Man this was a nastalgia trip. I remember playing this when I was about 8 or 9. I thought I had never beaten the game, but was fun watching this guy going through each level as I think "Oh yeaaahh, I remember this level!" And I actually remembered the final scene and did indeed beat it once. Though I remember it taking me COUNTLESS attempts to do so... was funny to think how I was so proud to just get through the first boss at the time.

@BologneyT No, I didn't use turbo. My hands are just really twitchy from playing the original Contra and similar games since 1989.

You know, it's also funny you mention the pause towards the end because I've been waiting since this was uploaded (unless I missed it) for someone to bring it up. The real reason I paused it is because for a split second I thought a spider or a similar insect creature had fallen down my shirt so I did a quick check and resumed. Mystery solved!

For contra you should check out Contra HQ site. There are songs of possibly all Contra versions along with remixes for download. Type "Contra HQ" in google (cannot type links on youtube -_-)

If Red Falcon's chamber at 4:53 would have been in the real Contra game as it is here, it would have made the final battle a bit more difficult and dramatic. This one looked awesome.

It's probably always on because this game is so much harder than the original. Gotta have the spread on all the time with that kind of difficulty.

Actually I can answer this. If you read the description in the first vid, I was aiming for fastest time for completion. The spread is the most efficient gun for the pseudo speedrun so I kept it for that reason. Besides, in my opinion, the only other worthy gun in Contra is the normal pea shooter with some rapids attached and a vid showcasing that would be over 20 minutes easy.
