Probably because from 1980-1983, everyone including Gino Soccio and Cerrone were all biting into Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodger's chemisty around this time. Not to mention Chic was the forerunners of disco. Notice the chorus and the guitar playing are very Chic-like. I think the reason it might not sound like a Cerrone song is because Chic were very influential around the 1980-1983 dance period of music. Strange, but true.
