  • so I heard that Apocalyptica played this hymn in the middle of their cover of Hall of the Mountain King. They must really love Estonia. <3 Who wouldn't?

  • @Vladdyboy Apocalyptica is from finland. Finnish and estonian anthems are similar

  • stand up, proud Estonians.

  • these guys helped us Iraq ba lot

  • Comment removed

  • WTF! this is the same melody as finlands!

  • @XxsiSux Some countries have the same melodies for their national anthems as others. Take the UK and Liechtenstein.

  • I didn't even know that Estonia has the same national anthem as we do :o The composer is Fredrik Pacius, a german composer who lived most of his life in Finland, and the piece (with lyrics by our national poet Runeberg) was performed for the very first time in 1848 near Helsinki. So people really can't argue that the song "was made famous" in Estonia..

  • Lovey Country

    Warm Regards from Ireland.

  • Greetings from Finland! Your anthem is cool, like ours but better lyrics I'd say. ;) Also gongratulations, you nearly made it to the EURO 2012! We're proud of you! :)

  • Such an sadly lost yesterday against Ireland

I have hoped for an Estonian participation in Poland and the Ukrain next year but now you need a miracle next tuesday. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Greets from Germany!!! Go Estonia Gooooo!!!!

  • "to be honest.. What are the "benefits" for Finland having Estonia in the EU? Drugs, whores, grey economy, robberies, drunkdrivers and a bad trafficculture in general. And a stolen national anthem. Let Russia take command in Estonia and close the borders.. We don´t need those parasites here."

  • @KingFrej You mad bro? Have we ever done anything to you? How do you know that the anthem is stolen from finland, maybe you stole it from us,there's a big difference between russia and Estonia, for example, without sweden, think what you would be.Getting beaten by a russian kid in a video game isn't a reason to insult Estonia, bob.

  • @KingFrej Well, this song was made famous in Estonia already in 1869 and it became so popular that no wonder that we adopted it as an anthem. Your grandparents should have complained about it before WW II. And are you really so naive that you think Russians wouldn't smuggle drugs into Finland anyway? Remember, it's not Estonian president, it's the Finnish president who thinks that visa free regime between the EU and Russia would be good (which is a very wrong idea, I guess).

  • @KingFrej And who are you quoting (since you put the comment in quote marks)?

  • finnish people are fucking stupids !! finnish peoples are so fucking retarded

  • @Kyuubi96 Are you sure you are not talking about you Estonians my friend? You would have hit the nail with your analyse.

  • @Kyuubi96 nice grammar ;)

  • @Kyuubi96 At least we defend ourselves... Hahahahaaaa!

  • @Kyuubi96 you are so pathetic. go back there on the streets to beg your bread and collect some bottles. your country is nothing but thiefs with HIV. but ok i understand that you are jealous, i would also be ashamed if i lived in some poor country where people doesn't know a shit about anything and live only by stealing

  • @AitoSuomalainen93

    you wrote:

"but ok i understand that you are jealous"

You understand nothing, you dumb cunt.

"i would also be ashamed if i lived in some poor country "

No you wouldn't you lying motherfucker.

"where people doesn't know a shit about anything "

You don't even know how to make the third person aux. verb in English, you stupid motherfucker.

You vile, dishonest, mealy mouthed cunt from Poland or similar, attempting to troll and getting pwned. Lol.

  • Lol soccer. Who gives a shit about 50kg faggots on shorts running after a ball? hahaha If qualifying to some shitty tournament is all you have, you have nothing to be proud of.

  • @ornoooo Figured that you would be another fucking finn. Go to your fucking anthem videos and rant there. Fucking leave us estonians alone. Bastards.

