You Are My Flower - The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band [Long Beach, California] - 1972 - "Featuring the brilliant and tasteful acoustic guitar playing of Earl Scruggs, 'You Are My Flower' is one of the finest cuts on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's Will the Circle Be Unbroken." - Dirt, Silver & Gold [Import UK] (Beat Goes On) [Disc 2]-2003. NOTE: Only get the BGO version for the BEST sounding one.
Yes, this was Earl Scruggs on lead flat top guitar using a thumb pick and steel finger picks. Maybelle Carter played her Gibson archtop in "I'm Thinking Tonight Of My Blue Eyes and Will the Circle Be Unbroken" on this album. The Dobro may have been played by Oswald Kirby. Two other guitar greats were also included. Doc Watson and Merle Travis. One of the truly great recording sessions of all time.
Flatt & Scruggs did an album of Carter Family songs. No one could get the lead down for this song, so the take you hear on the record has Mother Maybelle playing lead guitar.
it really is one of the best records ever made and dirt, silver and gold is close to it... if you enjoy this kind of music. the talent gahered here is phenomenal... :)
........this is one of the best album ever producted. I was lucky enough to get it when it was first released. Thanks for the post. Some great Os and Doc on here too. Jreb
