  • heh, loved your ending line. It is so typical Bilbo :-)

  • This cartoon was great(unlike 'The Return of the King' that was also made by Rankin/Bass,that one sucked) I hope that the new films live up to this cartoon and the one of the best kids book ever written.

  • Fantastic !!!

  • So does anyone know what's actually going to happen with the Hobbit movie?

I've heard its going to be backed up because MGM is going bankrupt.

  • personally i would rather be back in hjobiton :)

  • goblins and orcs are basically the same thing but goblins don't really work for anyone.. even Sauron... they just live in mountains and steall stuff from travelers and lurk around at night... they don't have armor or anything like that.. they are kinda like have their own tribes and stuff... but orcs are more organised and still stayed near mordor and the waste lands of gora`gora... but goblins do time to time work as trackers or back up for orcs and Uruks.

  • goblins are weaker and smaller

    and can climb walls

    like in the games

  • actually in the return of the king *cartoon version* Sam says " Orcs in the tower! Old Bilbo called them goblins" so they are the same thing ^.^ plus they look the same in it to.

  • the music is just awesome, what is it?

  • Bilbo looks like some kind of bam beetle on Crack and heroin

  • Why do the trolls have two throats?

  • They're orcs.

Always wondered that myself, though... really creepy.

  • i've seen all lotr cartoons but in hobbit dwarves like from the "Snow White" :D.But in middle-earth dwarves aren't like this...

  • lol!!! smaug looks like a fox. but this vid rocks! tolkien is the best!

  • This could get Nasty with all of em dwarves especially if Pamela anderson or Jeena J will star in it !

  • wow! Brilliant, I'll have to send this to my freinds Rachael and Elli, they're crazy about the hobbit!

  • y....xq..en dibujitos???,...plop!!

  • i loved this film, hey check out my Hobbit-like series and tell me what u think.

  • why warner bros??????

  • sorry - ignore that comment

  • because warner bros has the rights to it...since way back this animated movie is theirs. they also did a lotr return of the king animated. this was way before the lotr everyone knows.

  • where do you get the second backround music

  • Probably some random movie

  • No this is actually A Hobbits Tale the animated one. :P

  • where do you get the second backround music

  • sounds like potc...the first trailor.

  • It's fanmade

  • Duh.

  • very good looks like a real trailer to me :)

  • i am Gandalf and GANDALF MEANS ME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its a bit dissapointing..... smaug......has a cat head...

  • yes

  • The dragons in cartoons always look better than CGI as well

  • I love it -- better than LOTR movies put together

  • good trailer

  • thanks for telling me. Still it was good! If I'm not mistaken the Hobbit is to be the next movie--can't wait to see it.

  • Smaug has a beard, last time I checked dragons were cold blooded reptilians, who don't grow hair, or fur.

  • Smaug is special =]

  • Fun! I loved that cartoon! Except for the elves (Blech!)

  • Yeh what was with them Erond had a bloody beard!

  • this movie bring me back

  • even though it was sort of silly with the songs I still like the cartoon. I can't wait for the movie to come out. There is a trailer and it showed the dragon as a cgi dragon--very cool!

  • it was fake, unfortunately

  • Seen it, love it :D

Also look the cartoon about lotr

  • These trolls look like Tolkien fans after being told New Line will get Bob Shaye to direct himself.

Disney need to get a petition from ring fans to buy the rights and hire PJ.

  • lemiwinkslem-lemi, leeemiwinks! gerbilking.

  • I wonder...Why would they make a spider look like a mix between Charlotte and the old man from the Neverending Story?

  • aww, I have it on dvd, its cute :)

  • Admittedly the gollum scene was perfect.

However the alot of the rest of the movie was horribly off base, inaccurate and just plain horrible.

Still, definitely worth watching if you're a tolkein fan, and good flick overall. I enjoyed it as a kid about a decade before I heard about lord of the rings.

  • i member this... though i havent seen it since ocean city about 5 yrs ago

  • Hehe, nice. But i like that the orcs in this movie look totally different from the orc/goblins of the PJ movies. They're really interesting..

  • i cant find this movie anywhere

  • i used to love this movie

  • Me too! I thought the Gollum was the greatest! He was so creepy! I loved Smaug too!

  • Scary gollum. :hides under bed: I was 5 when I first saw this. This trailermabob is great. ^^

  • lol goullum was creepy! i bought a doll for my son and hates it lol!

  • true this movie doesn't have the excitement of Peter Jackson's movies, but this movie scared the SHIT out of me when I was a kid. I agree, Serkis cant hold a candle to this gollum, I watched this movie when I was 6 (Im 16 now) and I still remember distinctly parts of the gollum scene

  • FRODOOOOO WITH THE NINE FINGERS! AND THE RING OF DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! WHERE THERE IS A WHIP THERE IS A WAY!

the music was awesome i remember it to this day.

  • But those two songs are from "the return of the king". But, yep, they're nice music.

