  • lovin it forever!!

  • Thumbs up if your still listening to this on your iPod in 2012!

  • I can't believe those haircuts were considered long back in the mid 60's

  • 10 people don t live for today!

  • look up this song by the lords of the new church. they change it up a bit. well actually they change it up a lot but its still really good :)

  • Man, we need more music like this today!

  • Thumbs up if the office brought you here!

  • Wow! Creed is officially the coolest person on the office now!

  • @jennkennfan34 he always was. :)

  • The offices creed bratton on the left, that man is a god

  • A hippie song I like! Imagine that!!

  • @donnydcyclops, yes, if we open our minds, we can put more in them. either way brother, the pitfall seems to be,

not to believe ones' own Bullshit!

  • LOVE THE LYRICS

  • can't find anything current in music that i want to hear...so this will do fine

  • The announcer is Jimmy Durante. He was an old comedian who kind of had the same routines as Bob Hope, but with a cooler voice. He narrated Frosty The Snowman.

  • Creed for Dunder Mifflin Manager.

  • A simpler band from a simpler time, that's what made them great. Back then music always seemed happy, upbeat, and told you how to live life and fix your problems, rather then talking about growing up in the ghetto and how miserable you are.

  • @alextheawsome There is much truth in your thoughts here.

  • @alextheawsome What's it called when people look at the past and pretend that it was better than it really was? Whatever that word is, that's what you're doing here. A simpler time? We're talking about the age of the Vietnam War, the Kent State shootings, people spitting on the drafted military forces coming back from war, drug use becoming even more rampant, etc. Not only that, but it wasn't all happy and upbeat. Eleanor Rigby, Ohio, Wooden Ships, etc. You're living in a dream world, pal.

  • @skelepieow Haters gonna hate

  • @alextheawsome Not hating at all, just saying that you are being overly nostalgic.

  • @alextheawsome Yeah, because it's not like one of Elvis Presley's hits was a song called In The Ghetto, about a boy growing up in the ghetto, turning to a life of crime, and then getting gunned down.

  • @cartoonist2000 good song

  • @alextheawsome Not really. Many songs were overly political, and some did talk about the ghetto. Like Love Child by the Supremes and In the Ghetto by Elvis. And the list goes on. I guess you can't please everyone. Because if a upbeat song like you described was released everyone will hate it, and say how music then was better because it talk about miserable things.

  • singing to the day... manifesting wonder along the way... let love shine #MaMo

  • May others plan their future,

    I'm busy lovin' you.

  • RIP Rob Grill. So sad to look at the young man in this video and to think he's gone now. Seems like yesterday.

  • @MrScalzo13 You Have!!! It's Jimmy Durrandy

  • 10 people can kiss my big white ass!!!

saw grassroots in concert at the wisconsin state fair BEST GODDAMNED CONCERT IVE EVER BEEN TO!!!!!!!!

  • @atp1962 That would be Warren Entner, and yes he is still alive. Last I heard Warren is, or has been, a manager of some heavy metal bands. (Rage Against the Machine & Quiet Riot are two that I know of.) I don't think he performs any more.

  • jimmy durante wow dont know much about the grass roots but i loved the song and jimmy durante then and i love the song and Jimmy Durante now>>

  • Rob Grill had passion and it showed in his music. he loved what he did. We lost him much to soon ! I know his hips hurt him, after all those surguries. I was wondering if his partner is still alive. he and Rob use to sound so much alike, it was hard to tell where one started and the other ended. I use to know his name. Does anyone 1 know his name and 2 if he is still alive

  • @LJH70122 Yes he was!! It was his favorite song that he sang back in the day, sure he had other reasons for listening to it. RIP

  • @LJH70122 I heard that from Tommy James on his website as well. How appopriate of a song for Mr. Grill. I will cherish the CD I have autographed by him.

  • One of my favorites in the day. RIP Rob Grill. :(

  • Rob Grill never stopped performing, carried on the Grass Roots great music to the end. This group was always WAY underrated. RIP Rob

  • @TheRandyradio Agreed! They were underrated. But they were always great to listen to. Thank you Rob for all you did while here on earth. He is with God's choir of excellent singers who are in heaven.

  • R.I.P Rob Gill! Long live rock.

  • They are all Baldwin Guitars -- No longer in existence --- and hard to find info on the internet.

