@dynamowhum It's a metal lever but for what it's worth, the only locking lever on a sander that I have broken was a metal one on an old (the "good tool days") Craftsman belt sander. The lever on the Sharkee is plenty strong if used without a big hammer or something.
I got one...In the shop in the morning, Out in the Trash in the afternoon!
