Our beloved Tom who is featured in this film passed away December 10. Tom resided at Fauna Foundation for the last few years of his life. Tom was taken from his family when he was an infant and lived the rest of his life in captivity. Fauna gave him the love and care for the last few year
The chimps need our help. Support the Great Ape Protection Act.
@judyrusso I was moved to tears by the loving relationship between Tom and Pat Ring. One of the most beautiful real life moments I have ever seen on film. Thank you for taking care of these sweet guys and I will happily support the Great Ape protection act
Imagine how great it feels to leave cold, metal cages and get to walk on grass in the sunshine. It kills me to think of these sentient and gregarious creatures locked up in cages, languishing for decades on end.
They say that fire made us smarter i think it was us eating shore food like clams and fish that made us smarter (dha omega 3) intern learning how to make fires.
sorry no mater how much dna we share with them, chimps are not human dogs or cats are not human and people would rather treat them good and treat other humans like shit!! you beter not kill a bald eagle but its ok to go and have an abortion and kill a Human , im just saying the truth people get heart brocken about animals but dont care about thier felow brothers and sisters
@gnova68 That is not true gnova. I care deeply about helping animals and people who are suffering alike. And we DESPERATELY need to control our population somehow. Do you want to see your fellow human beings starve to death en masse, perhaps even joining them?
why don't we get a bunch of Chimpanzees and let them room the wild somewhere here?Thats what i would do if i was Peta i would let hundreds of chimps run the wild somewhere around north america and introduce the north American Chimpanzees
This film made me cry , its so heart touching. To have my eyes open to how much we've taken these chimps for granted, and it makes ya think, what where people thinking? How can we test things on inocent creatures? How can we kill parent chimps for their babies and use their babies as entertainment? Its sick.
Outstanding video, the soft facts exposing the underlining influence of man in a way to educate and not place blame or insult, has made Allison Argo not only a great filmmaker, but a great educator. To change miss guided behavior, one must reach those in need of change and open the eyes of those that do not see the true consequences of their action. I applaud this film makers ability to do just that. Well done
The worst creature that GOD created was HUMAN, we kill each other and hurt each other, we kill his animals, we torture his animals, WHY???????I have No answer except for humans suck!!!! Everyone always ask me why I contribute so much to the animals and nit to the children, people have choices, animals do not, I understand that children do not have choces, but every human I have helped has screwed me, stolen from me or left me broke.
@watchmyshoes22 yeah but they don't subject others to cruel experimentation and immoral captivity. You should really consider watching the whole documentary. it was a real eye opener.
You need a new group of friends, not everyone is out to get you.. saying humans suck is very ignorant, alot of humans do terrible things but alot of humans are good, The answer isnt Humans suck, it's that there isnt a god watching over. simple
btw i live with animals.. i'm animal my parents are.. brother and cat are too. but i wouldn't want to live with monkeys like something xD btw you're animal too
I totally agree! And, well, the woman in this vid is healping the chimps - shes a good human... But - why does she need to healp them? Becous of what bad humans did! So - Some humans are atleast good enough to healp when the damage is done allready
As humans we have destroyed everything we touch. There is no god or he would have helped his creatures. He certainly couldn't rely on us to help them.
Chimpanzees are being killed for bushmeat in their habitat and their forest habitat is being destroyed for making charcoal. Chimpanzees in entertainment helps to show how close they are to humans and that will help in protecting them in the wild.
Wonderful video! They are very forgiving animals despite what humans have done to them...If only humans would remember ONE thing...Wild animals belong in the wild!
We need so many more people like this filmaker to educate others and to help protect these marvelous animals before they are gone forever. Leave them alone to live their lives just as we do...FREE!
I'm thirteen and I'm so upset w/ how animals have been being treated ever since I was 8, my idol is Jane Goodall, and this video is my inspiration to help the animals some day when I can...but for now I am only 13. But others (like possibly u reading this) could help them. Selfish humans are the downfall of animals. We poach them, we take there land and shove them off...I'm hoping that some one reading this will be encouraged to do something...cuz i cant yet! please if u can...make a difference!
