  • Hello, I have Bugera V5 and Jojo High Gain Distortion and I can't get good metal sound? Why? Is it to small amp? Do I have to buy bigger 333,o or 6262. Please help me :)

  • @1985piter I just got a 333xl head today and the V5 last week. The V5 has very little gain compared to the 333xl, but the v5 sounds absolutely amazing when using basic distortion (non-fuzz type) pedal e.g. boss ds-1 with the amp's gain setting on around 6 or 7. The guitar can also make a big difference with active/high voltage pickups giving a more heavy distortion sound.

No distortion pedals required for the 333xl but!

  • the dislike bar is like a bad ninja, you know it's there, and you can also see his forehead poking alongside the wall

  • I think I may buy this, assuming that the punk band I'm trying to start works out. I'm into hardcore, so I don't know how this will work out, but I have high expectations for this amp.

  • Nice sounding amp, what tubes does it use?

  • @dattoboy1 2 x 6L6 power tubes. 3 x 12AX7's.

  • @SIGN666 But regardless of what anyone says, I'd never pair a tube amp and a solid state amp together on stage

  • @SIGN666 So what you're saying is with an EQ pedal you can turn that piece of shit into a polished piece of shit? It's still a piece of shit. Why spend the extra money on more crap you don't need when you could just get one badass all-purpose pedal? But then I guess it all depends on what you play =/ I've just never found the need for over-the-top distortion. Plus I play a lot of different styles so I need something more versatile and not just something for metal. Tube Screamer is my baby

  • @SIGN666 Metal Zone is not complicated, it just sucks. Accept it and get something better and more versatile. And why would you pair tube with solid state? That practically defeats the purpose of getting a tube amp in the first place. You'd be much better off just getting a Peavey Vypyr

  • @SIGN666 Personally, I would advise against the Metal Zone. Or any Boss pedal for that matter. Just stick with a Tube Screamer - preferably Maxon, Ibanez ones are crap - and set the tone really low; that should fatten it up. I use my Maxon D&S II for everything and rarely set the tone past 9 o'clock. I'm currently in a sludge/doom metal project, so I set it to max volume and gain and turn the tone all the way down for a really low, heavy sound.

  • sounds really nice. the head looks like a Bad Cat Lynx boutique amp.

which cabinet did you use here? which speakers?thx

  • so what is this amp a clone of?

  • @MRWHITE3535 It is a clone of Scotties transporter.

  • @dingle1

    what's that???

  • @MRWHITE3535 Looks like I got hacked. I don't even remember posting that. There are a number of amps that look like it, Matchless, Mesa lonestar, the new PRS amp. It sounds great and looks cool, that will do for me.

  • @i lol'd at your comment. you got hacked? why would anyone hack your account and reply to our comments? you were just wasted man

  • diggin' the accent

  • @CrusadeFromHell You mean my English accent ;)

  • @dingle1 aye :P

  • Sounds good but its not the saw your face off with a hammer tone I've grown accustomed too. How does this thing take dirt pedals.

  • @crushingoverdrive If you want that kind of noise then get a 6262. Watch from 4.30, I use a TS808.

  • It is a good combination with a fender strat (60s) ????

  • Thats a test!! Many thanks man! :) Great playin' :)

  • Dude for real Bugera needs to put you on the payroll and shower you with amps for these reviews. In every one of your videos you do, you get ridiculously awesome sounds out of there amps, and prove to everyone that no one needs to buy overpriced amps to rock out.

  • @meginis8 Thanks man, you're very kind. Unfortunately I don't get amps or money from Bugera, even though I have an endorsement deal with them. In fact it turns out I don't get anything at all, at least not so far, not a thing. They owe me a lot of gear etc, but I'm not holding my breath.

  • So, there isn't any pedal on this demo ?

  • @niahaa Not until I mention where I use one which is about half way through.

  • @dingle1 Yeah ^^''''' I had not wait enough =). Sorry :p

  • The Joe Satriani VOX pedals are absolutely kick ass sounding! The distortion unit, "Satchurator" conjures up some killer tones! I'll bet they all would be very nice through this V55HD amp!

  • Are you English, Aussie, or New Zealand? By the way, your tone in all of your vids is very inspirational! Thank you! Bugera amps sound very cool!

  • The satan is dangerous!!!

  • The second satan!!!

  • @ozzychoker What happened to the first one?

