  • great tutorial, fireworks beats photoshop in so many ways its defo worth the money - photoshop may have alot of filters but it slows everything down, you cant even select layers easily.

  • Do you think that this program is worth the money? I don't know, (American $s) this program seems pretty awesome, I'm on a Mac and in the school I go to we use Photoshop Elements a lot, but we haven't gotten to Fireworks a lot. So far Fireworks sounds like an amazing application here, I just don't know at this point.

Would i be able to design my own video player in this program?

  • can you get the full version for free or is the test version for ever???

  • @Dragonicafan Yeah, you can download 30-day trials from Adobe.com. It is a commercial product so you'll have purchase if you wish to use after 30 days.

  • @cbtcafe Or you can download an illigal cracked version...

  • Can you animate the letters. Like they are turning round in their place?

  • @palmist81 Hi - you can create an animated gif in Fireworks. Flash is probably best for that. I have a tutorial on using Fireworks for rotating text: /fireworks/3dtext/3dtext.html and here's the Flash version: flash/3dtext/3dtext.html

  • thanks, very good

  • haha this is actually such a simple thing to do but i never realised you could actually do something like that, thanks alot, i used it for my channel, cbt please come look if you have time, very nice tutorial (liked)

  • hey that ain't adobe it's good ol' macromedia lol

  • :=)

  • Great Tutorial!

    Thanks!!

  • Nice. There should be more tutorials on multiple ways to do things.

  • Agreed. There's rarely one best way to do any effect.

The more options you have in your graphics toolkit the easier it is to solve new problems.

  • who can help me logo?i wan make shuffler logo.pls help me..

  • Thank you so much, i really needed this for an assignment.

  • Glad it helped. It's a fun effect!

  • Excellent! Was looking for something like this for ages. Thank You!

  • Great tut.. Can you in the future tell us what the hot keys mean? Example you say hit CTL X.. What is CTL X. I know what the copy and paste ones are just not the CTl x.

    thanks and keep them coming

  • Hotkeys are located next to the commands in the menus.

Go up the top, and for instance click on Edit and then look down to where Cut is. To the right of Cut you will see Ctrl-X.

A lot of hotkeys are common across most other Windows applications such as Word, Excel, Flash, Photoshop etc.

(That's what we all used to use before the mouse was invented! ;))

  • that is WAY to slow and complicated for what it is.

This would take me seconds in photoshop.

  • Its only slow because he took the time to explain it.

  • Thanks this helped a lot!

  • Thank you for the great feedback!

  • nice tutorial thanx...subscribing

  • Great Tutorial.... Really helpfull

  • thank's great tutorial, but where did you get your letter pictures?

  • I just typed them out in Fireworks. You can convert to paths if you like but that's optional. Type two letters out, each in a different color, and you're set!

  • alright, yes I see, thank you

  • np. I probably should have opened with how I got those there. At several times during the movie, I click the letter and you can see the font name in the Property inspector. Thanks again for the feedback!

  • yea, after watching again I did notice that, but too late now lol, anytime

  • Very cool interclocking effect. Thanks, awesome vid.

  • Thanks a lot man!!! Pretty cool video! Just one question. Why in the second case you chose the colour to be white? If it was for example blue would there be any problem? Thanx in advance.

  • "Group as Mask" creates a Grayscale mask so it does matter. White will fully reveal, black completely hides and shades in between will be partially revealed.

You can use blue but your masked area will be transparent.

You can always change the type of mask

    1. Use a blue color fill

    2. Group as Mask

    3. click the Mask Thumbnail in the Layers panel

    4. In the Property inspector, change mask type from Grayscale to Path Outline

Fireworks has so many ways to work with masks!

  • AMAZING!!! thank you so much
