In Japan in 1964 I first heard the riff used here in the song " She's Mine " by another British band who were there for the Olympics. That tune can now be found on You Tube;s " Nuggets from the Liverpool Five ( Part 1)". D Purple and the Blues Magoos have long kept a secret about that classic  example of early Brit garage. Do yourself a favor and go check it out...it's well worth it. Purps are still great too...way ahead of Metallica.
