teddy Zane

Do i got to wet sand it too? or is it ok to just paint it?
mudshovel508 2 years ago
yes you should lightly sand it with 1000 grit paper as long as there are no runs or mistakes. Dont wet sand matt , just sand.
