  • amazing...another worldwide recognition for the great minds in America. Kudos.

  • Bank Of America: Bank Of Jew Bags!

  • A good example for making green skyscrapers in the future

  • what is this song

  • @hollymint7895 I think it's stock music. you can find a bunch all over the web like AudioJungle is a good one.

  • Gee...where did the Bank of America get the money to do a seriously green building? Through massive mortgage fraud followed by government bailouts followed by foreclosing on houses? Maybe they should plan on putting a strong fence tooped with razor wire around their green building. A green fence of course!

  • Thanks Bank Of America! This is great!

  • Political/Environmental issues aside, I love this tower. It's the 2nd tallest building in NY (3rd tallest when 1 WTC tops out) and it fits in well with the nearby Times Square towers. It's tapering, torqued form is eye-catching and it sports a spire- a nice break from the typical, bland 'boxy' skyscrapers. Sadly, but understandably, security is tight at the building, and whenever I've visited I am not even permitted to approach the front door with a camera. The office views must be great!

  • this video is too short !

  • IT CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE BY STARDING A TREND. SUSTAINABILITY, I BELIEVE IS THE KEY TO TOMORROW'S ARCHITECTURE. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO.

  • so we all know that your building will conserve energy and water supply. but the question is HOW?

  • All these double-talks of "sustainable environment" is just pure garbage. It just a mindset to change your habits. Instead checking if the so called "green architecture" really help the corporation and the employees. All of these are just ways to reduced the costs of their expenses in a very low percents. The "sustainable environment" is just to make us cooperate with whoever these people advocating a horrendous solutions of the Earth. Let all the alternatives to be pursuit, and not certain ego.

  • skycraper ahahah craper :D hey wanna go sky crapping ?

  • i'd rather have them rebuild the twins. these ugly ass towers are going to ruin the skyline of NYC

  • @Indestructible229 Why? they're a 20th century design.

Don't get caught up in the past, these designs create a better working space with less resources required.

  • @Indestructible229 WHATEVER!. CITIES SKYLINES ALL OVER THE WORLD CHANGE ALL THE DAMN TIME, SO, MOVE THE FUCK ON.

  • China has a lot of these going up...there isn't enough resources to build enough of these....

  • Wow, really big! But do you know Germany´s no. 7 skyscraper, The Post Tower in Bonn? You´ll find it in my videos..

  • May be not

  • So, how is this building evoronmentally friendly?

  • Foolishness. This is not green by any stretch.

  • I saw that building being built while I was in NYC over the wknd, it's awesome!

  • Nice building.

  • Bah 1:01,... global temperatures rising,...global temps have been dropping since the 70's. More green bs brainwashing propaganda to make people pay more for things that are the same as they were, but are now called green.

  • I noted it was getting colder since early 01 I call it "Global Freezing."

  • @Xssam11 Call it carbon induced weather imbalence.

  • i'm in first year architecture and we've just started with a sustanability course. good job on the BoA

  • A very interesting video

  • It's not only green it's beautiful design!

  • this works

  • It's a fine job n all but where's the part explaining at least a teaser of what they're doing that's so green! I saw a couple of pot plants.... :-/

  • You self-serving hypocrite fiends with your so-called green toxic material built building. Think about the CO2 emissions, the materials used, the waste generated. Give me a fucking break, sustainable my ass.

  • Green is the way to go!

I made a video called "One World" that I hope will inspire many. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Just trying to make a difference...

  • It is fine to be economical and healthy, but do it for human beings. Do not spend a cent to 'save' the Earth from such fantasies as anthropogenic global warming. AGW is BS, promulgated by misanthropic Luddites to uninformed but caring lay-people.

  • Wow, love how this building gets a lot of hype b/c it's in NYC, as if no other city is doing this. Philly's Comcast Center is an LEED certified green building, and when Philly's American Commerce Center is completed it will be the tallest green building in the world at 1500 feet.

