I agree with you to an extent. I like the blue and the red. My concern is just that wool is going to get damaged very easily. There are metro buses that have similar seat covers and they are in horrible condition, with tons of stains and what not. Also, it is just a waste of money, in my opinion.
I like the new seat covers! Maybe I'm in the minority but even the neon pattern looking ones look much better than those gross puke orange ones. I really like the red ones.
As much money as Metro claims to be losing, I can't believe they would waste money re-covering seats that are perfectly fine as they currently are! The current covering is very durable and I've never seen any wear on the seats. Wool will not last long and with the large number of destructive folks that ride metro, they are gonna have to replace these new covers regularly. Which will probably lead to them raising our fares again.
Could the neon ones be any uglier!! Also, why are they using what appears to be an absorbent material? Just wait until some punk kid spills his Coca-Cola all over it; or worse yet, some drunk bum vomits or urinates on it. Now the seat covers can absorb it all like a paper towel. Hooray Metro!!

SF's BART has fabric seats. They look terrible: worn, stained, and nasty. They also smelled like dirty clothes.

Metro seems to be contradicting themselves. They want to take carpet out of the cars, but at the same time want to put wool on the seats.

How can this possibly be better than the existing seat covers? Ugly, absorbent, stain-able.
It can only be cheaper. I can't think of any other reason. I hope the ones they're replacing are absolutely unusable.

If a person like
RunningAfterAntelope 'barfs' on the seat then it would leave a stain that would last forever.
Please don't change the covers to ugly fabric.