  • R.I.P. Rob Grill

  • I don't see any microphones or cables coming out of their instruments. How exactly did they record this sound?

  • damn that was good!

  • creepy, but i like it

  • with the amount of people who were actually in this band it was inevitable that one of them would end up on the office lol

  • That wasn't a tape worm..

  • what kind of bass is that?

  • @Cidantis Paul McCartney bass, thats basically the name, or what its commonly referred to as.

  • @Classicrockismylife9 It's a Hofner violin-body bass.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @babymoondancer Not a Hofner, but an Italian made Eko bass - the guitar was an Eko too! Check it out on Google..

  • Comment removed

  • @ShapelyDice is not

  • Love that Rob Grill!

  • hey creed, what are you doing there? !

  • This is Great!

  • Do you have any idea how hard it is to play bass and sing?

  • I could be wrong, but I believe this was from ABC's counterpart to "The Ed Sullivan Show", which was "The Hollywood Palace". It was broadcast from the theatre that Jerry Lewis renovated with his own cash for his disasterous variety show back in '63. The program ran from '63-to-'70 and featured a round-robin selection of hosts, the most popular of which were Jimmy Durante and, until 1965, Dean Martin.

"Grass Roots"... wow! Listen to "Bella Linda" and tell me they weren't great!

  • the mic's hung down over them those days

  • @TheMaggiekay7 They're miming.

  • @TheMaggiekay7 but bass and guitars still needed to be plugged in

  • no chords, no amps, no mics, nice fade out at the end... interesting

  • Creed!! lol

  • "Two arms, two legs, two eyes, a mouth, a heart, two ears, and a penis. I have just described to you the Lochness monster. Upon it's capture you will receive all of the riches in Scotland. Now I ask you, Why are you still here?" -Creed Bratton

  • @NOLAdbagz Perfect

  • Creed is the best!

  • CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love the Grass Roots, one of the most underremembered classic rock bands.

  • creed looking creepy as hell @ 1:51 lol

  • gabe's father was on the drums.

  • Great song, but no way they are actually performing.

    - The guitar strum patterns are way off.

    - The sound of the guitar at 2:00 is acoustic, impossible with a Hofner/Eko-style solidbody.

    - No mics requires killer acoustics, impossible on a stage of this sort.

    - The drummer is playing as quietly as possible so he doesn't drown out the prerecorded track. He's the only one who can't unplug.

    - Amps? Cords? Wireless, yeah right.

So maybe Oldies > new stuff, but it's all manufactured.

  • @hitherescotty Duh. We all have eyes and ears man,,,,,lots of the tv performances in the 60's 70's on these types of shows were not live and dubbed. thats how it was I guess Take a look around youtube. Its not manufactured its still a damn good tune....live or not.

  • @hitherescotty Wow that is a great point, I didn't even think about all that stuff lol.

  • This song just kicked my ass

  • 1:54 - There's that Creed Look.

  • Creed!!

  • Such handsome men. I wonder what's become of them?

  • excelente ,musica oh my god

  • I'm not gonna say Oldies > new stuff. but this song is solid PWN

  • そうだ。今日を生きよう。

  • Rob Grill is soo HOT!! Loved them back then, still do !! What is hysterical is the audience for Jimmy Durante's show! Not exactly the Grass Roots type, LOL... More like an audience full of "my parents" of the day, probably thinking OMG, Hippies!!!

  • @pamcuny I don't know, I'd rather be a hippie in Woodstock naked, than even think of what would happen if they had Woodstock III par say.

  • @pamcuny Agreed!!! Who knew they would have been on Jimmy Durante's show!! No wonder I didn't see them that night!! I was upstairs playing my vinyl of this album till the grooves were worn out!!

  • This is the greatest song in the entire world.

  • I saw these guys live on July 4 here in Vegas

  • Creed is so adorable here - Rob of course, is gorgeous. They all look great. And what a band!

  • baby i got to feel you inside of me, deep inside of me.

what the hell kinda lyrics are these?

  • when i i was 21 my gal said plan 4 the future, i said live 4today! shes dead & im on utube! who won?

  • Creed is that much of a bad-ass!

  • ahhh when music was good

  • best part - 1.2.3.4...

