This is sad. Anyone who knows a thing about cetaceans knows Lolita is in a dump. Even plain visitors to Seaquarium ask the trainers why the tank is so small, why it's so shallow and why she has no other whales for companionship!! It's so obvious that she's in a nightmarish tiny, barren, concrete pool with no shade, no enrichment, no other orcas, nothing! She performs the same show every single day, 1-2 times, getting little exercise. She simply sulks when she's not performing. Very sad...

If you put her in there, you're signing her death certificate. You need to understand, her immune system is used to a chlorinated artificial environment. Namu was attuned to the "wild waters" and look how long he lasted!

Actually, the AZA, who control the animal rights zoo standards, refuses to support and sponsor the Miami Seaquarium. The police have repeatedly sited the park for illegal acts - including selling beer to minors, eating a rare endangered sea turtle, not including fire escapes from Lolita's tank, 127 eletrical hazards, and more. Lolita's owner has been promised for 35 years to build a new tank but everytime he earns enough money, he builds a cafe or a new shark tank or something.

And for those of you who suggest that her trainers don't care for her, I'm inclined to partially agree. One of her trainers, Sarah (I think that's her name), has an authentic MySpace profile and upon her profile she has a couple of pictures of her performing with Lolita but no where does she mention Lolita's name, how much she loves Lolita, or how she loves her job. I can't speak for the rest of her trainers, because I don't know them.
If Tokitae really was pregnant, I hightly doubt Tillikum or Sumar would be the father. As far as I'm aware, SeaWorld doesn't do breeding without getting something in return. SeaWorld sent 3 orca to Spain on a breeding loan in return for belugas for Aquatica, I think? Here again, I could be wrong. I don't think the Miami Seaquarium has anything that SeaWorld wants, thus, I find any AI from SeaWorld bulls to be just that - bull.

That is only a rumor of Tokitae being pregnant... And it would be so irresponsible for her to have a calf!! I highly doubt shes been trained for AI and her last ecounter with a Male Orca was with Hugo... Who told you she is pregnant?

A spokesman there told us and he was NOT lying at all. The father is either Tillikum, or Sumar.

Sorry if my message sounded rude. Why would MSQ pay out for AI which is expensive? These rumors started over 16 months ago and if she were pregnant we'd know because she'd be large and MSQ regulars would have told us somehow lol!

this is Bull crap that poor whale is Not well cared for if she was then why is she not in a better inviorment with other orcas Truth is They can afford to spend 5 million dolars on aouther tank for people who want to swim with dolphins but they wont spend a dime on her

I think the trainers care but the owners don't, its the owners who have the money to pay for her. Its a load of rubbish about her being pregnant.

Love is not forced or one sided, these parks hold feeding time till the show and they do withhold food if the animal does not perform. If you think Lolita should have a calf in that dump, you need to slow down on the meds.
