@Nativegirl1985 We need to live with the Great Spirit every moment so that we become the Great Spirit (a God) ourselves. What a shame we lost it, I'm crying while Im typing this.
We still have time to Awaken, just open your heart so that it can see and hear what the Great Spirit is saying to us all .
We have all lost our culture, even the white man use to live in tribes long ago. We need to go back to the land with no cars, no white man houses or any materialistic man made things, Now that would be called living traditionally, like I said...we are all lost it, we are all white men, we are all watching white man t.v. and living the white man way. We Are All Living A Lie. We honour the Great Spirit when we go to pow wows or when we want help. We should honour everyday all day long.
noticed that native's arent drunk's white ppl get drunk all the time they turn into sluts or durty ppl and they get raped they mess up there life and get addicted to drugs and end up pregnat soo the need to think and stand up and say im sorry i was wrong i was being stupid and not thinking
But white peopla are savages too since they commited "Human Sacrifice" in Norway in the Name of Christianity. I saw those the picture of the blonde bomber and the boodsoaked blonde people.
some white people are assholes they think we're all dunks! i mean come on we all have problems just like everyone else im just a native from arizona and already a bitch from mesa thinks i'm mexican!
@brendapeaches123 wow! ikr at my school they had this book that had a white boy that told a native american to get on his knees and called him a brown savage my mom got soo pissed
The English language needs to find another word to replace "racism." I see this because genetic scientist have proven that "there is no such thing as a race" since we come from one tribe in Africa so long ago. Blood samples collected from all over the world tells us this.
What we have here is one race with very minor genetic differences that make up our outward features. Anyway, it's just a part of one race putting down another part of the same race. We definitely need a new accurate word.
try experiencing racism from your own people cuz you're mixed. I did. I'm 1/2 Native and half white. I've seen racism from BOTH sides. I look 'white' my own people, but to whites I look 'Latina' I am full NATIVE in my heart and to me that's what counts.
@Nativegirl1985 Same here. I'm white and Native American and was raised as small child in Native way though my parents do not have tribal membership because my grandparents were too ashamed to admit they were Native. Whites have never accepted me and I get mistaken for being Latino or Middle Eastern, yet Natives do not acknowledge me as Native. Natives are just as racist against their own people so look in the mirror before you claim whites are only racists.
@Nativegirl1985 OMG me two, but people say i looked mixed with black and or cuban, GOD KNOWS i now how it feels, you would rather be insulted for what u are any day than for something that you are not...Stay strong, Your know what you are.
Lol, where do you experience this kind of racism? Come back to Georgia, I think it'd be kick ass cool to have more Indians around here. The fact is, idiots are everywhere. Hang out with more intelligent people, computer geeks, we're not down with stupid shit. But yeah, you just have to toughen up, and not be so sensitive, people are mean no matter who or where they are. In competitions like basketball games, if people talk smack talk to you, talk smack back to them. Its play war.
@cobrachoppergirl Technically much of Georgia still belongs to the Cherokee people, their lands seized under the Indian Removal Act was illegal. That law was unconstitutional and even the SCOTUS ruled that in Worcester vs Georgia 1832. Any treaty the US had recognizing Cherokee sovereignty is protected by Article VI paragraph two of the US Constitution. What Andrew Jackson and his Georgia buddies did was criminal.
Whites are so terrible that everyone south of the boarder is dying to get to the USA! That is a great contradiction. Another, is the fact that the US immigration allows ONE MILLION people in per year- MOST are NOT white, and MOST are Mexican. This is very bad for America because the statistics are that more than 50 percent do not finish high school, they are the largest population of law breakers, and they have more kids than they can feed. JUST FACTS! On the other hand, some of them are great
By the way ... I have seen this same attitiude toward gays. Hate is wrong no matter what it is about or who it is towards. Fear causes hate and racism. Ignorance is dangerous. Fear, hate and ignorance together can be hurtful even deadly. Please chose who you become carefully. It effects us all. Anger feeds hate.
Be careful of reverse racism. I am from a federally recognized tribe in Tobique Canada and I am light skinned because my dad is Maliseet and my mom is Irish (who btw are also traditionally TRIBAL people) and I get prejudice from both sides. I look too native to be white and too white to be Indian. I have been treated bad by elders and cousins on both sides of my own family. If you love our culture than FOLLOW our culture and honor all FOUR colors of man. You forget who we are when u forget this
@Sagatiaej It is sad to hear that you have experienced this from both sides of the family. You should be very proud of your DNA from two GREAT ancient people. A very potent mixture. Magnificent !!!!
im half native american and half mexican and the white people are so racist with native americans, they should remember who are the true owners of all usa land: mexicans and native americans,
@mellyvel1 I don't think you should be so quick to claim equal property rights for Mexicans with those of the Native Americans. I know that Mexicans would like to invade both American and Native American lands. I don't think that Native Americans would you taking ownership of the rez either. Mexico has vast resources and a very intelligent and creative population, you should develop your own country. If would do so, learning from all the mistakes of the USA, you would be greater than the USA.
@Bently100 WRONG half of the usa land was MEXICO & the native americans were MEXICANS too,& mexicans are not like white people we not invade lands that its not ours, so its not our fault that the white people dont want to accept that, thats the truth and white people still claiming that its their land when they invaded our lands, killed our people, and they tell to mexicans as same to native americans that we are the inmigrants when thats not true they are the inmigrants.
@mellyvel1 I do see your point, but your starting point for the argument is with the European invasion. This is only part of the story. What ever land was carved out by a particular tribe was taken from another tribe in war. A war was already going, and the Europeans joined in the war, and won. They had the same rights to it as the previous owners who did the same to someone else. Those were the times. I ask again, do the Native Americans want to share their rez with Mexicans- no they don't.