  • i like how the video said nothing about how the building is any different from any other. sure it'll reduce water and power consumption, be healthier, change the way buildings are made in the future, but nothing was actually said about how. guess i gotta watch the episode on... November 6? wtf, why post it in june!

  • todays green architecture is tomorrows sustainable society.......great video

  • New York is so great, I love that city.

  • lmao I love how everyone has no faith in the world, I see innovation in environmental technology everywhere. The stupid will no longer run the world, I happen to believe younger generations are infinitly smarter about the planet earth.

  • That's not true. We are just infinitely smarter....about EVERYTHING.

  • Ÿou can build all the enviromental friendly things you want, but that still doesn't change the fact that the planet Earth is only so big.

  • I'm surprised it's only 54 floors. Each floor much be pretty big.

  • I don't think everyone realizes 2012 is coming up. We should be getting prepared to fight the Covenant with Master Chief in finding Halo.

  • Either that or aliens warping in from planet Zen and rebelling against City 17's leader.

  • The architects, Cook + Fox, graduated from Carnegie Mellon University.

    GO TARTANS!

  • Pretty cool and all this was designed and nearly completed since 9/11...And we still have no memorial...

  • This video could have been a lot more interesting if it actually gave some examples of how it's sustainable, rather than it's one statistic about energy and water consumption. And I'd have to hope the people in the building would have a healthy environment and clean air to breathe, that's a given with any building that isn't handling deadly chemicals or positioned in the center of the earth. I hope the rest of the episode isn't so horrendously boring.

  • @spunkeh I didn't find it boring.

  • Beautiful building. About time we have more of this in Manhattan.

Just make sure airport security is doing its job.

  • talking about sustainable, skyscrapers should turn of their lights after midnight

  • @T1carus No. Skyscrapers are typically in use at night and we don't want anyone pludging into the ground. Get make them one LED light for those "Council room areas" use limited but enough power.

  • This seems more like a commercial advertisement than a documentary. No information value what so ever.

  • Green tomorrow will only be possible when all the oil is finised from earth..then only source will be wind, sun, tidal waves etc

  • The Green world is bad for the economy!

    No!

  • are you kidding you know how much money we will make off of solar power?

  • currently not as much as we can make off oil... for now... 2609237 is right... But it's already happening because we only have bout 50 - 100 years of oil left... Assuming OPEC hasn't been fudging it's numbers, which it so has...

  • @daymyth We have over 210 years of oil left with the Alberta Tar sands alone. -.-'

  • @SniperViper1000 Really? Isn't it really expensive to extract it? And whats the yield like?

  • The production costs are quite high you noob.

  • I like this vid! haha they should have this song standing by at every wedding just in case the groom backs down haha she really looks hot in the alley scene with the bangs and the butt shorts. that look just fits her.

  • i dont get it. why is THIS building more green than the others? poor video, all tease no info.

  • i cant listen to this stupid robot narator

  • stuart gaffin PHD ...thats PHDEEE motherfyuckers better luisten up!

  • Let's green up Burj Dubai, everyone!!!!! Question forNG: What's the green building called? Does it have a name?

  • I like the idea of a green building. First of all, such building will be made from recycled steel that is strong and wind-sustainable. Second of all, such building would save costs on expensive materials because it would use recycled material that is safe for humans, animals, and nature environment. Third of all such building would great impact on society and economy. People would then live closely to their work which will eventually save from them using or overusing carbon emitting cars.

  • winx

  • What's life-sustaining about phallic monuments to the misguided brilliance of the techno-human?

As long as you tout 'scraping' the atmosphere as 'progress' there's no hope. Only the cultural forms that are rooted in a reverence for all of creation will sustain humans on this planet.

"The greenest we can possibly build" ? Are you kidding? What planet are you on? Come visit one of the million aborigines who live with earth. Actually, leave us alone and kill your corporations. please.

  • That's all well and good, but what you speak of is not realistic. This is FAR better than the realistic alternative: continuing to build them as usual.

    Wouldn't you agree?