  • @dingle1 I suspect he killed himself when he realized your metal would always be better than his LOL

  • Would this be a good budget metal amp to play live. What would be a good cab for it.

  • @shanecook9 Yeah man, if you ran an overdrive pedal though it and used a decent 4x12. The Bugera 4x12 is a good cab for the £. If you can, get a used Marshall 1960..

  • Are all Valves, Tubes the stock ones that come from factory in this amp? Any modifications?

  • what is the difference between the V55HD and the V55 combo??

  • @aadame90 one is a head, that goes to a cabinet, and ones a combo amp.

  • @imwithnoone that is pretty obvious, any other difference?? sound, valces, preamp, something??

  • @aadame90 The only difference is the one that aadame90 has stated.

  • @aadame90 i'm not for sure on that one, i've never owned a tube head or a tube combo, but i have the chance to buy this model for 350 bucks, with the cab so i'm going to get it for sure.

  • I would say that it passed the metal test, without a doubt. I think the guitar of choice really helped it along, however. That being said, it does not compare to a, say, Diamond or Engl. Those two are made for metal. Methinks it is on par with a JCM800. Great amp, regardless. And as a bonus, you can dial it back for a kick ass blues tone or classic rock. Final Grade : B+

  • @smacman68 ,this amp to me sounds more metal and jcm800 than all the engl stuff

  • @luigiperso Uh. I highly doubt it sounds very metal with a guitar with either PAFs, or single coils. Unlike an Engl that would still sound brutal. I think a lot of this is due to using EMGs. :P

  • @DavidRayT Would you like me to do a clip using passive pickups with average output?

  • @dingle1 Yeah, that would be pretty cool actually. :D

  • @DavidRayT Will do. I'm nursing a busted ankle at the moment, but as soon as I am up and able, I'll do it.

  • @dingle1 Ouch! Forget about the clip, if you're ankles messed up.

  • wow that sounds great nice playing thanks fer the vids!

  • In your opinion is the Bugera 1990 suited better for versatility , or the Bugera 1955HD? I play everything from Metal, to Jazz. Thanks! :)

  • @ironsabbath18 If you need a very versatile amp that can do everything from metal to jazz, I would check out either the 333xl or the TRIREC.

  • Bought it today, you're the maaaan!!!

  • Amazing amp for the money, can it do a jcm 800 midrange type crunch?

  • great sound, alot of grind, not fuzzy or farty.

  • Hey man, i have this and i can bareley get any sound ouit of it.... like i have the master and voume on 4 and its not loud at all.... like bareley hear it.... whats goiing on

  • @Iaintnosynystergates Check your connections, speaker leads, guitar lead, speaker cabinet etc. If the problem persists take it back to the dealer and have it checked out.

  • @Iaintnosynystergates Dude same thing happened to my amp the other day. We thought it was an internal problem, but we figured out it waas just the speaker cables. Check every single cable before you go out and spend a lot of money to have it looked at.

  • Quality

  • DINGLE, UR VIDS ROCK MAN. THERE ARE NAY SAYERS ALL OVER, FUK'EM IN THE NECK!!!!!!KEEP IT UP!!!

  • i heard most of the bugera amps are based on other amps (1990 on jcm 900 so on and so forth) what is the v55hd based on?

  • @mami3790 Good question.

I also would like to know... A mix between an hot rod and a soldano ? lol

  • @ArkaneFR Not entirely sure myself TBH, the V series look very much like Matchless amps.

  • @dingle1 I think they're based on the peavey classic series, i talked to a guy at a local dealer about it a while ago

  • @otherrandomhero Looks-wise atleast, it's based on a Matchless.

  • @DavidRayT , who cares.....price wise the Matchless costs about 19 times more

  • @luigiperso And probably sounds a lot better. XD

  • @mami3790 the mesa lonestar i believe....

  • I believe you man. Joel needs to get a life. Your one of the most helpful dudes on youtube in any regard not just music.

  • @Onyxaxe Thanks mate, very kind ;)

  • Looks like joegg222 has been proven wrong, but has no intention of appologising after publically accusing me of lying and faking my videos.

    com/watch?v=mbmjyYaIfk0

  • Comment removed

  • @joegg222 How ridiculous. What would be the point of that? If ever you're in the UK stop by and you can see for yourself. I have better things to do with my time than to fake videos. Besides, how would I have done it? The sound on the video is clearly live. I've posted a vid of me playing this thing live and it sounded similar (not as fat because of the cabinet, but very close). Shame on you for accusing me of faking sir.

