I think it's appropriate to graciously open the definition of Black to incorporate the Aboriginal peoples as well as those descended directly from African Ancestors. Besides, there's evidence that that the first people of New Guinea were migratory African tribes. So, welcome African/Aboriginal Brother! Praise God and thank Him for your beautiful skin.
What a beautiful commentary about the Goroka Show. Seems like you did it from the heart and you enjoyed the show. Awesome job! Hope you can go to the other Shows there, The Hagen, Port Moresby and the Lae Show!! They are a riot. Brings back a lot of memories.
PNG is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world with over 800 languages and almost 1000 tribes....so the ppl in this video are typical HIGHLANDERS....coastal, islands and southern ppl look very different from the highlanders but many videos and docos on PNG always centre around the highlanders coz they were the LAST people on earth to be discovered and also have one of the most colourful traditional dresses as well as very very strong traditional practices.
It's funny how you are black when whites want you to be black and not black when they don't want you to be black. Like they are fucking color monitors. when you are not black they go by genetics, when you are black they go by your skin. White people are funny.
lol, yeah it's funny. Anything which doesn't fit their idea of what black is is 'not' black. If these people are not black, then I don't know what is. Load of crap
All people are of distant african origin, because earliest homo sapiens orginated in africa, but in wiev of most recent ancestors people of papua new guinea are geneticaly as distant of africans as europans.
all this people look like Africans, but they are not close relative of africans nor aborigine of australia. They are ,,oceanian nigritic,, probably mixture aborigine-like weddid race with negritos,pygmy-like hunter-gatherers from erliest migrations
so they are must be relatively close in origin to semang negritos in malaysian interior and aetas in nothern philliphines and slightly more distantly to andamanese
i dont have information about precise racial origin of this people, but genetic analyses 2 years age sugested that they are among of first modern humans out of africa
Awesome post! I am from Goroka and thoroughly loved going to the show since I was a kid. My wantoks (reles) have always participated in the singsing. My family accommodated Japanese & Israli tourists few years ago & we had a wonderful time! Do go there if you haven't yet!!!!
Thankyou for this post. I lived my childhood in Goroka. The most idyllic time that anyone could ever be blessed with. I miss the country and will return one day.
I went to the Goroka show in 2004. It was fantastic. This video is amazing but your experience will dwarf this. We also went diving and did a tour of the Sepik i.e. visited villages and stayed in them instead of high end cruise. I am not sure what else you will see but see and do more if you can. I would like to return to see the Mt. Hagen show.

I am curious about the history of the people of p. n. guinea. Did they migrate from somewhere(in history)? Do they have any ties to the Africans?
