UK has joined the EU (since 1993), that means residents of UK are free to reside in any of the 27 European countries outside the UK. Still nothing has been done for the 'British Nationals' living in HK. Do the British politicians or British people residing in the UK understand why the word 'shame' is used?
I guess it's time for us Hong Kong people to wake up from this great lesson. Yes, I admit that it's appreciated and admirable for what British had brought for us back then, however what they had developed is only for every British fellow. We gain nothing from them although there's where we were borned!!
Add to that, there are qualified HKers who were able and have immigrated to UK, what about those who don't qualify or are of very low quality?? Think about how British would react if these people and in total 5 million, suddenly flooded into UK. So at the time it was better for the UK gov to disappoint HK than to cause a massive backfire and uproar back in UK.
Ironic 09:58 that the protesters call and consider themselves Hong Kong "Chinese" asking to be in Britain. Today the same thing is happening with the Phillipino maids asking for right of abode in HK.
From UK's point of view, it really doesn't work to suddenly have 5 million HKers flood into UK, so I can see where they are coming from. There were still a number of HKers who were allowed to immigrate to UK.

大部份香港人祖父輩都是中國人,為什麼要到帶有恥辱的地方暫住,原因不外乎,逃避戰亂,饑荒等等,但戰爭過後,和平降臨,何解人口不跌反升,還冒死離開偉大的祖國湧入香港,至今不絕,但願死者安息,建國前香港跟中國基本一檥,建國後有點不同,躍進時已經不同,文化期絕不認同,開放中略有不同,事件後不敢苟同,收回後還是不同,香港總是與別不同,獨中國氣質不變,愈想除去香港的價值,愈不順利,空有血源,沒有血性,見利忘義,人格盡失,路人皆見,香港人愈了解中國,人心愈是不歸,文字簡化,行為簡化,思想簡化,連生命也可簡化,還想統一言語,此等中華名存實亡,受人因果千年記,向英國致敬。
