  • At this point these guys cannot do any wrong. Isnt this guy from New YOrk? I cant understand a word he is saying. Everything I need to know about these people are on those albums. AND.... AND... We need new heroes today.

  • @tedcantu1 john cale is welsh.

  • @lesassassins Well Good ! LOL

  • Cale ... is being generous LR.. Reed was not fit to lace his boots ... hence his latest joke with heavy metal Metallica !

  • JC is being diplomatic here because Reed is an over rated self-serving bully yet was part of the fabulous VU and of course must be acknowledged for that.

  • both Pisces

  • the other two (Sterling ans Mo) were both Virgo

  • I'm amazed that not one comment so far mentions the possibility that he might be under the influence. Which his speech indicates. Nonetheless, a bright guy.

  • 1:03 fart

  • What a great voice, great haircut, great style. Don't destroy england with third worlders.

  • @knightschwartz hear hear

  • Oh goodness gracious forbid a man think before he speak. even if it comes out sounding ODD. The shit goin on in this guy's head can hardly bee verbalized in Earth Languages!

  • He had contempt for the media and spoke carefully, knowing that the camera was on.

  • Summary: He was a dick.

  • @Blackboilingrobotoil A brilliant one though. Genius like that can be perceived in many ways. His contempt for stupidity and ignorance can be perceived as dick behavior by some. I've never thought of him like that though, he just has a short tolerance for certain things. He is entitled in my opinion.

  • @cactaceous Oh I agree more or less. Just joking about the video.

  • I really think Cale was the true genius in VU

  • in what way is cale Inarticulate???? he's no WAY inarticulate, he's a clever man

  • wish I could see all of the interview. Lovely to hear John Cale talking -and no, I don't agree he's not articulate. Thanks for posting anyway.

  • Cale and Reed are just opposite spirits..It seems quite curious to me that they were able to make music together...

  • He's from Wales, right? Isn't Wales the West Virginia of England? West Virginians have sex with pigs, and the Welsh have sex with sheep. I've lived in W.Va, so I'm not prejudiced, just wondering.

  • @Hister333 Yeah that's about correct lol. Except you can see the sun in West Virginia

  • @Hister333 That is the common joke. it may be true. But wales is a lovley place, as I'm sure west Virginia is. P.S I'm English

  • @Bickieundspielen It looks good to me. But I only get to see it on the five days of sunshine when they film Doctor Who and Torchwood.

  • @Hister333

Wales is the Wales of Great Britain. Great Britain still has vast rural expanses, and Wales is one of them, though not entirely. I don't know what my point is, other than no, you're wrong. And I don't care if you're from West Virginia, you're obviously not from Scots-Irish Appalachian stock if you are willing to say ignorant stuff like that. More people in this country could do with the authenticity of those people.

  • @smithjedediah Don't confuse inbred with authentic.

  • @Hister333

I grew up in a hill town in rural Western Massachusetts, which is also on the Appalachian range, and I personally think those are some of the finest people in the country.

  • @Hister333 No, Wales isn't the West Virginia of England because Wales isn't in England you stupid cunt.

  • @CymroGoch You know what I meant. :p

  • For a man who was raised to speak Welsh and didn't learn English until the age of 7 I think he articulates quite well.

  • It's almost like he's having a blowjob during the interview.

  • @codeastronomer now that's just plain funny

  • He has such a lovely manner.

  • I have a CD set of The Island Years, his great three albums for Island Records. Absolutely remarkable songwriter and musician. So underrated it is a shame. I have always ranked him with Bowie, Ferry, Reed, and Eno, after Lennon and McCartney, of course. "You Know More Than I Know" and "Buffalo Ballet" two faves. So many more memorable songs. I am grateful for his music. A true Godsend for me.

  • @lazyriver2

Actually, his album "Words for the dying" was produced by Brian Eno. But we also have to thank the Orchestra of Symphonic & Popular Music of Gosteleradio, USSR. They performed "The Falklands Suite" for this album.

  • Great interview - I'm a long-time fan of both artists. Thank you:)

  • "he seemed extremely vunerabubble" haha

  • Never ceases to amaze how inarticulate terrific musicians tend to be. David Bowie would be the exception.

  • @MrLeagueOJustice I don't think Cale is inarticulate at all. Quite on the contrary. He's just very thoughtful and slow in a way.

  • @MowgliX

You're right. It's a bit labored isn't it? but not inarticulate.

  • @MrLeagueOJustice Well, it's not easy to describe a colleague like Lou Reed in only a few words, and I think John felt it was important to get it as accurate as possible. I love that Welsh accent, very melodic, very enjoyable.

  • @MrLeagueOJustice And filmmakers! Take Ingmar Bergman for instance. A very, very inarticulate man, even in his native language. He was almost exclusively visual, and I suppose Cale, though he is literary in some ways, is also very auditory-oriented, which is evident even in his very melodious and beautiful Welsh accent. It's just how your brain works, how your interests and special talents guide you in life, don't you think?

  • @MowgliX

Yes I do think and that is the conclusion I came to.

  • @MrLeagueOJustice He's incredible articulate her. Very consise. What are you missing?

  • @VincesVinyl

Well um, uh... maybe the fact it took two minutes to say Lou was most defined when he was angry, um ah yeah uh,,, that might be it.

  • @MrLeagueOJustice Cale is just picking his words carefully and thinking about what he's saying. I know this could be an anathema to some Americans but that's one of the reasons why he's such a great artist.

  • Dear @silvi01977: Go fuck yerself.

  • @MrLeagueOJustice What other naughty words do you know?! You can do better than that... you don't pick your words as carefully as John Cale does, gimp.

  • @silvi01977 Oh, I wouldn't say it's anathema to some Americans, you can'r generalize like that. But yeah, that's what Cale does, chooses carefully what to say and he doesn't just blurt out. And that is something that annoys me on YouTube and elsewhere on the internet, that some people use bad language and keep making enemies. It's totally needless and pointless.

  • @MrLeagueOJustice george w,. bush would be another
