  • can u load 410, and 45 colt at the same time?

  • Yes.

    Jeff

  • If you buy the moon clips from taurus, you can shoot 45 acp from the judge and public defender. Taurus moon clips are a touch thinner than standards. So thats another ammo option for you judge and public defender owners.

  • Have you tried out the 605 Protector Poly .357 ?

  • I have handled a prototype, but noot seen a production gun yet.

    jeff

  • *Gunblastdotcom Got one week before last as a gift, it was damaged from the factory so I had to immediately send it back to Taurus. Looked like someone at the factory had dropped it and damaged the arm that attaches the cylinder to the frame causing the cylinder to be loose and wobbly. I hope to get it back from Taurus soon.

  • nice looking revolver!

  • Hey Jeff

    Did you keep this one

Does CT make a grip for this one

  • I did keep it, but am not sure if CT has a Lasergrip for it yet.

    jeff

  • Hey where did you get that awesome flag?

  • It is available from Seven Brothers Mercantile (sevenbros-dot-com) for only $4.99. Measures 3x5 feet with 2 grommets. Search for "M4 Come and Take It Flag", item number fsh-m4. We have no financial interest, it's just a cool flag that everyone should own.

  • better than nothing

  • LOL!!! "real good for social work" Thats a good one!

  • Should have put this in my last comment, is the .410 recoil similar to a .357 or any other pistol calibers?

  • @LoCo8NiKkA To be very honest with you, the recoil on this gun is very minor, maybe slightly more than a 357, but its not enough that it deters me from shooting one handed, with my off hand.

  • @cbsmoraine Oh, thanks the recoil from the .410 shells was the only thing that scared me away from getting this gun

  • @LoCo8NiKkA yeah, dont let it scare u, promise, the recoil is all absorbed by the grip, you honestly dont get any bite at all from the gun. i wasw pleasently surprised my self by it.

  • Awesome gun, but off topic how long it take you to grow ya beard? It rulez!

  • I stopped shaving in 1978. Haven't trimmed since 1990, except for a minor chain saw mishap earlier this year.

  • So is the shot pattern from a public defender different than the pattern from a regular judge?

  • It is not.

    Jeff

  • Good vid, what I would give to personnal carry - shame I'm in the UK

  • while my taurus gently weeps...

  • I need to get one of those flags!! Thanks for the review.

  • what range was that from Sir?

  • I won this model at a gun bash shoots great.

  • Haha The target looks like a Soviet soldier from the 80's

  • you're the man jeff really love your videos you really put valuable info out there (mini-14)... thank you!

  • is this CA legal?

  • @albzzz Dude I wish... CA thinks its a SBS, even though its rifled... LAME

  • I would trade my pre lock 686-6 for this gun.

  • Have you shot the .410 slugs out of it yet and if so, how way the felt recoil?

  • I have, and recoil is light. The buckshot loads throw more lead, and have more recoil, but are much more effective.

    Jeff

  • Soooo...could one take down a Nexus-6 model replicant with this?

  • @unnaturaltragedy Lol, it kind of dose resemble Deckards gun, or an older model before the 2019 version lol

  • GOD BLESS YOU.

i'd love too own one myself..i couldn't afford one new-maybe bye gods grace i'll be able to get one used? never know till ya try, huh?

    have a good'n.

  • I was a skeptic, but after reading the ballistics and firing it in person, it is a good self defense firearm, perfect for the house. Im buying a polymer framed judge myself this week. It's lighter than the Stainless Steel but a little heavier than the Ultra Lite model. Because it is polymer it was designed a bit different, and is close to an inch and a half shorter in length than the other Public Defenders making it a bit easier to carry concealed. Plus I like the thumb purchase on the hammer.

  • @snewso The .410 penetration USED to be bad when firing out of a judge, due to the ammo. .410 uses slower burning powder, because it's fired from a shotgun barrel. This is why many ppl refer to the box o truth tests, however, the tests run at the time used outdate ammo, or ammo not intended for the judge. The new ammo such as Federal Premium 000 Buckshot and the PDX1 rectified this problem by using faster burning powder.