@Bently100 before the white people came to the americas there wasnt any war between any tribes, & white people came doing wars, dont say things that are not true, you dont know what native americans will say about the mexicans, but i do, i lived with them i know them so im pretty sure that they are willing to share with mexicans than with white people, they are free in mexico, there is no racism to native americans because every mexican is indian same as us we prefer mexicans & we support them.
@mellyvel1 I am sorry, but you must not know very much about history. The only reason that the Europeans were helped by the "Indians" was that the NA's wanted them as allies against other tribes with whom they were at war. To say that Indians tribes did not fight to the death over territory any many other things is to ignore everything which is known about them and 10 thousand years of human history. You subscribe to the notion that The Americas were Eden until the evil whites came.Silly idea.
@mellyvel1 If illegal Mexicans were welcome on the reservations, they would be full of them. It would be well known that reservations were a place of sanctuary for illegals but they are not.
@Bently100 & that doesnt mean that we are racist like you, every white & black person know that we prefer mexicans cuz they have the same blood as us, our people were good friends of the aztec empire, and yes there is mexicans in reservations, cuz you dont live in a reservation that doesnt mean that there is no mexicans in, there is alot of native americans that prefer to go to mexico and live there cuz we are free there, there is no racism, if u dont know so dont say things that r not true..
@mellyvel1 BE careful with your accusations, they just make you look stupid. You are totally confused about the development of the Americas. There were invasions from all coroners of it by different peoples, and they did fight over territory-they were NOT "good friends". There are all kinds of mixed races on reservations, just not illegals.I have Mexicans and NA's in my own family, but they are not illegals. No one wants to live in Mexico, they are dying to leave. They want European modernity.
@Bently100 dat funny i see dat u dont know about my people unless my history, yes they were good FRIENDS its not our fault dat the people like u dont want to accept it, but what only matter its what my people know & what they know is true & well those mexicans dat u said dats the kind of mexicans dat r so ignorant, & MEXICO has a beautiful culture, freedom, ur wrong there is alot people dat prefer MEXICO than usa d white people r inmigrants in this continent & what all they said is so wrong.
@mellyvel1 OK, I take you at your word. Mexico is wonderful, so all illegals should be happy to go back to Mexico. I hope all those who are hear legally will stay and become American.
@Bently100 why??? if its their land not yours so they have the right to stay in their land, but well im losing my time with you, u just want to believe what u goverment says, u dont want to hear or to accept other opinions.........
I am surprised to about racism against Native Americans. I never saw it in my entire life in the USA.I am not saying that is not so, I just wonder what states have this attitude (north? west?). I know that in the south, for the last 60 years I know of, people always bragged that they had some NA heritage, they clung to it with great pride, people who were otherwise totally white identified. I never IN MY LIFE heard anyone speak ill of NA's in the South-except on TV westerns.
In ME and in Canada I have experienced this racism, in southern states as well. If you are not Native you will most likely not see it. Men wont see how other men behave towards women in the subways at night. I was 17 yrs old when I left. walked across coutry & back & in the big cities this happened to the women. Perverts in the subways. I went to a coffee house & my friend Ashley & i tried to tell our guy friend & he didnt believe us. I snapped & said "That's because they dont do it to YOU!"
@Sagatiaej You are describing what many women of all races might experience (some men too!). This is not a racial thing. Its just creeps that exist among humans.
as a white with no knowledge of his origins...I know i need to learn of the origins of the land. WHAT CAN I DO?!?!? WHERE CAN I GO?!?!? WHERE WILL I BE ACCEPTED? I learn skills without the need for modern technologies. you deserve to have respect, to have your culture returned TO HAVE THE LAND RETURNED. My land is stolen- i do not want it, but i would be lying if I said that I dont want 'primitive' knowledge. no not knowledge- WISDOM! please, if you can hear me, respond to the lost ones. we hurt
The next day, the Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony declared : "A day of Thanksgiving, thanking God that they had eliminated over 700 men, women and children. For the next 100 years, every "Thanksgiving Day" ordained by a Governor or President was to honor that victory, thanking God that the battle had been won. AIM - American Indian Movement Grand Governing Council in Minnesota. "Lest We Forget"
ORIGINS OF THANKSGIVING The year was 1637.....700 men, women and children of the Pequot Tribe, gathered for their "Annual Green Corn Dance" in the area that is now known as Groton, Conn. While they were gathered in this place of meeting, they were surrounded and attacked by mercernaries of the English and Dutch. The Indians were ordered from the building and as they came forth, they were shot down. The rest were burned alive in the building.
@Omnicron777 Thats what white people like to tell themselves so they can feel better about the horrible things they have done to the Indiginous peoples of what is now north and south America and Mexico. There is Evidence to prove there were humans living in other parts of the world that date as far back and further than the first human remains found in Africa.
White people go around spewing their hate to this day. My son was harrassed at school everyday untill he finally decided enough was enough and beat the crap out ot the two boys who were spewing racist remarks about him being Native American. Of course I did not agree with his actions but at the same time, what was he to do. I am sick of you self rightous white people who think your culture and your ways are better than that of other peoples.
Compare the 1555 famine in England to the "Three Sisters" method of crop rotation by Native Americans:
In Three Sisters agriculture, corn, beans and squash were grown in the same area to enhance plant growth. Bean vines grew on the corn stalks and increased the soil's nitrogen. The squash decreased the amount of weeds with its extensive ground cover. It is estimated that growing these three crops together increased crop productivity by 30 percent or more.
