I thought this was a little like Mungo Jerry performing Status Quo....with a little skiffle thrown in...this is bloody hot...& no offense intended....got me dancing :--)
@MajorChaos69 It's basically the way I remember it from The Big Mess in N.O. We had anything from 2-6 singers so it'd come out according to who sang it first that day. Plus, I vary it myself - Bukka's version is more like the prison recording that Lomax made. BTW - BW spent time in the jailhouse and it messed him up quite a bit - according to a bio I read. I'll send you some lyrics
@slideharp1 Thanks, I would appreciate any lyrics you sent. The verse from yours I can't quite make out is, lay me down and pile it on with love .........man will ever know? I like your version a lot. Each time I listen to it I imagine it's a track from some Hollywood movie, maybe some type of romance/comedy something George Kluney would be in, it's a great song, has a lot of energy in it.
Hopefully you get discovered, as lots of people would enjoy your songs. When I googled you I was shocked to learn you are English lol you sound like you are from the south hill-billy USA :)
I've googled the lyrics for Bukka's version of Poor Boy that is on youtube, where he has his guitar on his lap and is using some kind of rod. In that version I can barely make out anything he says, but it has something about the Sun going down..... $200 dollar bill etc. . I can't find any lyrics with it
One of the great blues slide guitar songs, and here come you guys taking it in a totally new direction. Great to hear and stands beside Bukka White, Kottke, Fahey, Have always thought of it as a solo guitar piece. Now I know better.
@1969wasgreat ...Thanx for a GREAT compliment...Danny's using brushes for the 'train', with a rimshot for the Snap....was gonna overdub bass but figured....nah!
YES !!!
I've heard this tune in different "shapes and forms", but I think this one take the PRICE !