  • Is Creed a badass? I think so

  • Creed Bratton guitar solo. (1:47)

  • groovy man groovy or gravy ha ha

  • yeah is the crazy guy off the office

  • February 8, 1943: Happy Birthday to Creed Bratton of the Grass Roots!!

He's also on The Office, but I rarely watch that show. ☺

  • I thought I knew everything about the sixties but this is new to me, it's a little gem.

The words in the chorus are so apt.

One ...Two... Three... Four... Sha La La La La La Live for today, it's brilliant.

I like the guitar and drums at 1:30...Fab Fab Fab song.

  • The best Grass Roots song ever.

  • 60's again passing to the left hand side? With my love beside me! What a trip it has been! Love & peace By the way this song is what we did! Ending in the mountains living and loving?

  • Of course it's overdubbed....and what a great job they did!

  • The singer was hot!

  • I didn't know they had wireless guitars back then!

  • @ryanbmx5 I think back in the 1960s TV variety shows, the bands either had to lip sync or sang live to a pre-recorded track due to sound quality not being as good as it is today.

  • @ryanbmx5 might be mouthing the words :)

  • lol Creed looks offscreen like the creeper he is!

  • sad how times makes people ugly they were good looking guys back then ...anyways great toon

  • Now THAT is good music

  • CREED!!!! great song!

  • ROB GRILL IS SO SEXY MAN HE IS HOT

  • 6 peoples gardner quit

  • Great song why can't music be Like that now subscribe to me and watch my video

  • Jimmy Durante, what a great, funny man he was. "Lady, that's no banana, that's m,y nose!"

  • @joshtbailey

in the old days they just got up there and lip synced and pretended to play while the song was played. they almost never did songs live

  • @madcowz2020 True, and when they finally did plug in a band on The Smother's Comedy Hour, it was The Who and they wrecked their equipment, blew up their amps onstage. Oh, those were the days!

  • This video is posted on Facebook page called "Golden Tunes - Sound of Oldies", so if you have fb account and some time, check it, i guess you will like it :) Page is for everyone who like like warm cozy sound of evergreen music.

  • What kind of guitar is the guy who is not Creed playing?

  • @toyonions33

    it looks like a Hofner.

  • @toyonions33 All three are playing Eko guitars. Popular in the 60's. I think the guy on the far left is playing a Eko Wildkat model. You don't see these around much. They were made in Italy and had serious neck problems. The Eko's were noted for their warm mellow sound.

  • They really were the whole package! Loved the music and the songs. They don't write songs like theirs anymore. I loved them all but Rob was my favorite. That voice and those looks could melt a girls heart! I've been a fan for 40t years and a love them just as much today as way back then. They bring back so many great memories, Thanks for posting, Rhonda

  • @ran6658 Help me, Rhonda! (Just had to write that).

  • Lovely Lads; Lovely lyrics; Lovely tunes...Thank you beautiful people...

  • THE MOMENT IS ALL ...LIFE IS TODAY;TOMORROW NEVER COMES... HERE AND NOW...

  • the audience looked a little old for this band. more like the lawrence welk bubble band types.

  • This very well could be the best song in histrory.

  • the best is the first 30 second of the song

  • @fattony638 Or maybe because the actual person has managed to have such an amazing and lengthy career and seems to be such a truly interesting guy . . . maybe that might have something to do with it.

  • like the chorus

  • Suddenly I'm back in my parents country home, 45 years ago, thanks for posting!

  • this song make me want to go back in time to woodstock and enjoy the best generation of music of all time

  • Great upload. This song was originally done by an English band, The Rokes, who lived in Italy in the 1960s (hence, they sang mostly in Italian. This one they did in both Italian, Piangi Con Me, and English). In the early 1980s it was covered by The Lords Of The New Church, the Goth-sort-of band that included members from some of the first Punk Rock bands (Stiv Bators from The Dead Boys, Brian James from The Damned, Dave Treganna from Sham 69, etc...). Thanks for the post

  • Creed from the office on lead!

  • You simply become mesmirised by the song, the voice and the eyes. Great lyrics, anyway, when the song is over, you forget where you are for a moment. Love it. Thanks!

  • "In the 60s, I made love to many, many women... Often outdoors, in the mud and the rain. And it's possible a man slipped in... wouldn't be no way of knowing."
