Mannn i remember this episode like it was yesterday! My cousin had this on VHS and i could always spot a barney vhs cuz it was white! I used to watch it everytime i went to my cousin's house. But i remember i didnt c this til after i saw the more common barney (magenta) and i always wondered y he was so dark and y the doll version looked so fucked up wit a skinny head lol. But now i know its cuz this was the ORIGINAL BARNEY! And im glad i grew up watching it :)

God That thing was the devil when i was a kid, it was like the gates of hell opening up with the barney home video logo then that thing showed up right afterward at 0:53 omg run!! I remember having a nightmare of that thing once and it just appeared out of nowhere but suddenly something happened, Before it's little Laugh " hiya kids" out of nowhere he flew up toward the ceiling turned into probably the most disturbing form of him i ever seen and disappeared as he flew through the roof Howling.

This might be the first Backyard Gang video I remember seeing. I wasn't scared of this Barney costume. But I think the A Day at the Beach video might have had the Barney previews in the end instead of Sandy Duncan. The original Barney previews really had me scared because of the way Barney was moving.

This was the first Barney VHS I ever watched, and I still love it to this day! I'm probably one of the few people who prefer the Backyard Gang to the Barney and Friends series. I just adore the nostalgia of it.

@jssstephenson I like both of them the same. Remember, this was a long time ago, most special effects and stuff was cheap, and children shows didn't get that much money to start out. I like the whole Barney franchise and everything they make.

Same writers, same kids, same creator, same songs. When you look deep into it and see what it really is, you'll see how both of them are actually the same, just with a different name.

@MikeslyMontague To be fair, this series is not really "educational". I know they harp that this series melds "entertainment and education", but this series mostly entertains. Even though I agree that Barney & Friends is better, it's nice to see the "developing concept' that started it all.
