I remember hearing an opera singer do this song on NPR. She named her daughter after this song. I played this song alone to my daughter when she was four days old, even though she has a different name. I wanted a daughter since I can't remember when. She is now 14 and everything I could ever wish for, beyond my wildest dreams. What a beautiful song. I did entertain the idea of using this name, but her name was predestined since 1969.
So was I! My mother had the Barbara Streisand Album and I listened to it for years growing up. She says she would sing it to me even when she was still in hospital with me. :-)

That would be Frederica von Stade whom I saw in concert yesterday and she sang this song! I've been looking for an operatic version.