  • @Strongone112 Leave you Estonians alone? Huh. Maybe you didn't know but Finland is the Estonia's biggest trading partner. Without us Finns giving you food you would have to resort on cannibalism and without our mobile phones use smoke signals once again. And when I listen this anthem I hear the same melody as with Finland. Maybe you Estonians are looking for a nesx father figure after being taken care of these Russian life coaches. But it's ok since you have some Finno-Ugric traits left. Regards

  • @ornoooo Haha, you do know that you got occupied by the soviets too. Not for long but still. And we are balts, we got our language, culture, everything that we had back then. All that has changes, is maybe the food selection. Regards

  • @Strongone112 Wrong you midget. But you Slavs in disguise and the real ones - your papa Russians - ain't the sharpest knifes in the box. Slavs running countries is a mess. Don't you think? Your culture? If sucking cocks is that then congrats. Your language is butchered with loan words from German, Russian, Scandi languages. Your history fits in the post stamp. It started at 1992 when you man up and song yourselves free. Regards

  • @ornoooo Ime lahti

  • @ornoooo oh wait! You're the dude that was supposed to nuke me! Heck, im still alive! That's right!

  • No surprise that our national anthem is in Estonia because our wallets, cars and everything are there too...

  • @ornoooo hahhah niimpä :DDD

  • @ornoooo Pfahahaha you made me laugh so bad. Finland has nukes? of course! and dude im so scared! NOT.

  • @Strongone112 Well we have lots of nuclear waste. Looooootsssssss. The chamber were they are meant to put in sleep for the next 100 000 years is still under construction. We can of course use that shit for everything we want...

  • @ornoooo Like i care bout your nukes. you would never use them, especially on Estonia.

  • proud to be Estonian!

  • @1120110 why don´t you say: proud to be russkij

  • Long live Estonia, our neighbur!

    From Sweden!

  • Fredrik Pacius wrote the music for the FINNISH poem "Vårt Land" ("maamme") in 1848. You COULD have picked an other melody. No offense to the younger generations of Estonia, but your country has stolen History in the search of an own identity.

  • @AngryHumanoid MINGE VITTU SOOMLASED!

  • @AngryHumanoid omg lol sorry, hes retarded. but who cares if we have the same melody?? Estonia is Finlands little bro lol :P

  • @MinaOwninTeid ma sul teen retarded

  • Congrats Estonia for reaching the relegation game into the qualification for the next European Championships in soccer!!!

Great I hope you can reach the tournament you played a amazing qualification till now. Estonia is a beautiful country which deserves its first participation. Good luck from your friends in Germany

  • It has been 20 years! Good luck for Independent Estonia, greetings from your brother nation Finland, we have even almost same anthem, and it is good anthem!

  • Lol Estonian had no imagination so they had to steal this from Finland

  • @Darkkiis at the time, we made this our national anthem, we didn't know it was already chosen by finland. There was little time between those two decisions.

  • Im starting to notice some similarities in the finnish anthem.....

  • @TheChristisgreat Oh, yeah, I forgot, you are worse than shit, shit's useful as fertilizer.

  • @TheChristisgreat LMAO! what th are you talking about? ussr being best thing that has happened with Estonia? question: how th is something useful, that killed many innocent ppl, tried to exterminate our culture (talking only bout Estonia in here), our nation? answer: it CANT! ussr was piece of s..t, that occupied us for over half century, Estonia was one of most succsessful countries before ussr occupation!

  • I love it- and I love Estonia! love from Germany

  • I love Estonia. and those 34 dislikers are probably from Russia cause they're jeallous. >:)

  • The accent sounds just like Finnish imo.

  • THIS ANTHEM IS THE BEST I LOVE THIS ANTHEM AND ALSO I LOVE ESTONIAS NATIONAL ANTHEM AND I SAW THE WHOLE VIDEO OF ESTONIA ON THIS ESTONIAS NATIONAL ANTHEM SOUNDS LIKE FINLANDS NATIONAL ANTHEM ALSO ESTONIA HAS ALOT OF GREAT ANIMALS I LOVE THEIR WOLVES BIRDS AND FROGS THEY HAVE ALOT OF GREAT WILDLIFE AND I LOVE ESTONIA

  • This is Finlands national anthem :(

  • @Jiqinax Didn't you know that Estonia and Finland have the "same" anthem? Lots of people seem to have a problem with that; I can't imagine why. It's actually very nice because it stresses the connection between our people.

