Let's say it's all true, he's wealthy, etc. He's doing institutional analysis on the flaws in the system. He lives in the system and has to play by the system's rules to live. We all do. You're talking about him having to make some kind of symbolic statement against capitalism by living like a pauper in order not to be a hypocrite. What a useless detour from educating and organizing that would be. It's like somebody completely against the labor movement refusing to ever take a weekend.

Kissinger wrote a 350 page thesis for his doctorate at Harvard. He is one of the main architects for the diplomatic relationship the US enjoys with the PRC. Chomsky was a stooge for the Russian Bolsheviks for decades, and is a self-absorbed arse, so it's not surprise that he wouldn't show any respect for Kissinger's accomplishments.

The fact is that, although Chomsky is a gifted thinker regarding the structure of language, what he has to say about world politics is worse than useless.

@1973mazdarx4coupe I'm not a fan of his main linguistic theories either. But you must admit that his means of analysis, such as his means of deconstructing the parsing of sentences, is revolutionary. We use his ideas in computer code construction and analysis.

I'm not sure if he's a marxist. In an interview Chomsky criticized Marx for being more authoritarian in the later part of his life and left behind his more "socialist" views. He's really great when it comes to foreign policy, even to this day if you told the American public our foreign policy is based on corporate interests, they would call you a conspiracy theorist. And that's where chomsky really shines.

False. Please read what he writes. Chomsky NEVER supported the Khmer Rouge. That's a lie. He just pointe dout that the media lied about the situation. A famous swedish journalist once wrote a critical book about famous western intellectual's support for Pol Pot. Even he admits that Chomsky NEVER supported them, he just pointed out that the reporting from Camodja was not good at the time.

His goal is to increase the power of government to remove corporations from areas of power and then naturally allow the State dissolve itself. How would that EVER happen? In my freetime I'm working as an economist organizing worker cooperatives. As John Lewis Partnership and Mondragon. Exactly what Chomsky think we should do. I've read every Chomsky article about Khmer Rouge. Nowhere does he support Pol Pot. But he critizise western mass media coverage of Cambodia at the time, which was of very low quality. Every expert on the Khmer Roughe mass slaughter (and the US support for Pol Pot after the Vietnamese invasion) knows that.

He puts footnotes for facts that nobody would question and gives no evidence for any lies or favoritism from Chomsky. He recommends a movie in them. Also, Chomsky never advocated for Hezbollah or Hamas. He may have said something to the effect that Israel commits much more terrorism by far, and that Israeli attacks force any Arab leadership in that region to become violent, but that's absolutely true.

@DrCruel Like I said in the last post, he didn't visit Hezbollah. He visited southern Lebanon and Hezbollah is the government in southern Lebanon. The video you pointed to was showing him touring an ISRAELI TORTURE CAMP IN LEBANON FROM 2007. The person who gave him the tour was in Hezbollah, but that's the extent of his dealings with them. He did many other things in Lebanon, but the media chose to highlight what they could spin. You obviously didn't read the interview I referred to.