For the record, I'm not Native American, but Native Americans epitomize the meaning of survival and strength. What is sad is how so many misguided soles who, within the same breath, ask Native Americans to stop whining about so-called, non-existent racism while spewing out passive aggressive racial epithet.
Scratch the surface and the racism emerges.
So what it going to be racist? Will you stop the marginalizing of non-Whites, or admit that racism never went away... it just went underground?
You appear to read things in my posts which aren't there. Is there anywhere in my posts that I said racism was non-existent?
Going on some mess of shit about "genocide" and trying to continuously rehash a 500 year old completely unremarkable event in Earth history, is whining. It's pointless complaining. It's not productive.
Combatting racism isn't about making other people nice so your whittile feeling don't get hurt. It has one legitimate goal: ending discrimination
@Gulfporter Stop your moaning man-child. You plopped your pasty fat ass on this video to could complain about Native Americans' legitimate right to free speech. No one put a gun your head and made you watch the video or read the comments. You're looking for a reason to assert some sort of white superiority because you're a malcontent. Your piece of the American dream is dwindling and it's scaring you. Now it's become obvious that you don't even have the intellectual acumen to debate the issues.
@Gulfporter Uh, how about... WRONG! You're a sad malcontent, who relies on his prejudices to develop his conclusions. Such a narrow swath of experience you have.
You can't discuss the issues because you lack the knowledge base, and the rigorous academic background to discover the truth.
You're intellectually out of your league... save yourself some embarrassment and move on while you have a sliver of your self-esteem remaining.
@Gulfporter If you mean I write with scholarly purpose, pristine syntax, and an erudite lexicon, then I'll accept the compliment. Pretty good writers, those Jewish fellows :)
You've been schooled. Like I said, move on, while there's still time :)
@Gulfporter Unlike you, I'm not interested in poisoning my opinion of my Jewish brothers and sisters with Nazi propaganda. I'm pretty sure you have that hate thing covered for at least 100 other Americans. :)
@Gulfporter You said: "Anyone who would call you a spear chucker because you're an Indian is an idiot. A spear chucker is a negro."
You're pathetic. Yes your piece of the American dream is slip, slip, slippin' away :) How's that career at the Walmart working out for you? Btw, there's a mess on aisle 5. Whatcha waitin' for, hop to it!
It must hurt your ego to know that the preeminent neurosurgeon in America, Dr Ben Carter, is an African American!
Never met him, hopefully never will. And it doesn't change the fact that a "spear chucker" is a negro, and it's unlikely that anyone called an American Indian a spear chucker.
"How's that career at the Walmart working out for you?"
Odd, how someone purporting to school me in respectful language is making fun of the paid work of some 60,000 or more Americans. Mocking Walmart is one thing, mocking workers is another. Good job at showing us how superior you are. We are so fucking impressed by you.
@Gulfporter You're only impressed because you were raised by a banana and a chicken-wire shock monkey.
Now what is interesting is the you way you refer to yourself as "we"... i.e., "We are so fucking impressed..." So are you part of a consortium of morons gathered around your keyboard? Or, are you so delusional as to think anyone but me is reading your sad posts and jumping on you weak sauce bandwagon? Or alternatively, is this just a classic case of dissociative identity disorder?
Sorry, I stopped watch because this was coming off as a crock of shit. It hasn't been that long since I was in elementary school. We weren't taught anything negative about the Indians, and there is plenty that you might consider negative which is also true. We actually thought quite highly of Indians. These sound like retarded kids who were surveyed. Rural schools in Virginia, teach history in a very matter of fact way. When we played cowboys and Indians, we always wanted to be the Indian.
@Gulfporter Your life experiences may not have exposed you to the injustices NAs have experienced. Public schools have done little to tell the complete and accurate story of Native American genocide. What can you tell me, without having to Google it, about Tecumseh, Wounded Knee, or Sand Creek?
Incidents of racism against NAs are still common. To listen to a more serious incident, Google "This American Life" and "High Speed Chase" But if you'd prefer to live in self-deception, have at it.
Public schools probably aren't going to tell the "complete and accurate" history to your satisfaction, especially if you like to use the word "genocide". You want candid? Here's candid:
In less merciful times, the technologically advanced people Eurasia returned to the isolated Americas where they quickly conquered, displaced, or assimilated the more primitive segment of human civilization. The Stone Age ended in the Americas in 1492.
@Gulfporter Thank you for revealing your true colors. I have no problems with you being a racist. I welcome it. Just don't present yourself as being objective in the process. And don't claim you view Native Americans in a positive light and in the very next post call them primitives. There's only one reason the Europeans were successful in the conquest of the Americas: smallpox
And yes, genocide is apropos. And you led me to believe you had a top notch education. A lying white man, how novel.
See, that's the effect of political correctness on you; a concise and accurate word for a society's relative position is not objective in your book. No, if you were being objective, then you would be able to handle a frank discussion of history. Guess what? When the Romans conquered my people, we were more primitive than they were. See? It's painless.
Just out of curiosity, is Ben Nighthorse Campbell victim or oppressor in your orthodoxy?
@Gulfporter Reality just called, it wants you to check-in. Marginalizes Native Americans by calling them "primatives" and whiners would by definition be racism. Albeit, mild racism. It's not the language of an enlightened individual who hold Native Americans in high esteem. If you're unable to self-reflect, this conversation is not going very far. Self-reflection and an ability to be self-critical is an activity of advanced thinkers. I suggest you look into it.