  • @Jiqinax Estonians had it first

  • Every little kid learns history at school, studying the history of our nation, but later forgets, how the entire history of Estonians consists only of the struggle for our existence, the struggle against our strong and big neighbors. No other nation's history is like this, no one has fought over so many generations and suffered so much as we, Estonians.

  • it is nice, but it reminds me on some classical music :))

  • Väga tähtis toiming: üles laadimine, sest kahjux väga paljud ei tea Hümni sõnu.

  • @CSSPROist1 vittu oot tyhmä

  • @CSSPROist1 Itse asiassa Virolla oli se ensin.. Viro otti tämän käyttöön 1869,Suomessa vasta 1900-luvun alussa../ Actually Estonia had it first..Estonia started using this anthem in 1869 in Finland only in the beginning of the 20th century..

  • LISTEN NATIONAL ANTHEM OF FINLAND! ESTONIA IMITIATED IT FROM FINNS!

  • @jimimiksu No shit?

  • @jimimiksu actually we didnt. you see, if you would have learned history, you would see, that Estonia and Finland actually confirmed their national anthems almost same time, so its pure coincidence. true, music is written by a finn

  • long live estoniaaa¡¡¡¡ :D greetings from catalonia, another country that is striving for independence.

    Visca Estònia¡¡¡¡

    Visca Catalunya Lliure¡¡¡ :D

  • KUI KAUNIS OLED SAA!

  • Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :DD

  • im one of those estonians who thinks, that instead of"mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm" we should have "mu isamaa on minu arm" as our national anthem, because when look at people's faces at the song festivals, you realise, how much this song moves us. "mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm" isn't so close to our heart, it's somehow too happy and enthusiastic. i think, to describe the struggles for freedom and all the ups and downs in the history of our nation, "mu isamaa on minu arm" is the best possible anthem!

  • @t2rnus what means mu õnn ja rõõm?

  • @oi565 it means "my fatherland, my happiness and joy" or something like that ;)

  • @oi565 my luck and joy

  • @oi565 My luck and happiness.

  • By the way the welfare state model of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Finland is based on Socialism. The politics, health care, education etc. of these countries are based on equality between all people and that derives from Socialism. These countries are good examples of implementing leftist ideals in Germanic/Nordic nations and the result is completely different than it was in Russia or Estonia. It´s about the people, not political ideologies.

  • @Adinax86 Yes but its not pure socialism, and a long way from the communist basis of the USSR. So ideologies do come into it. In Finland's case this is largely because it was a province of Sweden for much of its history. There are some things that certain countries/cultures do well and others they do very poorly. Governing its people is a good example of the latter case when it comes to Russia, and since the USSR was wholly centralized in Moscow it's not surprising that Estonia was such a mess.

  • @whyteay Finland was long time part of Russia too! probably longer that Estonia!

  • Happy independence day Estonia! Greetings from Finland!

  • @mizge Eiks oo ovelan kuulost ;)

  • Things were definately much better in Western and Northern Europe before borders were opened. Unemployment rates in these countries were very low, only 3% in Finland. Now that cheap work force has arrived from Slavic and Baltic countries, unemployment rates are high and generally things are miserable compared to 80´s. It was better when Russia was just an exotic travel destination and instead of hookers and drugs matushka dolls were imported from there.

  • @Adinax86 the spelling is 'definitely' and 'Matroyshka' you fucking retard.

  • Opening the borders hasn´t really improved the situation in post-Soviet countries. The birth rates have rapidly rallen as have population rates as there is no immigration. Despite EU aid those states are still miserable and poor and little kids in them are being brainwashed into thinking it´s all because of Communism 20 years ago.