  • I'm not clear on what you disagree on as realistic. I myself was surprised to learn about aborigines. According to organization Cultural Survival (you can google their website, recommended), there are at least 3000 native nations in the world today who are trying to live traditionally despite western pressures.

I live in a stick frame house, but have enjoyed time in tipis, yurts, strawbale houses and even in a wigwam this past winter (I felt cozy and warm there). Cheers!

  • Yes, the aborigines are great. I met a few in australia a few years back.

But let's face it; do you really think everyone (or even a majority) in New York or London or Tokyo or Seoul would revert to an anarcho-primitivist state?

    No.

Not even here in sweden, so definitely not in america, britain, japan, korea, or anywhere else. This is what I mean: your desires are simply not realistic. So I say again, is this not an improvement?

Skyscrapers will be built anyway. Better green than not, no?

  • Tha'ts all well and good, but we can do the road warrior queef.

  • Currently the greenest way to live is in a city - a New Scientist acrticle recently confirmed that. If you are close to the products and services you require then you'll produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions. Also, large buildings retain heat much better than smaller buildings, as there is less surface area to lose it across. Admittedly there are greener ways to live (and work), but aboriginal people would need many times the land in order to make a living than we do currently. Think on it! :)

  • I agree - we'll use less energy if we meet our needs in our immediate locale. But what is a city? It consists of people so densely populated in a place that they require a routine import of food and other resources from other places. Contrasted to those who subsist off, and live with the land, I don't see how the city dwellers could some how be understood as more 'green.'

Big buildings have less surface area than small ones?

'making a living' is an industrial concern. Aborigines simply live.

  • people are lazy will use their car to go to the corner store. People are not ready to change their habits therefore proposing "there are greener ways to live (and work)," is something that cannot be obtained by everyone, id say less than 15% of the population is willing to change their habits int he good of thep lanet. Why would they change their habits? They'd lose money! NO WAY!

  • amen to that.

  • dead fuckin right

  • @peas1my1life I'm changing my habits.

I've already replaced all my halogen lights with LED ones.

35W per bulb down to 2.8W.

    That's only one thing.

I've always turned off things after using them as a rule, it's just the proper thing to do and I do it without thinking, it's not inconvenient at all.

P.S. Here in Britain we're recycling more and more, plus we can put all food waste into a green bit to be composted.

The only thing we don't recycle is certain types of plastic.

  • @peas1my1life not true, going green means saving green in the long run.

  • starthrowbanjo: i'm sure you're aware of the irony in using the internet to convey your message.

  • Greenest tower? I am surprised National Geographic say that.

Why not making a whole roof over the city and use skyscrapers as columns to hold it, when there have to be built so many. After building thousands of them then so what? The closer you build the boredom grows outer city.

Still in case of fire and/or emergency I want you to be up there with your daughter Anne... and still those drivers at one point of the day have to use the same narrow streets...

easy talks woman, easy for you to talk.

  • that kind of buildings has erased world landscapes!

  • []D [] []\/[] []D [] []\[]

  • that video was shite, told me nothing! Details please.

You could have written 'BoA builds a very green skyscraper' and it would have been just as informative.

  • how is it green??? they never said..

  • the building receives 50% of its power from the 3 wind turbines built into the centre of it.

  • bank of america is only turning green because they they are trying to cover up the red face they had when they had to back out of the yangt river project before they wound up with yellow n white egg all over their face!

    HA!

  • Not a verry informative video in anyways was it? No details or spesifics of any kind..

  • So the rich begin the part of separating themselves from environment... To be free to exploit "the masses" with no care for the environment.

  • so just rich ppl can save the planet owning a "green tech home"?? ... well, we´re 5,999,000,000 ppl destroying it, then how did "state" is going to do??

this is just "blah blah blah", we´re shi***** the planet and we can´t do nothing, grow up engineers, green peace and whatever!!

ps (im recycling and all possible things so you can say nothing, ok?)

    bye

  • ok nerd

  • Will this take a hit by a "plane" . Is it plane proof?

