@0:32 Tony Curtis' feminine disguise actually resembles Eve Arden, lead actress in "Our Miss Brooks," a weekly TV comedy about a high school teacher continually harassed by Principal Mr.Denton; while also adoringly pestered by a senior boy in permanent-crush mode! This show was a family t.v. favorite, in b&w, along with [cr.1955-1965] Leave It To Beaver, Ozzie & Harriet, I Love Lucy, The Rifleman, Matt Dillon, Dragnet, Dick Clark's very 1st Bandstand; even Liberace`! We loved'em all! ^_~\\
Marilyn, bless her, played Marilyn to the HILT!! That was her trade mark, just as Jennifer Anniston's trademark is her Friends hairdo! And Elvis' was his curlylips and shaky pelvis! And so on. But Marilyn had a product to sell to the public - her good self - and sell it she did. She wasn't a blue collared dope from America. If she was, she would have been breastfeeding ten kids before she was twenty!
So would that other "dumb" blonde who died a few years ago.
in an interview on the "some Like it hot" dvd, tony curtis actually stated he never said kissing marylin was like kissing Hitler and him, jack and marylin often when to a diner across from the studio for late dinners and such.
Marilyn Monroe, the Greatest Star of All, was superb in Some Like It Hot. An amazing performance. Initially another actress was cast but when Wilder found out MM was interested, Marilyn Monroe was not only cast but took first billing over Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon and ran away with the picture. A legendary performance. RIP Wilder, Lemmon, Curtis, MM and the incomparable Joe E Brown and his immortal fadeout "Nobody's Perfect" What a movie, what a cast!
I love her.. anyone that watches her no matter age or many of us that were not here yet or were mere babies.. you got to love her.. so precious of a lady, and so ahead of her time for that period.. RIP .. wish I had known you.
Clandestine-Transvestites... weird... MM was the 1st public sex-slave of 50's MK-Ultra trauma-based mind control. That led to her death to silence her around the time of JFK's assassination... it's all connected for anyone to research.
Yes, right you are!! Lots of trannys, clandestine and otherwise, and of course Marilyn... very public and for sure a slave to the rhythym. And dammit to hell, that the good old American way!! Mother, apple pie and a hot transvestite!! Let's do some research!!!
MM was a 20th Century Fox star who went on suspension to get both more money and more importantly to Her a choice of Directors and outside pictures. This classic film was made at United Artists with Billy Wilder directing brilliantly. Jack Lemmon was nominated, in a glaring oversight Miss Monroe was not, looking back not only should MM have been nominated, MM should have won the Oscar for her iconic performance. she is amazing as person and as the beautiful actress at same time.
i mean i was thinking about her, and figured out.she was special in more fields, and really different, but not arrogant and in the end of all that she died so young. her end was tragic and there is still question how did she really pass away.. is it a suicide or homocide and what was that in her or wherever else what made her so sad in the depth of her soul,
but something was really there.and it says, she was big man, a legend!
my english isn't that great, so i want to know what is the most polite word to call a woman's rear end. is it :"bottom, behind, booty, or butt" because i think, and maybe i'm wrong, that the word ass isn't nice ? or is it?
Jack Lemmon(1925-2001) was a great 2 time Academy award winning actor. This movie is wonderful, it holds up today in 2009.
Marilyn Monroe was delicious in this role. Marilyn was a lot smarter than she looked. She put herself out as a bimbo because that's what the studio wanted, but she was a person who loved books and music, and she was into self improvement. She studied at the Actors Studio in New York. I wished she had lived longer to show the world how brilliant she was!
love this movie. Shame Tony Curtis would talk so badly about her. Jane Russell put him in his place on Larry King one night(either her birthday or anniversary of her death) Totally told Tony to STFU literally.lol
yes, I wish they would. Also another funny clip as Larry King does shows on Marilyn's b-day and anniversary of her death. Micky Rooney was on talking about Marilyn, then started to talk about Judy Garland. LOL He got sidetracked and Larry had to remind him UHHH Micky what does that have to do with Marilyn? He replied, well Marilyn worked with us on the same lot.lol Another had Jim(her 1st husband) he claimed to be the love of her life. Whatever. I was told last minute so didn't record them:(
Wrong! The entire upper berth sequence was done in two takes,,,and there were no re-takes AT ALL in all the beach scenes--in the hot sun, with crowds watching, planes overhead. That;s why she was frustrating--then she'd get stuck on one word! But funny as the years go by, the number of takes she required gets higher? The infamous "me, Sugar" began as 12 takes. NOW it's up to 80.
He is dead to any true Monroe fan. The man didn't speak a good word until about 20 years ago, when he saw it might be better (for him) to remember her nicely. And of course, claim an affair. (his recent bio was one lie after another.) What Tony cares NOT to remember is that his voice in "Hot" was dubbed--his girl voice. So, a lot of funniest stuff is really...fake.
@td2gether4ever Love the movie also. While I didn't hear what Curtis may have said,I have read from a # of sources that for all of her talent, Marilyn was habitually late for sets & could be something of a Prima Donna. Jane Russell telling him to STFU doesn't make her right or Curtis wrong.
@tsjaaaa See "Tony Curtis and Roger Moore are The Persuaders" by wwwrogermoorecom for Tony's explanation. It was taken out of context by the media

Yeah I havent seen all of them all i have seen is Gentlemen prefer blondes and all about eve? "ohh waiter." "That is not a waiter my dear that is a butler."... She was excellent
Aaaw, I wish this scene had continued... Sweet Sue shrieking "Beanstalk!!!" when she sees the flask, and Daphne (Jack Lemmon) claiming it's his. So funny.
This movie chases the blues away every time. It's just a happy movie.
WHo would You say was the best actress than if it isnt Marilyn Monroe? I have to disagree with you. I think Marilyn monroe was a Great actress one of the best!

yes, Marilyn never gave a bad performance on screen. She was a great actress really.AND she is the most sweet woman ever seen on screen and the most sexy too and incredible beautiful
I LOVE this movie. Marilyn was looking beautiful as always. And Tony Curtis, along with Jack Lemon did a fantastic job. A five (or ten) stars movie...

Marilyn had sex with Tony Curtis when making this film.
She then told her husband who was not best pleased.
He asked Tony what he had to say for himself ? (all this taking place in front of Marilyn) Tony said that Marilyn and her went back a long way.
Marilyn and Tony used to go for drives and fool around together when they were a lot younger.
They used to go to one of Tonys friends apartments and have sex because Marilyn was being looked after by someone else and could not be seen with

One of those very rare movies that make you glow inside.
It's a real gem.
What a name! 'Sweet Sue' :-)
And goose it up alittle!

Brilliant movie. Very witty and just perfect. It was made at the right moment with the correct cast. It cannot be remade in any capacity.

I love when Marilyn's hair falls over her eye when she winks at Jack Lemmon. Thanks for posting this! I have seen many very good MM impersonators on YouTube, but no one quite can capture her. Marilyn was certainly special!

I had to record it from another YouTube Video using Camtasia. So, sorry about the quality but it still does it for me...