  • Eestlased olgu tugevaim rahavas maakeral,on uhke olla eestlane!

  • Start respecting your OWN culture, your OWN history, your OWN heritage and then maybe people respect you a little more. I like Latvians and Lithuanians more, at least they have some respect. Despite the fact that they have more Uralic genes than Estonians and thus are related to East Finns, they don´t go around everywhere saying they´re like Finns like Estonians do.

  • @Adinax86

Estonians have a great love for all those things and it shows your cluelessness to all things about Estonian culture. Estonians don't TRY to have similarities to Nordic culture -- THEY JUST DO after to 500 years of German/Nordic rule, and its regardless of their ethnicity. Do you really think that genes dictate culture? Do you also really think that an entire ethnic group possesses the same mind?

Repeat: Why do you hate the "filthy" Slavs/Balts so much?!

  • @jreb01 Slavs and Germanic people are completely different. They are different in the way they look, in the way they act and intellectually. I can remember when I was a child and there was still Cold War and borders were closed. It was much better than the situation is now that Slavs and Balts keep flooding in from their countries to wealthy Western European states. They seem unable to create sustainable wealth and success in their own countries.

  • @Adinax86

Estonia had a higher GDP per capita than Finland before WWII. It has had a higher annual GDP growth rate than any other country in the EU over the past ten years (even after the massive contraction due to the recession). Its GINI coeffifient is average for the standards of Western Europe, the UN lists it as a developed country, the State of World Liberty Index lists it as the freest country. Give the country a break, it clearly has been improving since being freed form the USSR.

  • @jreb01 Again you show your ignorance. Estonia received 4,5 BILLION worth of yearly aid from EU and plenty of charity investments and loans. That´s what their "growth" is based on, charity. And Estonia is still one of the poorest (might actually be THE poorest or is competing of that position with some other poor Slavic/Baltic country) country in EU. Germans rebuilt their country literally from ruins culturally, economically, politically and otherwise after WW2 in just a few years.

  • Comment removed

  • @Adinax86

I love the irony of calling me ignorant as you know nothing about how the EU operates. Estonia is receiving 4.5 billion from the EU budget while Finland is receiving 9 billion worth of "aid" (and its not yearly). The Estonian economy is also 9 times bigger than it was 20 years ago, far exceeding the expansion Finland had reached 20 years after WWII. Estonia is also far from being the poorest of your "inferior" nations and has come very far as seen in my last comment.

  • @jreb01 Finland does not receive other significant aid than that for farmers. I did not even count that into the 4,5 billion aid for Estonians. In addition Estonians receive loans from EU that Finland does not get and Finland certainly does not get charity investments that Estonia gets. When Finns build something, they pay it themselves and don´t expect other EU countries to pay for it. Who cares how much bigger Estonian economy is since it´s based on CHARITY and AID for the most part.

  • @Adinax86 If this is so, since you're a fascist or socialist you should be lauding that.

  • @jreb01 There are not many EU nations (if any) that have lower GDP´s than Estonia. Only some of the Balkan countries might have and that´s it. It is among the poorest EU nations despite of vast amounts of EU aid. I´m done talking to you. When you actually KNOW something, then come back and talk.

  • @Adinax86 Yes, and there are not many EU nations (if any) that have such a small population as Estonia nor lack of natural resources. So of course its GDP is going to be small in a union which includes the likes of Germany, UK etc. If you mean per CAPITA, i.e. per head, it's higher than the other 2 baltic states.

  • @Adinax86

Wow, so you are finally done with this ignorant slander. I suppose it's because you are not creative enough to come up with anymore completely made up economic facts and you know that doing so will make you look foolish again when I respond. In any case, if you do respond to me again, I just want the evidence for how Estonian economic growth has been dominated by charity...good luck with that....Again, the evidence is all I want, don't go making up more "facts".

