Love those through-the-wall shortcuts; I regularly use the one above the 1-up block. It was also pretty sweet seeing Bowser taken out with the Hammer Suit, as I've never had one that late in the game.

I beat it on the FAMICOM, which is much harder. No saving, no swimming under the world 8 ship, and you go from Raccoon Mario to small Mario when hit.

Why do the names of the 8 lands are changed as they were in Super mario all stars? all the worlds in the original 8 bit version are supposed to end in "land": grass land, dessert land, water land, etc.

actually. I tried this on my gameboy advance just now.. the only one I was able to pull off, was where the extra life is.. that wall glitch worked, the other ones I cant seem to get to work. Doesn't mean it's impossible on a gameboy advance though. On the wii, the old mario game, it's still possible to get to lvl -1

its not a glitch, the Hammer Suit is actually in the game. i think you first get it in the Ice World in one of the Toad's Houses

you're thinking of explosions, not fireballs. Fire, itself, isn't all that damaging if you figure in the exposure time that the enemies are getting. What hurts more, running you hand over a candle for a split second or getting a hammer thrown into your face? The power of explosions comes from the pressure they exert on you from displacing so many molecules so quickly. The fireball doesn't really explode.
