@arushandapushand - The ute had the far right lane to itself, until the bus started moving right... So I'm not sure why the bus driver would honk at the ute. The impression from my position was "hurry up, damn bikes!"
But he might beep at the ute out of shock - The bus driver was planning to move right after the ute, but hadn't anticipated the trailer. So when he almost collides with the trailer, he honks. Even though he has no logical reason to honk.
Looks like the "red mist" descended after the trailer squeezed passed, it looked pretty good till then, once someone cut in, safety just didn't matter any more. Not the temperament you want to see the the driver of a passenger vehicle!
@TheVexatiousLitigant - I wouldn't say the trailer "squeezed" past... It's hard to see it, But where I'm stopped is just about where the two-lane road turns into a three-lane road. The ute/trailer is in the far right lane; the bikes are queued in the far left lane.
Also check out how the bus stops short and the front bumper dips as the trailer comes past. That could've been messy. I really think the driver didn't see the trailer or the motorcycle behind it.
not good getting so close to the cyclists.
But wasnt he beeping at the truck with the trailer rather than the cyclists?

Of course your impression could be right.

To save face if anything.

That was outrageously bad driving by that bus driver. Shame on them. :(
