oh man, thanks for posting this one - i love the black & white, and sepia effects you have added, really gives the feel of a much older show!!! Jeeves & Wooster is one of our all-time favorites in our home! and you just gotta love David Rose's compositions!
I've never seen the older adaption of the series - is it available on DVD?
Anyway, I think Fry and Laurie was perfect for the roles, reading the books it's easy to understand what a splendid job they did with capturing their characters' manners. You can really hear Laurie recite the book for you, as you read it.
Actually, those people have probably never even heard of Dennis Price who was, of course, one of the greatest Englsh character actors of the early 20th Century. Interesting to note that he went from acting into comedy whilst Fry & Laurie went from comedy into acting...two very different things. Fry & Laurie are fun but are not in Mr Price's class...
priapus56 I am in agreement with you .Fry and Laurie do a excellent job-just not as well. But the assessment may be coloured by the passing years.I haven`t seen it in 40 yrs. I believe the original series was erased, but the opening credits are available on youtube.
That was beautifully done of you - suited the music perfectly. And it was a very relaxing video to look at - you felt the spirit of the time in some way. It has a place in my favourite-box...
A musical piece by David Rose. In July 1962, he had a #1 hit with with The Stripper. That song was on the charts when I came into the world. Later, I became a pro wrestling fan. Ravishing Rick Rude would use The Stripper as his entrance music from 1987-1990 when he wrestled for what is now World Wrestling Entertainment. Sadly, David and Rick are no longer with us. Thanks for the memories, guys.
At 1:34 where Bertie takes the towel off his face, what episode is that from? I remember seeing that picture on Inside the Actor's Studio with Hugh, but I didn't know it was an actual scene.