Actually, those for whom I reserve contempt are asshole who confuse political correctness with enlightenment and accommodation of passive aggressive stupidity with respect. My ancestors were Picts, more primitive than their Roman invaders. Now, do you imagine that I don't respect my ancestors or would you like to try to control how I describe them as well?
@Gulfporter Well, thank you for clearing things up for me. Now that I see you are not an intellectual I will attempt to bring this down to your intellectual pay grade. Let's see, shall I use the textual equivalent to Crayons? Using personal anecdotes to make a larger generalization is a major fallacy. And it's not supported historically either. In 900 BC the Olmec Indians built the first pyramids of the Americas. While the Picts were still living in grass huts.
@Gulfporter The use of language like "primatives" is not the language of academics. That sort of language, when referring to developing societies, has been long abandoned and replaced by "developing societies". Now if you were not aware of that, and modify your verbiage in a manner consistent with respect for Native American ancestry, then no harm no foul. If you continue to use that derogatory language and refer this as whining, well that suggests a deeper and racially motivated perspective.
As much as I admire your David Spade style, you may use the terms you prefer, and I will continue to speak English. I's guess you like to say "undocumented worker" instead of "illegal alien" as well, but like most of your bullshit, the two do not mean the same thing.
@Gulfporter The problem with universally referring to people as primitive is that such a envisage will use selective criteria, such as weaponry, as the sole criteria for discussing the overall complexity of a society, while ignoring other relevant human endeavors, eg, architecture, math, astronomy, crop management, commerce. Painting in broad strokes using personal opinion to assign the most critical features of a society is naïve & unscholarly. It was smallpox that the conquered the Americas.
@Gulfporter Your David Spade remark is an awkward attempt at inserting a red herring into the discussion, and it's ill advised in an argument you're losing on substantive fact. Again, I don't mind you using terminology that allows you to convey both the facts at hand and your ostensible marginalization of people. This sort of language lets people observe your innermost workings. Like Malcolm X, I prefer Southern Racists who do not attempt to obscure their true nature.
" If you continue to use that derogatory language and refer this as whining, well that suggests a deeper and racially motivated perspective."
Of course it's racially motivated, you tool, we're speaking of an issue pertaining to an ethnicity. However, if you really want to be amused, there are those of your ilk out there who claim that race doesn't exist, right before calling everyone else a racist.
@Gulfporter "Of course it's racially motivated, you tool, we're speaking of an issue pertaining to an ethnicity. However, if you really want to be amused, there are those of your ilk out there who claim that race doesn't exist, right before calling everyone else a racist."
This, at best, is utterly non sequitur. At worst it's a projection of your own feelings. Please regroup, collect your thoughts, and try to bring something salient into the discussion.
I have no problem with your racist idea that everyone who disagrees with your racist POV is a racist.
" There's only one reason the Europeans were successful in the conquest of the Americas: smallpox"
And you think of yourself as objective? Don't you think that guns, ships, and steel might have had something to do with it? BTW, only 60 of the 500 Jamestown colonists survived the next winter, and none are alive today.
@Gulfporter Dozens of single shot muskets possessed by a few hundred pilgrims at New Plymouth would have been no match for hundreds of thousands of Algonquins along the northeastern seaboard. This shouldn't be of any news to you if you're an educated man. The British settling Americas was more about deception, betrayal, and murder, than technological supremacy. The Wampanoag could have killed them all, but instead befriended the pilgrims (although that relationship was complex).
Bullshit. One candy coated version is as bad as the other. You want to toss the "poor pilgrims seeking religious freedom saved by the noble Indians" garbage and replace it with "evil pilgrims and noble Indians" garbage. In the process you are infantilizing the Indians, and that really pisses me off.
The Indians didn't kill the colonists (other than a few here and there) because they wanted things our ancestors had: horses, steel tools and weapons, guns, and other goods
@Gulfporter Your dearth of knowledge in the field of Native American studies is becoming cumbersome. No, the Pilgrims were not evil. But considering that their survival in that 1st year was dependent on the Wampanoag, their subsequent betrayal of the Wampanoag was not exactly the apex of integrity. Theirs was a complex interdependency. Get up to speed, these facts are part of the academic standards for many states. Should I begin treating you as the remedial student you appear to be?
They had no concept of the massive migration coming, and I'm not sure my ancestors did either. The Indians wanted the advantage over the other tribes which the European stuff would give. This isn't folk history, this is actual history.
@Gulfporter Revisionist history comes at a cost. Speak the truth and spare yourself the worry of snaring yourself in tangled web you weave. Your half-truth serve no value. The Wampanoag were already suffering the consequences of the smallpox and measles epidemics when they struck a deal of mutual protection with the pilgrims. What the Wampanoags were led to believe is that they would continue to have a homeland. This was never the British intention. Look it up, these facts are widely known.
@Gulfporter With respect to Ben Nighthorse Campbell, what's you point? Speak plain and to the purpose and resist using a vague approach for the purposes of equivocation. If in the end I have a POV on Campbell, it will be based upon the facts, not on a cleaver semantic maneuver.
He's half white and half Cheyenne (assuming his father was full Cheyenne), crappy childhood spent in a lousy house, Catholic orphanages and schools and he's a self made man and US Senator. In other words, he's like a great many American Indians, actually he's like a great many Americans. That's my point.
@Gulfporter This is a red herring. It has nothing to do with whether or not there's a fair claim of racism among Native Americans. The extent to which personal effort plays a role in individual achievement is hardly fodder for stimulating discourse. This sort of thing is highly variable with myriad mediating circumstances and doesn't explain deeply entrenched social inequities.