  • To add to that, you can go online and check the results of the newer ammo and see it works great. The PDX1 fires 310 grains at 800-850 fps from a 3inch barrel. Avg 10 inches of ballistic gel penetration. The Federal Premium 000 Buckshot launches 4 .36 caliber size pellets of a combined 290 grains at 900-950 fps from a 3inch barrel with an avg of12 inches of ballistic penetration. You can google results online and Guns N Ammo. Both rounds are more than enough for self defense

  • I just love the way Jeff refers to some guns as being"real good for social work". The man definately has a way with words!

  • where did you get that target?

  • triggerhappytargets-dot-com.

  • @Gunblastdotcom o ok thanks man

  • Is this one chambered for the 3" magnum rounds?

I'd like to see a shrouded hammer version too.

  • They had one on display at SHOT, just like they had last year. No word yet on when they'll be made.

  • would you know if the taurus polymer .38 is on its way? i have been waiting soo much...

  • Love that gun

  • good review!

  • Enjoyed your videos for quite some time......great for us that cannot afford a closet full of guns but can see the true "hands-on" demonstration before we buy.

  • There's an extra ')' in the gunblast.com link. I was wondering why it wasn't working. You know, I think I've noticed that before on other vids when I tried to go to the site to read more.

  • Funny, it works fine from here. Thanks for the heads-up, anyone else having trouble?

  • @Gunblastdotcom Yes sir, for some reason the ")" at the end is messing with the links now. Odd.

  • That is odd - I asked my little brother (and webmaster) Boge, and he didn't change anything.

  • i like the guns,i think maybe they marketed em a little wrong but taurus definetly makes an awesome da revolver.

  • That'll punch your dance card... Love PDX ammo!

  • what sort of recoil does the 45 colt have in this?

  • Very manageable, with no pain at all.

    Jeff

  • "real good for social work" ...lol...love it ....what does it say on the top strap?

  • "PUBLIC DEFENDER POLY". There are many detailed pics in the referenced article.

  • "real good for social work" ...lol...love it

  • Polymer is the way to go!

  • Great job again, Jeff!

  • Its sucks that my State of The Peoples Republica of Commiefornia

Will not allowe the Tarus Judge or Public Defender on my states.

However, I only wish Ruger or Smith & Wesson can make something like the Judge or Defender.

  • The Glock of revolvers

  • @Just4kriminals No way anything with the Taurus stamp can be considered a Glock of anything. Glock is proven, torture tested and loved by millions. Because it's proven. There's the big difference.

  • Man I wish I could buy one of these in California.

  • "social work" you crack me up Jeff...

  • Another great review Mr Quinn. Thumbs up!

  • IMO, its a gimmick

  • IMO, it's a weapon.

    Jeff

  • @snewso They specialize in knocking off others successful guns and then they came up with a gun that shoots shot and call it a JUDGE. They paid huge money to have it shown in the movie Hitman and now people who have never shot a Taurus are bamboozled into their brand. Like I said previously, my own experience and many others at gun stores in Ca. and Mi. and TN. and a lot of internet users have had bad experiences with them. A gun is too important to take chances with imo.

  • @thatguy66ish From what i've read the penetration stats on the .410 buckshot are not sufficient for self defense.

  • @snewso Another good point.

  • @snewso ..you may think that but I watched a guy at our local gun club bust 15 out of 25 clay birds...shooting off hand with the 410 shot...I would say that is pretty damn impressive. not that it was ment for this but it goes to show in the right hands what the gun can do.

  • @9secondsflat that is impressive, and i'd like to try that, it sounds like fun, i'll just stick with a 1911, or Glock for personal protection.

  • jeff, about how far away was you from the paper target you patterned?

  • 10 yards.