  • Comment removed

  • @joegg222 What total nonsense. I don't care how long you have been playing. The sound in this video is coming from the V55 through a Marshall cab using a les paul with EMG's, no pedals, no tricks etc. At 4.30 I add a tubscreamer to it, all it does is enhance the sustain. Just for you I'm going to make another video of this amp today, the shot will be wider so you can see everything, I'll make sure there can be no doubts. I don't like being accused of lying to the people that support me.

  • Comment removed

  • @joegg222 It's not fake lol have you ever played the amp before? its more than capable of producing the same tone. plus its run through a decent 4x12 cabinet, as dave mentioned its going through his marshall cab along with EMG's in his guitar either way you look at it with any type of low wattage amp through a big cabinet you get a metal like tone, but im sure you knew that right studio man? I'm thinking of buying this or a 333xl for xmas

  • @joegg222 Just tell up why he would fake the sound //come on mate get real

  • Hooooly shit! This amp sounds sooo great! Ty for the review m8! (:

  • Could please give me some advise (:

I have a Marshall mg15cdr and its a beginners amp now i wanna move on to a better amp, i play Pop/ Punk / Rock / Metal and sometimes heavy metal stuff: bands like Escape The Fate, Kings Of Leon, Snowpatrol, Bullet For My Valentine, Metallica, Editors Green Day. so now I'm thinking about to buy the v22 combo but is this thing better / heavier? because i don't have allot of money for buying a amp higher then €300,- . . . Chris (sorry about the bad English)

  • love these amps, they are cheap and sound better than other brands that are more expensive.

dingle1 congratulations, you also roll a great sound

  • can i get the same killer tones from my fender custom 72?>

    your reviews are awsome!!!!!!!

  • @y1995g Thanks man, I don't know, never owned one.

  • Im gonna buy a V55HD, just because of your nice style to play Ozzy riffs!

  • i'm glad you got a good sound out of it. When i had mine the distortion channel sounded dead. when i palm muted, the sound would just die. on other amps it sustains and sits there a while if you get what i mean. I bought a krank rev jr pro 50w. sounds much better to me.

  • Awesome tone man! But you know, the youtube sound and real sound are worlds apart, when driving this amp hard, what does it remind you of?

  • @acompres Very true, it sounds much better when you standing next to it.

  • holy crap, that sounds wicked for a so called vintage amp...

  • @xntrickk Thanks mate, check out the VH55HD lead test I just posted! Don't forget to subscribe!

  • Hello dingle1

    I like your Videos !

You have a great Tone and your playin is inspirating me to practise more.

  • @abc123gpl Thanks mate!!

  • so when you use the tube screamer are you just playing the tube screamer through the clean channel or did you actually add it to the distortion you were already using?

  • @topdog2328 I added it to the lead chanel. The TS alone doesn't have a lot of gain, it's not a distortion pedal.

  • @coltona7x Dont see why not

  • Did the bugera already come with tubes right out of the box, ready to go?

  • @Ibanez650 Yes it did!

  • How did you do this :O i tried out a used one at guitar center, and i couldnt get near this much gain, it had jj ecc83s's and GT power tubes, i had the gain all the way up, and i cranked it pretty good on a vht 4x12, just sounded about like some classic rock tone, with just a little more distortion, you think something might be wrong with it? if so that probly why its been sitting on the show room floor for over a year

  • @mopheadthe3rd I suspect there is nothing wrong with the amp at all. Its a comon falacy that in order to get a great metal tone you need a ton of gain. If you listen to a lot of metal players, they don't use a lot of gain. The secret is lots of mid, tight low end, crank the volume (which increases saturation on a tube amp) and great pickups. If I played with the same settings with my SD equipped guitar in standard tuning it would sound like classic rock.

  • great! thanks for this review I was just searching for a metal/bugera v55hd test! it's got a lovely mid range sound, i love it!

  • Excellent review. Clearly not a JCM series amp. The timbre isn't as raspy. Glad you included the chorus segment with harmonics. It's a cool amp. Think I might need one.

  • Love the Zakk style playing. You just sold me an amp, sir ! :)

  • nice metal version of "trower's' Bridge of sighs at the end too Dingle

  • is it loud enough to play a gig?

