Casey, here is the smoothie I eat / drink every morning: the juice of one each orange, lemon and lime, 1/2 fresh mango, two strips of fresh pineapple, one whole kiwi, one big hand full of baby spinach, one big kale leaf, one cup of frozen blueberries, one cup of frozen strawberries, one frozen banana, two tablespoons of flax seed, and two tablespoons of chia seeds. I have a glass and put the remainder in my Nalgene bottle in the freezer and eat from it all morning.

@nephildevil By the way, the average american diet is about 15-16% protein by calories. The diet I am suggesting is 10%, the difference being that all of this protein can be assimilated and used, where as meat proteins are denatured when heated.

@nephildevil The high-carbs are actually what our body wants. We use simple carbs for energy. The carbs that nature provides for us are in whole, fresh, ripe, raw fruits. So, while it is a very high-carb shake, it's actually perfect for what our bodies need. The shake is about 92% calories from carbohydrate, 5% from protein, 3% from fat.
@RawAndFit i know u want to bring ur glycogen back after a workout, but what was it 7 bananas!? srsly dude that is way too much, and no protein? u need to repair ur muscles. this shake will just restore ur glycogen and with the surplus of carb calories, it will build fat.
@nephildevil We actually need fat, carbs AND protein after a workout. We don't need more of anything in particular. That's why fruit, the natural carrier of those nutrients, is best post-workout. It give you everything you need, in the right ratios. :-) Check out my website to learn more about 80/10/10 raw veganism.

@nephildevil - Not so - Spinach 1 cup = 1g of Protein and 1g of Carb ( in the form of dietary fiber) only .10g of Sugar. Fruit can be if you get to much - it should always be blended (rarely juiced - a few exceptions) - It would be better to balance this with 1/4 cup of soaked raw nuts or seeds (nut milk) Almonds, cashews, walnuts, sunflower, pumpkin seeds, sesame.
Post workout- you DO NOT want any sugars for 2 hours from fruits or other sources. It stops your body from producing HGH (Human Growth Hormone - Insulin destroy's the production of HGH. This is a big deal if you are over 25 years old. As HGH production drops off like a rock off a cliff after

Are there enough carbs and protein in this drink? And if so can you break it down for me?
woodedape 1 year ago
1. you aren't eating enough. (Clementines for breakfast, the 700 cal shake, and fruit with some greens in the evening)
2. doesn't seem like ur getting enough protein to build and strengthen ur muscles