  • With my experience with Taurus pistols, I wouldn't even try to fire one of their guns. Nothing but problems with my PT99, and that's not all I've heard about others problems. They paid a ton of money to get their Judge on the ending credits of a movie. Now everyones looking at them like they make good stuff. It's a shame so many people are going to be putting their safety in the hands of inferior weapons.

  • You have experience with one Taurus pistol. I have experience with dozens of them. I have owned Taurus guns for decades, and have not yet had a problem, with the exception of a Model 94 years ago that needed a burr filed off the firing pin. I can only report my findings. If the weapon functions perfectly, that is what I report.

  • I have also have many, many reports from those who have purchased Taurus firearms, and love them. You should not base your opinion of an entire manufacturer on your experience with one sample of their wares.

    Jeff

  • @thatguy66ish you didn't stop eating biscuits just because Mama burned one batch did you?

  • Probably tougher than what ever taurus normally uses for frames.

  • I like these reviews but they need to be longer. I feel like you have so much more to say about the guns.

  • I sure do! Please see the referenced review for more info, plenty of pics there too.

  • Cool revolver, Jeff.

  • Hi Jeff how easy is the trigger to pull back on the judge i own a 22 by taurus and the trigger pull on it is pretty rough to pull it back and can you adjust the trigger pull on the taurus ..thanks

  • 3 pounds, 15 ounces SA pull; 8 pounds, 14 ounces DA. Not bad at all. See the referenced review for more info.

  • Jeff I presume you have always wanted to counsel difficult, criminal types who like to rob houses :D I commend your choice of career in Social Work ;)

  • That's one cool Revolver.

  • nice

  • being made from polymer it will crack in a year and blow up in your face

  • I certainly hope not.

    Jeff

  • @FirearmsTechnician You dont like glocks, do you...

  • @FirearmsTechnician Why don't you carry it for a year then let me know how it goes. lol

  • @FirearmsTechnician: kevlar is a polymer and kevlar is 5 times harder than steel.

i would figure a "firearmstechnician" wouldn't be so ignorant.

  • @FirearmsTechnician: also, from the looks of it only the frame is made from polymer while the cylinder and barrel are clearly made from metal.

are you implying the frame is going to blow up for no good reason?

  • @PooPoo2U it has steel frame insert in the frame he said so it should be ok

  • @PooPoo2U im saying that over the years polymer taking that much force will crack and when something cracks in a firearms it will blow up i dont trust my life on it

  • @FirearmsTechnician: that doesn't make sense at all, and what i'm saying is that you don't know what you're talking about and are thus being ignorant of the facts.

a great number of polymers are not only harder than metal but are also less brittle, so consequently that great number of polymers is far less likely to crack or break than metal.

  • @PooPoo2U your just an idiot dont message me again polymer frames are not trustable

  • @FirearmsTechnician: well then, i'd say you better start calling every police force in the country that uses glocks and other poly guns to spread your intelligence to them, because all of them would disagree.

  • @FirearmsTechnician There are all kinds of polymers available. I'm pretty sure they can choose the most appropriate type.

  • @FirearmsTechnician Yeah, all those Glocks are constantly blowing up being made from polymer. What kind of a technician are you?

  • @valdostastate77 revolvers should not be made with polymer they are for weak preople who can not stand the weight of a real mans revolver or for women

  • @FirearmsTechnician What do you think Glocks are made of?........It is a plastic polymer as well.

  • Nice vid, looks like a great firearm to own for both fun and defense.

  • Very nice! Thank you sir!

  • Jeff do you know the veloicty on those pdx rounds?

  • I do not.

    Jeff

  • "The idea of a .410 shot shell in a revolver is real good for social work" Well said Mr. Quinn. Couldn't have said it better myself!

  • Great vid

  • one day my beard shal be as grand

  • do you ever load both 45colt and 410? such as every other cylinder or is that not recommended?

  • You can load chambers differently. For instance, if in country that has both poisonous snakes and large bears, that would make sense.

    Jeff