I recently visited chimps at the NC Zoo, and posted video of them on YouTube. I could watch them all day. NC Zoo says chimps will likely be extinct in the wild in 15 years! And I read a book by Jane Goodall that was great. Thanks for this video. Let's help the chimpanzees.
I have spent time with chimps in at the Fauna Foundation which is featured in the film.. Visiting fauna changes your life forever. So many of them still carry the scars of their abuse after so many years. Gloria even gave them names. All captive chimps need desperately to go into permanent sanctuary. They don't belong in entertainment or circuses. Horrible abuse goes on in those industries. Learn what you can about them and share with others.
the only threat to the planet is humanity...as the dominant species we have to face a simple question...is our perogative to use everything below us or is it to protect everything below us?
This is indeed a wonderful piece. It is appalling to imagine a species possessing analytical intelligence and used to roaming the vast equatorial forests of Africa being confined to a steel cage the size of a broom closet for thirty years in the name of "medical progress". Much of the research used to justify this disastrous practice has proven to be worthless. Chimpanzees will be extinct in thirty years unless enforceable laws prevent them from being taken out of their natural habitat.
i dont approve of medical research with animals -- but its hard to deny the medical progressions humans have gained from chimps. we have to be willing to make tradeoffs if we want to be humane.
Chimpanzee's are the closest things to humans we will ever hope to find. They deserve our respect and protection. Already chimps show signs of primitive man. They use tools and can understand language. They in their own little way are the next "humans".
WEll...it's good that you care...but it seems some of You care about your own ideas and passion for ideas as much as the chimps. At least the chimps benefit. SOme of the medical tests are VERY important. The naturists have gone a little batshit crazy though.
Don't you dare even say that!!! We don't act as you say! We vote because we are smarter than you, all you men care about is power, television, money, etc! Your right, we're equal to plants & animals, but men are way lower in intellegence! That's 4 damn sure...
Absolutely wonderful piece. Thanks for putting it up. Humans are so anthropomorphic--can't accept other species in terms other than through a human lens.
So sad what humanity has done to the animal kingdom...Thankful for this documentary to open peoples eyes to the direction we are going if we don't do something now. No more animal testing Or sacrificing animals happiness for our few seconds of enjoyment!
Are you one of those crazy cristians? Guess what, god doesn't exist, did you know that I once had a bible and I burned it and laughed! We evolved from apes, duh, and we are made of vitamins, minerals, and energy. Also, did you know that aliens are real?
No, I am not a crazy Christian. I am a religious Sister and an animal lover. Yes, we did evolve from apes, and are made up of vitamins, minerals, and energy, but how do you go from there to there being no God.
And why do you need to say "duh"? Do you think that people of faith are necessarily stupid? I have to tell you that this comes across to me as bigoted.
I did not mean that in a bad way, sorry if I sounded offensive, but I'm just in a terrible mood. And, I'm kind of rude and defensive when it comes to animals. But yes, like yourself, I am a huge animal lover!!*_* I did not mean to question your religion, it's none of my business, great apology's! Sorry.
Your so right! People have messed with mother nature so much, that we have to stick together to make up for it and try to stop poaching, and experimental practices. These poor poor animals.
Don't be so apologetic for questioning the existence of God. Would you have apologized to a Communist for telling them that Communism doesn't work? There's nothing irrational about believing in some kind of god so long as you don't pretend to know its name or what it wants etc. or even that it's intelligent (but then why call it god?).
That said, we're more closely related to chimps than THEY are to any other ape. We should really be taking much better care of our cousins :(
Yes, but I would not appreciate others questioning my beliefs any more than they do me. I 100% agree with you...oh and missgmcc didn't post all of this, I did: Tigerclaws107, just on another account.^^

All people care about are their deeper pockets.
They would rather destroy the Earth and get 2 billion$, than save the Earth and get 1 billion$.
They are greedy, and heartless(The people responsible)!!! They have put animals to the brink of existance, like the Dodo bird, and the Bali tiger!
When they mess with the tigers, they mess with me...
