awesome electropop love it well done nice MELODY. Melodies are key to EUROPEAN music, the music from USA kinda lacks Melodies. The rest of World follows European music
@purpleryder ok i think i understand Americans call everyone DUDE don't they, can anyone tell me the historics, where this all started from? where the word DUDE came from?
The weird thing about simple MInds is that just when they seemed ready to truly conquer the world, they crashed and burned! Compare songs like this to their later stuff and it sounds like a different band!
What's the old saying..."from the sublime to the ridiculous!"
why do you think a band has to conquer the world? this band has grown up writing music and still to this day and will continue, theres not many bands from there generation still going real fans of simple minds are so lucky to be treated to new material and seeing them perform live year after year .. simple minds play live in feb/march 2012 5x5 tour if your lucky to get a ticket you can witness a show only from there first five albums,, so no dont you forget about me fans...
I had this record in high school. If I may paraphrase Bob Hope on the passing of Lucille Ball: The landfill has it now, but thanks to the miracle of MP3, I'll have it forever.
People today can have no concept of how back in the early 80s Simple Minds could have wiped the floor with any other band in the world. They had it down to a fine art.
Agreed. My fave is Real to Real Cacophony, but Empires and Dance, Sons of Fascination, Sister Feelings Call, and Life in a Day were all brilliant and ground-breaking records. Then they eventually caught the U2 bug and became sterile and boring just like U2 themselves.
The Hurting album by Tears for Fears was another brilliant record. Roland was only 18 years old when he created that masterpiece.
But Simple Minds had a huge influence on him and many others.
unique, warm, just bloody well put together by a bunch of young blokes (as they were then!). Bring back Mick McNeill - I reckon he would make all the difference today. Has anyone got Mick's contact details, I want to tell him to get off his arse and insist he gets back in the fold!
he plays with Derek now in a band called 4 good men or 4gd for short, dont think he will ever go back to SM., why should he, its not hard to walk away from something thats broken and cant be repaired.
Best track of Simple Minds beside Theme for great cities and Someone up there likes you, they have brilliant instrumental tracks, this sound so peaceful and calm. Thank you !
