  • Dude. I totally watched this, now I can speak fluent latin.

  • Correction: 'The dog of the man' or 'The man's dog'

'The dog' would not in the genitive.

'The dog' would be either in the accusative or the nominative case and 'the man' would be in the genitive case.

  • sounds like Garret Fagan, great roman series

  • I think you made mistake, you said that the dog in 'the dog of the man' would be genitive, which isn't true. The man would be gentive e.g. canis/canem viri--> the dog of the man in which viri (man) is genitive and canis (dog) is nominative or a accusative.

  • @TheRobinator143 that is very right, I noticed it, too.

  • You're accent mesmerized me the first time I listened to this, so I had to re-watch it. lol

  • I'm taking latin for highschool. And I'm totally nervous. Any tips?

  • @fireboltjohan: Genius is spelled genius, genius. Besides, you're wrong. Homer didn't write the Illiad, he wrote the Iliad.

  • im in the US but am lucky enough to have a latin teacher from england, so i learn the declensions in the english order, which is much easier. keep up the good work crayons!

  • Latin is similar to my language, thinking of grammar.

  • French is a latin language german and english are not but french is.

  • Learned more about grammar here than in all my years of english class

  • How the hell does he sound anything but scottish???

  • Latin is so varying in the world. For reginae you say Reh-gee-ni. I say reh-zhee-nay.

    Good work.

  • I think I missed the Vocative case explination. D:

  • @CourierOfDreams The Vocative Case shows if you are talking to a person or a group of people

  • "eeee"

  • different from French? Sure about that? French is a vulgar latin language. In form and context it is latin. Many of the words in French, Italian and Spanish are identical to classic latin.

  • @SOLISDEUS I honestly can't remember offhand what I was referring to, but pretty sure it was in reference to how verbs are formed; Latin is inflective, French is not.

  • @SOLISDEUS

    yes si sí sì sim

  • @riadtel22 Pax amicus

  • @SOLISDEUS Yeah it's true, but the problem as when i read any phrase in Latin, the sintaxis and the grammar isn't similar to the spanish,i don't know how is the french or the italian i know that are very similar to the spanish but i cannot understand those languages easily though I speak spansh,so if i cannot understand the italian that is more similar than the french, the latin is unintelligible for me.

Instead i find more similar the Latin with the german as the spanish for example.

  • Oh my gosh, I LOVE your accent!

  • @QuantumCrayons

love the accent, can recognize it from a mile xd

  • this is hard

but at least its easier than greek

    i think :D

  • Correcting your example for the Genitive: man is genitive whereas dog is nominative. If you add a verb, the dog would be performing the action. Alternatively, you can say "The man's dog," which more clearly shows that 'man' is possessive and 'dog' is not. Again, you can insert a verb, and the dog will still be the subject of the sentence. To take your example:

Vir canis valet. - The man of the dog (the dog's man) is strong.

Canis viri valet. - The dog of the man (the man's dog) is strong.

  • you roll your R's a bit to much, but u understand the grammar which is awsome

  • @MaStErPhReSh333 It's mainly my accent (Scottish) that causes the rolling, though Latin would have had a very similar sound with the rolling.

  • @QuantumCrayons oh i see, all im saying is that you only need to roll them once, not like rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. But ur latin is very awesome!!

  • Hi QuantumCrayons

    How would you say

    'Give me your past

I will give you my future '

    in Latin? Thanks

  • @1000wrongdecisions

Addressing a singular person: "Da mihi memoriam tuī, tibi posteritatem meī dabō."

Addressing multiple people (plural): "Date mihi memoriās vestrum, vobīs posteritatem meī dabō."

The best noun I could find for 'future' was the English equivalent of 'posterity/future generations;' Can somebody else with a more extensive knowledge than me give a better noun?

  • @arichardson0972

    Thanks. Really appreciate it.

  • Bam bas bat, bamus batis bant. Bam bas bat, bamus batis bant. Bam bas bat, bamus batis bant. Bam bas bat, bamus batis bant. Bam bas bat, bamus batis bant.

  • hi I like your explanation of the declentions

  • haha, good vid... i love the stickman XD

  • The title clearly states BASIC NOUNS moron.

  • Mmhmm. These ARE basic nouns. Just wait 'til we get to the later stuff, oh boy. That is, if this gets continued. Which it should. Eventually.