  • Scientists believe this building will not only be plane proof, but also exist in several planes of existence simultaneously allowing it to temporary phase in and out of our dimension. The upshot of which is that it can leave our dimension as the plane flies through and pop back as it passes by.

The disadvantage of a trans-dimensional building, of course, is that some employees make a trip to the coffee machine and are never heard from again, having being randomly phased into an alien dimension.

  • LMAO, best post ever.

  • Problem is, it doesn't have even to be a plane, but just a fire.

I wonder where all those architects and engineers live.

Probably in a villa by the coast.

This is what National Geographic should report.

I am surprised that National Geographic is sponsorising this mafiosi companies of construction. It's diseducational.

Without counting the thousands of 3rd world underpaid labour men who died not because of lack of health and safety rules, but because of the violation of them.

  • Nice.

  • Fascinating!

  • how is this green?? where the fuck are the trees lol, trees are green not buildings. stfu

  • 0:15

    "when it is fully operational..."

    it's a death-star!

  • wow this video totally sucks. i mean, they COULD have explained how this shit works...

  • we will be dea? cool i need a new job..

  • so this is where your tax dollars are going.

  • Verry Good!!!

  • man people did this chain shit in the 90's get over it

  • I BETTER HURRY!! ITS 8:43!!

  • "Today's green architecture is tomorrow's sustainable society"?

Oh yeah sure, we are certainly headed on the right path with that kind of rhetoric. NOT!

What's next for our "sustainable society": Population control? Forced sterilization and a 1 child policy? Banning of all automobiles? Compulsory "green" re-education? Global ban on nuclear energy and property rights?

Enough of this eco-fascism and religion!

  • How can you say that being sustainable is a bad thing? How can anyone think this?

Are you anti-sustainability? Should we just run our civilization into the ground by using up every last resource until everything collapses? What's so inherently wrong with conservation of resources?

  • @TheLibertyAvenger What the hell does being green have to do with a 1 child policy? That would be an economic disaster in the future, not one democratic congressmen has ever proposed that. " Banning of all automobiles?" WTF? What about Electric cars? Algae based fuel? Nuclear energy is considered green energy...

Property rights wtf?? And FYI Fascism is a right-wing ideology, not left wing, you moron...

  • UM, WHAT exactly did this video say?

  • i seen this on tv months ago, why is it featured today lol

  • ok completley ignore what i just said about money being green

  • just remember.....11 september... its stupid to build Skyscrapers

  • Boob......

  • are you fucking retarded? America had no defense system then, and we do now. and its not stupid at all to build a skyscraper the economy is in horrible conditions people need jobs more buildings more jobs. im guessing your a liberal who wants to continue to tax the wealthy for working hard and making money right?

  • i agree... but lets not pick on the obama supporters... its not their fault its the medias

  • Shut up and go beat a woman and steal their human rights.

  • You're a few decades late funny man/woman. This brand of "sarcasm" was almost witty or original in the 40's. Today, it's just really not edgy anymore, it's jumped off the edge years ago. Nice try though.

  • What?

Islamist guy says "Remember 9-11, it's stupid to make skyscrapers"

I tell him to go be an islamist elsewhere and do his crazy shit.

How is that an attempt to be edgy or have anything to do with the 40s? I wasn't kidding, I was just ridiculing the original comment which I was responding to.

  • who are you talking about in no part of my comment was there sarcasm.

  • I really think the tallest skyscraper competition between countries is like dick size competition between men. We all know chinese have small ones and are building many many huge skyscapers...

We need no big building in France and do not have... You know why... ;)

  • thats why african have a BIG foking dick but there isnt building, just little villages

  • Eiffel Tower

  • this building can move ,run change places today in New York next week you will see it in Philadelphia then New Jersey very impressive

  • Going green is going to be expensive to build. I wonder what kind of systems they invested in. Solar panels? some form of specialized HVAC?