For future reference it's a major rhetorical fallacy to employ anecdotal evidence to produce a generalizable argument
So all the hospital records of the millions of births here in the Western Hemisphere are false? Well, I for one am surprised. You can easily say that humanity isn't indigenous to any land mass if we follow the evolutionary time line of earth's past. Cyanobacteria and other single-celled organisms inhabiting earth's primal waters ring a bell? In that case, Africans, Asians and Europeans wouldn't be native to their respective continents
@Omnicron777 listen to 1:29 . It's a typical thing for ignorant people to say we came from Asia. Asians came from somewhere, Caucasians came from somewhere, but everyone has their own culture and their own beliefs.
What has culture and beliefs got to do with the science of human origins? One of the oldest bits of bullshit in American folklore is that there are "black Irish" , ie dark haired Irish people who descend from shipwrecked Spaniards from the defeated Armada. The problem is, it isn't true. There are no records of that happening (and there would have been) and we were already keeping birth record by then.
@tabaaha92 I'd believe it's more critical- but not a nice thing to say nonetheless. So it's outta there, because I'm not racist, just critical of everybody.
ok if any teachers are watching this and those were yourkids that made those rude *** comments slap them upside the head and EDUCATE THEM! my god i cant belive that people do tat crap to our people
@h1wayman Well sadly nothing can be done, If she was raised in the traditional way, seems like she was she can't stand up to her dad because he's her dad and elder. You should tell her to go visit them and talk to her dad. I'm hoping he'll turn around
@h1wayman You can't think all the Natives are that rude! Many of the people I know would be just as respectful to anyone else they happen to meet. I don't think I've ever heard of any whites being scalped yet...have you? Good luck.
@h1wayman Don't take it personal but my parents want me to marry a sioux woman and keep my people going. The Natives today are different, So that's why her parents dislike you. It's okay all elders are like this, as long as you two are happy nothing else matters.
red neck is a racist term too,.... I mean im hispanic n have been called wetback cuz of my mexican like features which i proudly have, whatever. IDK racism is everywhere so sad
This government we have is all about greed good people. I stand with you..My beliefs stand with you, For a lifetine I have been drawn to the Native American ways..always believed in simplicity, and nature, I heal from nature, and am one with the wolf and horse. I believe God is a spirit of energy in the universe, Native Americans deserve better.N. A people should be the ones in government.. I can not apoligize for American people, I can for myself. I am sorry Life has been a battle. Good Luck !
The Native American are not being respected. I am not from United States and in some places I have been disrespected. I unite with the Idea that not being from this country or being Native American doesn't make us individuals of less quality. I Truly admire Native American after knowing the true story of how they were dispossesed of their territories and forced into reservations. After I heard the history behind reservations, I got really mad. That is not fair.
i have come to a place on how we are precious we are the world no one should be treated any less what would hawaii be without the hawaians who makes a place a place
Indians should teach others about spiritual guidance which could do us all a bit of good. I have never viewed Indians as any less than my equal. You may think that everyone is against your beliefs but that can't be further from the truth. People refer to you more than you think because you are America. We need the natives to join America in spirtual healing.
@zjones1222 Definately! I agree. This earth is being destroyed, by the ones who came into this country. The only thing the Native Americans did was only to protect their enviornment, their territory.. Like the wolf, and Horse, they have boundaries and protected their space. Native Americans were the first true Americans.. I am not of this group, but I know what is right and wrong. Common Sense only tells the story., The people who came in did a takeover, this is your land. Good Luck Z..
It's not only the Whites here, it's the foreigners who come to this country, lied to about us all, Blacks and Natives..they hate us too and have even worse racism against us many times. They come here and build their lives freely and easily upon OUR backs. When I'm in their country, I respect them. They don't return the favor over here.
My first exposure to native americans was watching Jay Silverheels on the Lone Ranger. I saw them as being helpful towards each other and as heros of the day. I was about 5 yerars old at the time. As time went on I found out just what an insane asylum we live in. I for one am sorry about how you've been treated.
I'm horrified and angered by the lingering, racist stereotypes of Natives, but I'm glad whenever I see aggressive efforts to debunk and resist these stereotypes. I sense in those who oppress, an effort to systematically destroy all Native peoples and cultures.
i learnt that we all came from the same place sort of speak and over a great period of time the white race as people call them they use to have the same color skin but through many eons they had lost they,re pigment which is harder for them due to the earth changes and the sun in its process those pigments i heard help to sustain in the sun they have to be careful now
@thebluebunny1 you mean that's why they have sunscreen? i heard something similar to that before. the sun's position influences skin color over time or somethng like that.
@elinheartstristin i also heard to that it maybe due to uneasiness with ones surroundings , it sounds like it happened over a very long period of time ,unfortunate for some who will burn because of the intensity of the sun in global warming suns radiation and the thinning of the ozone due to polution so i heard its no longer about anyone being more superior i hope and pray people who are stuck in tthat type of thinking find ther'er way out that illusion
It's not about pride whites just don't want to change the name because they'd have to get off the couch.
Hitler publically admitted before his death he got his ideas from the US government's treatment of the indians (we are not a source of entertainment death, rape, theft). I'm going to make a team called "The White Americans" my mascot is going to be a fat white diabetic eating a cheesburger with vericose veins, or maybe a holocaust kids team everytime a home run is hit we shoot a jew
You mean to tell me that people still think of native Americans in racist and derogatory ways? You let me catch somebody putting a Native American down and cussing them, I don't care who it is, it's gonna be on like Donkey Kong! My maternal grandmother was Cherokee Indian, but I never got to meet her as she died from tuberculosis.