  • @jreb01 Looks like it! Well, wearing his little learning like the proverbial leaden cope was always going to get tiring in the end. That's the problem with fascism, it runs out of steam very quickly when faced with rational argument, thus resorting to emotional lashing out and ulitmately violence!

  • @jreb01 And Finland also sustained wealth rapidly after adopting the welfare state model of Sweden in 1960´s. It didn´t take Germany or Finland 20 years to become wealthy and successful. Of course idiots will claim even after, perhaps 50 or 100 years after Communism, that Communism is the sole cause for failure in post-Soviet states like some people claim man-made climate change is reality. But one day liars and dumb people who believe them will have to admit the truth.

  • @Adinax86 The German economic miracle happened in WEST Germany, with a lot of Marshall plan aid. Compare it with the east (which was also run by Germans) even today and you get the picture. 4-6 years of war devastation as in the case of W. Germany, Finland or Japan are not the same as 4-6 years of war devastation followed by 45 years of socialist utter mismanagement.

  • @whyteay Good that you point out East Germany. Cause they had Communism too and now 20 years after Communism they are doing MUCH MUCH better than you Estonians (or maybe you´re a Briton living in Estonia but anyways). That just proves my point. Something else than just Communism is the problem of Estonia. That is the same laziness and immorality that plagues all Slavic and Baltic nations is the true cause.

  • ...oversimplification and typical of fascist thinking (and socialist somewhat too, same thing anyway). And yes, I am a Briton living here, we already established that some time ago.

  • @Adinax86 If they're doing better it's thanks to the West (Germany), which they dragged down slightly in the process; Estonia has had no equivalent state to drag it out of the mire, to the same extent anyway. It does not prove any point at all. It's true, there is an element here which has hampered Estonia's development somewhat (but not prevented it). However, just to say that this is due to 'all' Estonians (who are neither balts nor slavs) or even 'all' Russians, is a gross.....

  • @Adinax86 Also, having lived in Lithuania for about 2 years, Riga for 6 months, Tallinn for about 2 yrs and obv. I get to visit Helsinki (but having no strong link with any of those places) I can tell you that the situation in Estonia is noticeably better than any baltic state beginning with 'L'. You live in some one horse town somewhere so I'm not sure you can really comment on that. Also it refutes your 'Lith/Latvians have more uralic genes' argument (I'd read this somewhere myself too).

  • @jreb01 20 years after Communism I´ve come to the conclusion that something else than Communism is the reason for the decadence, demoralization and poverty in Slavic countries. The immorality and laziness of Slavic people is ultimately at blame, not Communism. While I appreciate Slavic and Baltic cultures, I believe those states should be kept completely separate from Western and Northern European countries and people here should only visit those countries as tourists like they did in 80´s.

  • @Adinax86 Yeah, you've already said that, you dull fuck. Well, one thing to be said for the continuation of the iron curtain is it would have kept the likes of you away from speaking on issues about which you know nothing, since you would have been living behind it anyways...

  • @Adinax86 ...next time I see a paralytic Finn staggering into the private courtyard of some private property in Tallinn old town where he/she has no business being (ie the next time I go into Tallinn old town probably), I'll remember the extent to which they share this 'immorality and laziness' of which you keep farting on about. You repugnant little turd.

  • @jreb01 Yes, and leaving aside this Finnish/Estonian question for a moment, taken his argument to its logical conclusion, it would mean that the likes of Shostakovich or Tolstoy were 'filthy', whereas genuinely filthy looking Finns you can see sliming around Tallinn in droves (by the way that's only a small minority of people, most of the Finns are decent people, there's just a few turds in the punchbowl as we know) are somehow superior to that. Noone in their right mind believes that.

  • @whyteay The worst hillbillies travel to your country. But that says a lot about your country too, it attracts that kind of people, who like visiting a centre of immorality like Tallinn. Oh and I didn´t say everything about Slavic countries is worthless, what I said is opening the borders is destroying all these countries.