  • @j2m3r93 Yep, more than loud enough for a small venue, bigger gigs you'll be micd anyway.

  • wow super great cleans(seen the cleans on the other review of yours ) and killer gain too ,if this thing takes pedals good ..i want two of them ... i would like to hear this with rockett's ''Animal" overdrive or flex, 10 ton hammer etc. and wampler pedals this things a winner for sure im gassing hard for this tone beast

  • i tried to get a 1960 head sent to me for a tour endorsement they said they werent doing any more this year ..never even heard the music ...their way of telling me to ..piss off ..sounds good man i like the cleans on this amp ..does it take to pedals nicely??

  • Absolutely nutty! How much did you spend with that amp till you discovered this tone?

  • @behringer Not that long actually. I pretty much decided that day to try this experiment out. Its a knack I seem to have always had, if there's a great tone in an amp I usually find it pretty quick.

  • @dingle1 hey dingle, just wondering if you could make a similar video using passive pickups, thanks!

  • dude you should do a metal demo of the bugera 1990 cuz ur playing is just awsum n heavy

  • @masteroggame3 Thanks mate, i would if i had on ;)

  • Sounds great! What settings are ya using on the TS, and which one is it? My TS9 squeals like a pig.

  • @tinnitic TS808.

  • That is the Heaviest tone I have ever heard come out of that Amp. Great Job!

How much do the EMG PU add to the Heavy Tone?

  • @hawg427 They certainly help, but any quality high output pickup could do this.

  • P.S. I cannot WAIT to hear you play through a TRIREC. That will be the review to end all reviews. :-)

  • @MeTuLHeD Me too man, hopefully they'll send me one to review soon. Thanks for your kind words!!

  • LOL! I love it bro.

I just fall out laughing when I read all the comments from the teens who say "this amp isn't metal" or "this amp doesn't have enough gain without using XYZ pedal in front to boost it". Then you play through what is actually meant to a bluesy/classic rock type amp by design and make it sound beast.

As I always say...it's the ear, not the gear.

  • I'm very surprised about Bugera, especially since they've been getting the flaws out of their products. Now that the quality keeps improving while maintaining a very friendly price, I think Bugera will be my next amp!(333XL) The bigger companies, like Mesa and Peavey cannot compete with these amps, considering that both Mesa and Peavey cost about 2 to 4 times the price..

  • Dingle, your mission, if you choose to accept it (and you do) is to go out and buy the new Bugera amps, namely the BC series, that Magician combo, and the rectifier amp, and test those.

  • @guitardbucket I'm hoping to get the magician and the tri rec without having to buy them ;)

  • killer

  • Never ceased to be amazed by these amps!

Any lower tunings will always make for heavier distortion. Higher output p/ups make a difference too.

Mine doesnt QUITE sound that metally but i could do with a tad more gain out of it. Ne hi-gain preamp valves will fix that.

    Well done!

    Pm'd u too Dave!

  • Nice try but I much much prefer the 6262 and 333XL clips...Not enough mid grind and not enough oomph on the other sides of the spectrum still a good sound!

  • sounds like a good cross between the 6262 n 333xl to me but u make every amp sound good great tone comes from the person not the gear. Also do you use the stock tubes on all bugera's or have you switched them out to what tubes you like?

  • @mdskfx None of my amps have been modded in any way, apart from my 6262 which now has a more robust front jack socket.

You are bang on the money when you say tone comes from the person as much as the gear. I hear guys using these amps with great guitars, and they don't get a tone they are happy with.

Maybe I should footnote that in all my clips, that a % of my tone comes from how I play rather than the gear.

  • that amp kicks the shit out of everything i have ever heard. even the mark 5 mesa

  • @dj9mhz Wow, Bugera will be pleased if they read that one;)

  • @dingle1 i never wouldve thought this would be a good metal amp.

  • Great video as always; I hope people listen to you about the quality of the modern Bugera gear!!

  • holy crap! I did NOT expect that 'mean' of a tone to come out of that head... *horns up*

  • I can't believe how good that amp sounds for metal, I never would have guessed.

  • DINGLE THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS I AM GETTING ONE NEXT WEEK!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Sounds great! As usual :-)

  • Comment removed

  • Well that is metal to me. I think I need that amp to.

  • killer tone...it seems capable of a great brown sound too!! awesome..i wish i have more money xD