@Amicus1952 ....Europeans. theres a hornets nest! its very complex. we were once like you. but someone discovered metal working, etc, and things just speeded up too fast! its sad. i think Otzi's world was better! in his world all you needed was a good bow and sharp eyes! food and beer was plentiful. all the village chicks knew yer name! you could go travel and hunt when ever you wanted,(if you kept yer eyes open for enemy tribesmen!),. no taxes! no pollution! the woods covered Europe then!
being a white man i am discusted at our history and being with a native woman and having a native child , i take offence at things people say like oh they get free shit why dont we?(excuse me you took thier land and tried to killl off the race!!!) people might say i want to be native but just because i have the same belifs and cultural views does not mean i want to be native................................ assholes
If this is the way the young Native Americans are treating each other then the parents and the teachers have to work together and eliminate that behaviour. I have Native Status in Canada and I would say please lose the victim mentality if you want to move forward. Forget what happened and get on with life. Yes racism against us is powerful and real but carry yourselves with confidence (don't take too much prejudiced b.s.) and you can move mountains.
Everyone seems to have been troubled by whites. It's time we told the whites what we think of them. Whites are less intelligent than an average person. Whites are savages. Whites are blood thirsty. Whites are fit for the porn industry.
HYPOCRISY!! Just one example is the use of the term "REDNECK". Derogatory for Irish immigrants who were all but used as forced labor on the railroad during the early years of the USA. POOR ME POOR ME!
Watching this video made me sad. I would like to say that racism is wrong no matter who you are or what ethnic group you refer to. Before anyone says "i hate all white people" consider this...not all of them are hateful or are guilty of things worthy of your hate. Those that commited crimes against other races hundreds of years ago are dead and those alive now would never agree to that treatment now. Hating all for the acts of a few is wrong.
I'm fullblood native I had to fight with whites as long as i can remember. i was never brought up to be racist or hate I LEARNED IT FROM WHITE PEOPLE. I'm glad white america is at war with people who dont put up with hteir shit and im glad its their sons and daughters that are being killed in another country too bad our people never had ak47's and rocket propelled grenades we would have did some damage.
The Young Ladies in the Basketball Game showed Great Courage and Honor while being accosted by the Racist Jerks and Fake Fouls the Referee called on them! You Young Women BE PROUD!! The Wasichu are the Stupid ones..Racist Buggers only show how absolutely STUPID they are!!
@1980vince your AMERICAN INDIAN look at us and then look in the mirror YOU ARE AMERICAN INDIAN your identity was stolen by spaniards..your aztex, maya, nanthual ...and others...wado
@1980vince My step father was mexican and black foot indian my wife is african american me i am a human being you see i wont dishonor myself by being called german or irish or whatever i am a human being and the one thing i know is that is fact we arnt a different species so thus we are all interlinked and so thus we hate eachother for a false interpritation of what the govt has labeld us as being so dont believe the hype and learn who you are on the inside it its all the same that way
I lived in the USA for years and my great grandparents fled the Nazis because of bias of Hitler because he wasn't German. Their cousins died because they helped their church in aiding Jews in hiding and escaping because many of them just disappeared and if they made it to Palestine they would have written. One thing is that Native Americans are the only US citizens who have any right to complain about racism and they never did but the most heinous genocide IMHO resulted in the USA...
my family came to be safe and I was taught that genocide is the most inhuman act and nobody deserved it and in the US when people said they were Native American and I apologized they didn't understand my position. I never understood. Mexicans come to the US and demand Spanish and racial rights but they are forcing the culture forced on them from Spain when Mayans are who they should admire as their natives. I also left and went back to Germany and got asked why and I can't live with the guilt
@MrSpieldose Well first off we are human beings nothing more race is only used to seperate people and endorse racism you see if you were a race where you get dual citizen ship then it would have relevance and dont feel guilt for liveing in germany wonderful human beings they are and smart i mean hell 50 million died in world war 2 yet we dont hear about the millions of woman and children died from us dropping bombs and such so dont believe the censored media you will only end up with one side
to the person who said assimilating into american culture is the answer for receiving equal treatment< I have to say thats a load of crap, just ask any foreigner whos trying assimilate-ask them how much equality and respect they get? The point is in most societes different is bad and thats b/c we live in a narrow view racist world-and everyones so caught up in thier ethnocentric bullcrap that apparently its never going to change

Nativegirl1985 1 year ago 10
@Nativegirl1985 Same here. I'm white and Native American and was raised as small child in Native way though my parents do not have tribal membership because my grandparents were too ashamed to admit they were Native. Whites have never accepted me and I get mistaken for being Latino or Middle Eastern, yet Natives do not acknowledge me as Native. Natives are just as racist against their own people so look in the mirror before you claim whites are only racists.

Its play war.
cobrachoppergirl 1 year ago

You forget who we are when u forget this

im half native american and half mexican and the white people are so racist with native americans, they should remember who are the true owners of all usa land: mexicans and native americans,
mellyvel1 1 year ago
@mellyvel1 I don't think you should be so quick to claim equal property rights for Mexicans with those of the Native Americans. I know that Mexicans would like to invade both American and Native American lands. I don't think that Native Americans would you taking ownership of the rez either. Mexico has vast resources and a very intelligent and creative population, you should develop your own country. If would do so, learning from all the mistakes of the USA, you would be greater than the USA.
Bently100 1 year ago
@Bently100 WRONG half of the usa land was MEXICO & the native americans were MEXICANS too,& mexicans are not like white people we not invade lands that its not ours, so its not our fault that the white people dont want to accept that, thats the truth and white people still claiming that its their land when they invaded our lands, killed our people, and they tell to mexicans as same to native americans that we are the inmigrants when thats not true they are the inmigrants.

