Gjergj Kastrioti, like most albanians at that time were orthodox, but they broke free from the byzantine and orthodox rule ages before the arrival of turks...
Scanderbeg turned to Roman Catholicism cause the Orthodox Church condemned and excommunicated anyone that rose up against their turkish masters :/
that is the reason why Scanderbeg became Christian, although back in those times, there was really little to no difference between albo catholics and orthodox

Arvanites were as powerfull as it gets in the political system of Greece. Pangalos was arvanite and he was a dictaror back in the 1900s in Greece, he was powerfull inough to forbid sertain kinds of music,sertain kinds of dress. He even declared war against Bulgaria
for no reason. If he was thinking that Arvanites (the kind he was) should have their language or should have their land he was powerfull enough to do it. Arvanites are not what you want them to be.