  • @Adinax86 No some decent Finns come here too in fact, I know more than a few of them and they would/have already confirm(ed) that 1) you are not Finnish and 2) you are a little scrotal-sac who think he can appear clever by writing horse shit on you tube instead of coming out in public and stating what you think. Fail again.

  • This is why I can´t stand Estonians. They live in a fictional fantasy-World where they are like Finns and Swedes, when they´re really like their Lithuanian and Latvian brothers. They try to deny their true Baltic identity and hander Finns and plagiarize everything from Finns. They don´t even have their own culture, they just try to be like Germans, Americans, Finns and Swedes. Could they possibly be any more annoying?

  • Estonians (Estonian: eestlased, previously maarahvas) are a Finnic people closely related to the Finns and inhabiting, primarily, the country of Estonia. The Estonians speak a Finno-Ugric language, known as Estonian. Although Estonia is traditionally grouped as one of the Baltic countries, Estonians are linguistically and ethnically unrelated to the Baltic peoples of Latvia and Lithuania.

  • @KristjanSuper "Polish Genetics & Anthropology points out that the Estonian Genetics Project is reporting:

The more than 25,000 blood samples collected already make it possible to conduct various background studies. For example, comparing the genetic data of Estonians with other European nations has revealed that Latvians, Lithuanians, Poles and some Russians are genetically much more similar to Estonians than the Finns with whom Estonians share a similar language."

  • @KristjanSuper So completely unrelated to Baltic peoples and closely related to Finns? What a fucking joke!

  • @Adinax86 Go for it, KristjanSuper, let's rile this clueless fucktard up (who isn't even remotely Finnish anyway) once and for all, then he might refrain from boring the rest of the world rigid.....twat.

  • @Adinax86

omg. you are the biggest idiot i have ever seen. The easy way to resolve this problem is going to wikipedia and type in "Estonians" It will answer all your stupid questions.

Yes there are Russians in Estonia, but they all got here after WW2.And no we did not asked them to come here.

  • @KristjanSuper

    Kristjan,

check out the Tartu University article "Genetic Structure of Europeans: A View from the North–East". It shows that Estonians do have a strong genentic link to the other baltic countries (especially Latvia). However, unlike what the ignorant guy says, It is clear that many subsets of the Estonian population overlap with, or fall in between the genetic structure of Northern Germans, Swedes, and Finns.

  • @jreb01 Estonians are mostly R1a (Slavic) and N1C1 (Uralic/Asian). All reseraches show that. Just like Latvians and Lithuanians, they are intermediates of Slavs and Uralic people. When Swedes are 40% I1 and 20% R1b, Estonians have over 30% R1a and 30% N1C1. And the small amounts of I1 that they have is not Norse but Anglo-Saxon, Dinaric etc. What´s the point of "trying to disprove me" when you can´t deny the facts!

  • @Adinax86

I already have disproved you because you have stated that Estonians share NO ancestry with Finland, Sweden, or Germany. Just check out the "Genetic Structure of Europeans: A View from the North–East" article that you love to reference so much, or look at historical records to see that thousands of Estonians have Swedish or German last names. Anyways, since you have lied once then nothing you say really matters and your ignorance is proven.

  • @jreb01 Many Estonians have renamed themselves at some point. An Estonian with a Swedish or German name most often has no Swedish or German ancestry. They name their kids ´Magnus´ etc. just because they admire Swedes and other Germanic people so much. They hate their own Baltic heritage. The only people related to Swedes in Estonia were those who were part of the small Swedish-speaking minority but most of them have relocated to Sweden.

  • @Adinax86 I've never once met, read about or seen an Estonian called 'Magnus' you utter tosser. YOU HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT, ASSHOLE.

  • @jreb01 All Slavic and Baltic nations have some Germanic and Nordic genes and all Germanic and Nordic nations have some Slavic genes. However Estonians don´t have more Germanic or Nordic genes than their neighboring peoples, Latvians and Lithuanians. There is no real connection to Sweden, Germany or Finland other than their wish