mellyvel1 1 year ago
@mellyvel1 I do see your point, but your starting point for the argument is with the European invasion. This is only part of the story. What ever land was carved out by a particular tribe was taken from another tribe in war. A war was already going, and the Europeans joined in the war, and won. They had the same rights to it as the previous owners who did the same to someone else. Those were the times. I ask again, do the Native Americans want to share their rez with Mexicans- no they don't.
Bently100 1 year ago
@Bently100 before the white people came to the americas there wasnt any war between any tribes, & white people came doing wars, dont say things that are not true, you dont know what native americans will say about the mexicans, but i do, i lived with them i know them so im pretty sure that they are willing to share with mexicans than with white people, they are free in mexico, there is no racism to native americans because every mexican is indian same as us we prefer mexicans & we support them.
mellyvel1 1 year ago
@mellyvel1 I am sorry, but you must not know very much about history. The only reason that the Europeans were helped by the "Indians" was that the NA's wanted them as allies against other tribes with whom they were at war. To say that Indians tribes did not fight to the death over territory any many other things is to ignore everything which is known about them and 10 thousand years of human history. You subscribe to the notion that The Americas were Eden until the evil whites came.Silly idea.
Bently100 1 year ago
@mellyvel1 If illegal Mexicans were welcome on the reservations, they would be full of them. It would be well known that reservations were a place of sanctuary for illegals but they are not.
Bently100 1 year ago
@Bently100 & that doesnt mean that we are racist like you, every white & black person know that we prefer mexicans cuz they have the same blood as us, our people were good friends of the aztec empire, and yes there is mexicans in reservations, cuz you dont live in a reservation that doesnt mean that there is no mexicans in, there is alot of native americans that prefer to go to mexico and live there cuz we are free there, there is no racism, if u dont know so dont say things that r not true..
mellyvel1 1 year ago
@mellyvel1 BE careful with your accusations, they just make you look stupid. You are totally confused about the development of the Americas. There were invasions from all coroners of it by different peoples, and they did fight over territory-they were NOT "good friends". There are all kinds of mixed races on reservations, just not illegals.I have Mexicans and NA's in my own family, but they are not illegals. No one wants to live in Mexico, they are dying to leave. They want European modernity.
Bently100 1 year ago
@Bently100 dat funny i see dat u dont know about my people unless my history, yes they were good FRIENDS its not our fault dat the people like u dont want to accept it, but what only matter its what my people know & what they know is true & well those mexicans dat u said dats the kind of mexicans dat r so ignorant, & MEXICO has a beautiful culture, freedom, ur wrong there is alot people dat prefer MEXICO than usa d white people r inmigrants in this continent & what all they said is so wrong.

Bently100 1 year ago
In ME and in Canada I have experienced this racism, in southern states as well. If you are not Native you will most likely not see it. Men wont see how other men behave towards women in the subways at night. I was 17 yrs old when I left. walked across coutry & back & in the big cities this happened to the women. Perverts in the subways. I went to a coffee house & my friend Ashley & i tried to tell our guy friend & he didnt believe us. I snapped & said "That's because they dont do it to YOU!"

Who's to say who's primitive?
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
For the record, I'm not Native American, but Native Americans epitomize the meaning of survival and strength. What is sad is how so many misguided soles who, within the same breath, ask Native Americans to stop whining about so-called, non-existent racism while spewing out passive aggressive racial epithet.
Scratch the surface and the racism emerges.
So what it going to be racist? Will you stop the marginalizing of non-Whites, or admit that racism never went away... it just went underground?
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru

Gulfporter 1 year ago
@Gulfporter Your life experiences may not have exposed you to the injustices NAs have experienced. Public schools have done little to tell the complete and accurate story of Native American genocide. What can you tell me, without having to Google it, about Tecumseh, Wounded Knee, or Sand Creek?
Incidents of racism against NAs are still common. To listen to a more serious incident, Google "This American Life" and "High Speed Chase" But if you'd prefer to live in self-deception, have at it.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru
The whining continued for 400 yr

There's only one reason the Europeans were successful in the conquest of the Americas: smallpox
And yes, genocide is apropos. And you led me to believe you had a top notch education. A lying white man, how novel.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru
Gulfporter 1 year ago
@Gulfporter Reality just called, it wants you to check-in. Marginalizes Native Americans by calling them "primatives" and whiners would by definition be racism. Albeit, mild racism. It's not the language of an enlightened individual who hold Native Americans in high esteem. If you're unable to self-reflect, this conversation is not going very far. Self-reflection and an ability to be self-critical is an activity of advanced thinkers. I suggest you look into it.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru
Gulfporter 1 year ago
@Gulfporter Well, thank you for clearing things up for me. Now that I see you are not an intellectual I will attempt to bring this down to your intellectual pay grade. Let's see, shall I use the textual equivalent to Crayons? Using personal anecdotes to make a larger generalization is a major fallacy. And it's not supported historically either. In 900 BC the Olmec Indians built the first pyramids of the Americas. While the Picts were still living in grass huts.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@Gulfporter The use of language like "primatives" is not the language of academics. That sort of language, when referring to developing societies, has been long abandoned and replaced by "developing societies". Now if you were not aware of that, and modify your verbiage in a manner consistent with respect for Native American ancestry, then no harm no foul. If you continue to use that derogatory language and refer this as whining, well that suggests a deeper and racially motivated perspective.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru
As much as I admire your David Spade style, you may use the terms you prefer, and I will continue to speak English. I's guess you like to say "undocumented worker" instead of "illegal alien" as well, but like most of your bullshit, the two do not mean the same thing.