  • It was my first start towards Lord of The Rings. I loved that movie so much, even if it did scare the shit outta me when I was younger. <3

  • you know nothing of lord of the rings. all you know of is some bs from a dumb little cartoon. theodore ruined gollum. you need to brush up on your LOTR knowledge because you obviously know very little about LOTR.

  • You. Moron.

" you know nothing of lord of the rings"

    You know nothing of anything.

The Hobbit came first. Nobody is talking about LOTR. We're talking about THE HOBBIT.

  • Sekis made Gollum comic relief. Theodore was Gollum. He was supposed to be terrifying, yet we were supposed to pity him at the same time. He was going to eat Bilbo, but he was some miserable creature that lived in a dark cave [he hated the dark, but he hated the light even more] all by himself, kept alive by the one thing that ruined his life.

  • you're an idiot. this was about as much gollum as that was smaug.

  • no bullshit it came first! The Hobbit is still part of the LOTR, and this wasnt gollum at all.

  • you are an idiot. basing your opinions on a cool little cartoon from your childhood rather than real LOTR canon. Serkis IS gollum! this film ruined the character by making him into a frog! and his voice is all wrong! i just cant wait till Jackson makes his live action version! it will blow this bastardization outta the water!

  • Since when has Jackson followed LotR canon?

  • AWESOME! Thanks for posting! I have one favor to ask. Can you pretty pretty please post the origional song sequences with the origional songs behind them? That right there is some of the greatest music ever made in my opinion and I can't find it anywhere!

  • I love the music, specially Glenn Yarbrough's "greatest adventure"

  • Yeah! That's one of the greatest songs ever written, in my opinion. Someone should really post that one and the rest of them.

  • I still have the original VHS of that animated series!

  • O_O So do I!

  • Yeah, me too. Only on my tape when Thorin is explaining what they were doing in the *cough* GOBLIN'S *cough* cave thingy, all you can hear is "We were seek---- from the storm" It's been like that as long as I can remember. Does it say "...seeking shelter from the storm"?

  • whooo scary=P

  • WTF

  • woooaaah dumbledore looks like the cartoon merlin xD

  • That movie friggin' sucks and really needs a remake more than THE WIZARD OF OZ!

  • this my friends, is a perfect example of what MTV is doing to our youth.

  • ??? I don't watch MTV!

  • surprising. anyone who could say something like that about The Wizard Of Oz i'd expect to be a MTV drone.

  • This movie is old but still a classic. worth picking up on DVD.

  • this is great

  • Glad you all liked it. Yes, the drawings in this version of the Hobbit seem off to the modern eye. Since watching the Peter Jackson version we all have some sort of way in which we think the different races should be represented. I think the characters should be left to your own imagination. Tolkein gave us the ideas and its up to us to make thiem come to life. There isn't really a wrong or right answer to what they should look like.

  • Great point on the imagination thing but I really don't think that bilbo baggins should look like a redwood tree

  • I just re-read the book and the creatures are definately "goblins" and not "Orcs"... check it up if you don't believe me. Do you perhaps remeber the great goblin wars, the goblin king Bolg and the war of the four armies?? This is gettin too nerdy now so we'll agree to disagree :P

  • actually i think its the war of FIVE armies not four

  • goblins and orcs are the same thing. Tolkien just called them different things. If you read all the books you'll often notice little differences in the way he names or describes things. It's just an issue you can run into when creating large works.

  • they are orcs they are just called goblins.

  • the goblins ARE the orcs!

  • See my above comment.

Does it really matter? Well, I guess it mattered to Tolkien.

  • Thanks for explaining that, I always thought orcs were just superior goblins, just like the wargs are larger and eviler wolves.

  • Theyre not supposed to be orcs theyre supposed to be goblins!!

  • As far as i can remember, there have been Orks in the book the Hobbit and not "Goblins".And hunarf is right, the dwarfs are way to small. They are supposed to be bigger than hobbits.

  • they are orcs just with a different name!

  • thats stupid, the dragon has a catface and the orks could use some Slimfast.

  • They're goblins I'll have you know

  • Don't you know they're both the same, noob? ;- )

I always thought Smaug looked like a cat in this movie as well. He even has whiskers.

  • what music is?

    please put the name

  • damn those dwarfs look like hobbits with down syndrome, wheres the muscle?

  • omg the orcs look so stupid... -_-'

They are my favorite race in lotr universe...

  • they aren't orcs. they're goblins.

    duhr. -_-'

  • it's the same thing, noob

  • Tolkien's orcs actually weren't goblins, though in the case of The Hobbit they were somewhat interchangeable. In The Hobbit they were usually called goblins, not orcs, though it happened once or twice.

  • nope, there are orcs in the hobbit to... now go bother someone else, will ya?

  • That's what I just said. Did you even read my comment?

  • Waw i'd love to see that movie. i read the book but I never knew there was a movie of it. Does anyone have it uploaded yet?

  • Pretty good trailer, someone should upload this movie.

  • not bad, loved that movie. I liked the other LOTR movies too ^^

  • this version was my introduction to "The Hobbit" and "Lord of the Rings". it was very entertaining for a 1977 release. i would suggest for everyone to rent it.