Gulfporter 1 year ago
@Gulfporter The problem with universally referring to people as primitive is that such a envisage will use selective criteria, such as weaponry, as the sole criteria for discussing the overall complexity of a society, while ignoring other relevant human endeavors, eg, architecture, math, astronomy, crop management, commerce. Painting in broad strokes using personal opinion to assign the most critical features of a society is naïve & unscholarly. It was smallpox that the conquered the Americas.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@Gulfporter Your David Spade remark is an awkward attempt at inserting a red herring into the discussion, and it's ill advised in an argument you're losing on substantive fact. Again, I don't mind you using terminology that allows you to convey both the facts at hand and your ostensible marginalization of people. This sort of language lets people observe your innermost workings. Like Malcolm X, I prefer Southern Racists who do not attempt to obscure their true nature.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru
Gulfporter 1 year ago
@Gulfporter "Of course it's racially motivated, you tool, we're speaking of an issue pertaining to an ethnicity. However, if you really want to be amused, there are those of your ilk out there who claim that race doesn't exist, right before calling everyone else a racist."
This, at best, is utterly non sequitur. At worst it's a projection of your own feelings. Please regroup, collect your thoughts, and try to bring something salient into the discussion.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru
" I have no problems with you being a racist."
Gulfporter 1 year ago
@Gulfporter Dozens of single shot muskets possessed by a few hundred pilgrims at New Plymouth would have been no match for hundreds of thousands of Algonquins along the northeastern seaboard. This shouldn't be of any news to you if you're an educated man. The British settling Americas was more about deception, betrayal, and murder, than technological supremacy. The Wampanoag could have killed them all, but instead befriended the pilgrims (although that relationship was complex).
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru
Gulfporter 1 year ago
@Gulfporter Your dearth of knowledge in the field of Native American studies is becoming cumbersome. No, the Pilgrims were not evil. But considering that their survival in that 1st year was dependent on the Wampanoag, their subsequent betrayal of the Wampanoag was not exactly the apex of integrity. Theirs was a complex interdependency. Get up to speed, these facts are part of the academic standards for many states. Should I begin treating you as the remedial student you appear to be?
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru
They had no concept of the massive migration coming, and I'm not sure my ancestors did either. The Indians wanted the advantage over the other tribes which the European stuff would give. This isn't folk history, this is actual history.
Gulfporter 1 year ago
@Gulfporter Revisionist history comes at a cost. Speak the truth and spare yourself the worry of snaring yourself in tangled web you weave. Your half-truth serve no value. The Wampanoag were already suffering the consequences of the smallpox and measles epidemics when they struck a deal of mutual protection with the pilgrims. What the Wampanoags were led to believe is that they would continue to have a homeland. This was never the British intention. Look it up, these facts are widely known.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@Gulfporter With respect to Ben Nighthorse Campbell, what's you point? Speak plain and to the purpose and resist using a vague approach for the purposes of equivocation. If in the end I have a POV on Campbell, it will be based upon the facts, not on a cleaver semantic maneuver.
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
@AllknowingGuitarGuru
He's half white and half Cheyenne (assuming his father was full Cheyenne), crappy childhood spent in a lousy house, Catholic orphanages and schools and he's a self made man and US Senator. In other words, he's like a great many American Indians, actually he's like a great many Americans. That's my point.
Gulfporter 1 year ago
@Gulfporter This is a red herring. It has nothing to do with whether or not there's a fair claim of racism among Native Americans. The extent to which personal effort plays a role in individual achievement is hardly fodder for stimulating discourse. This sort of thing is highly variable with myriad mediating circumstances and doesn't explain deeply entrenched social inequities.
For future reference it's a major rhetorical fallacy to employ anecdotal evidence to produce a generalizable argument
AllknowingGuitarGuru 1 year ago
So all the hospital records of the millions of births here in the Western Hemisphere are false? Well, I for one am surprised. You can easily say that humanity isn't indigenous to any land mass if we follow the evolutionary time line of earth's past. Cyanobacteria and other single-celled organisms inhabiting earth's primal waters ring a bell? In that case, Africans, Asians and Europeans wouldn't be native to their respective continents
Enseni 1 year ago
@Omnicron777 listen to 1:29 . It's a typical thing for ignorant people to say we came from Asia. Asians came from somewhere, Caucasians came from somewhere, but everyone has their own culture and their own beliefs.
tabaaha92 1 year ago
@tabaaha92

Indians should teach others about spiritual guidance which could do us all a bit of good. I have never viewed Indians as any less than my equal. You may think that everyone is against your beliefs but that can't be further from the truth. People refer to you more than you think because you are America. We need the natives to join America in spirtual healing.
zjones1222 1 year ago 2
@zjones1222 Definately! I agree. This earth is being destroyed, by the ones who came into this country. The only thing the Native Americans did was only to protect their enviornment, their territory.. Like the wolf, and Horse, they have boundaries and protected their space. Native Americans were the first true Americans.. I am not of this group, but I know what is right and wrong. Common Sense only tells the story., The people who came in did a takeover, this is your land. Good Luck Z..

One positive aspect of this is that native Americans were more genetically advanced than Europeans. Hence the extreme efforts to defeat them.
Sad that so many had to die, good that some survived.
We are entering difficult times, time will tell who will be victorious now that the scales are more balanced.

MrSpieldose 1 year ago
my family came to be safe and I was taught that genocide is the most inhuman act and nobody deserved it and in the US when people said they were Native American and I apologized they didn't understand my position.
